Admit it. You were a little kid at the time who used to love when Mommy and Daddy would go to the mall in the evening and give you some quarters so you could play TMNT at the arcade. After playing it time and time again at the arcade and never having enough money to beat it, you start reading in Nintendo Power magazine that the game is coming out for Nintendo and it's going to be EXACTLY like the arcade. Christmas of 1990 finally comes and you're so excited on Christmas morning that you're finally going to be able to play the arcade game in your own living room and be able to beat it without putting quarters in constantly. You pop in the game thinking that it's going to be EXACTLY like the arcade and your Nintendo's going to be speaking and singing TMNT and it's going to be the best game EVER! Instead, you pop in the game and after about 30 seconds you feel like crying because you just got coal in your stocking on Christmas morning. I tell you, that's sure as hell how I felt. I was 10 years old at the time and felt betrayed and screwed by both Nintendo and Nintendo Power magazine. The hype and letdown of that game ALONE can explain why Nintendo is in such sorry shape today. BUT, I encourage all fans of Konami's original TMNT arcade game not to dwell on the past but look to the future. WE have the power to bring this game back home and finally do it justice, maybe even make it better. Since Konami has regained the TMNT license, it is very possible that the game could be re-made. I encourage everyone reading this thread to take the time to write Konami a letter telling them how disappointed you were when you bought the 8-bit Nintendo version and how you would like it to be re-made for PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, etc. and would buy a copy. WE CAN DO IT! I wrote Konami a letter as soon as I heard they got the TMNT license back. And now it's your guy's turn! All it takes is 5 minutes and a 34 cent stamp. Since arcades are virtually obsolete, and when you do find an arcade finding the original TMNT in one is even more rare, this is the only option. Unless of course you'd prefer to play it on that piece-of-**** Nintendo and watch the power light start flashing every time you turn the power on, and then when you finally do get it to work you wonder why you went to all the trouble to begin with. I think not. The address for Konami is below. Cowabunga!!

Konami of America, Inc.
1400 Bridge Parkway
Redwood City, CA 94065

Heh, I quickly realized(around the late 80's) that Nintendo's "No quarter's neccesary" advertising was pretty false. Being I practically lived in the arcades, I spent endless hour splaying everything from Double Dragon, Contra, Ninja Gaiden, Strider, NARC and Ninja Turtles(oh the glories of late 80's arcade gaming!) Sadly all of these games ended up with a piss poor conversion, some of which(Ninja Gaiden, Double Dragon, etc) didnt even resemble the arcade games.

Luckily thanks to MAME I can play the actual arcade game anytime I want.

Btw, was that letter writing to Konami thing a joke? If ya want the arcade game(TMNT and TMNT turtles in Time) theres mame.dk
The new game looks pretty cool with its cel shading.

Well they wanted to make money, thats why they converted those games. Sadly Nes's power wasn't nearly enough to pull it trough.. The game lost much in the conversion process.

The skating rink where I used to live had one of the TMNT arcade machines...I think it was the original you guys are talking about, it was dated like 1989 or something...or was it 1991? I dunno, it looked rather fun but I never played it. I'm amazed that arcade machines like that are still working after ten years or more. They must be built pretty well...

The NES game is ok,considering that it couldn't supprt a full arcade conversion.

I've never been dissapointed with any TMNT games. And I see no reason to remake any TMNT games, just download an emulator, man.

Besides, the new game looks AWESOME. :D

Yeah I don't think we need any remakes. GBA is going to have a GBA game, and if Konami plays it smart, the game will play like the arcade games.

I never could beat that stupid game, and I never have. And just what was the deal with all those wierd enemies?

I loved the NES version, and yes, I did play it in the arcade as well. I was so swept up with Turtlemania, that my brother and I played the NES version non-stop once we got it back in the day.

I have no complaints of the NES version though, it had extra levels too!

I must have been thinking of the 1st TMNT Nintendo game.

Yeah the first game was pretty horrible. You had that overhead perspective and then you;d enter manholes and fight enemies down there. It was pretty boring. I own it now and still can bear to play it.

I strongly advise you to try playing NES games, before you decide whether the system was crap. In my opinion, it was the best system ever made...ever....

I was able to beat all the NES ones except the 3rd game. I would get to Super Shredder with only one life, low energy, and no continues left.

In my opinion the first TMNT game for NES sucked overdimensioned ass... it was sooo bad X_x I tried my ass of but I didnt get past the part where your supposed to swim and disarm bombs, and I lost interest pretty damn quickly. It's not even half as good as the second one which is without a doubt my fav NES game ever :D I've beaten all the games with the exception of the first game myself. And they all rock (with the exception of the damn first game) and posses great reply value.

I hope they make som Turtles game for GameCube... I really hope so :)

The first NES game was a chore to beat. I got stuck on level 3 for a few years and was finally able to beat the game thanks to the nintendo power atlas.

My friend and I beat (or atleast came close to beating) both the second and third games. I never liked the first one... didn't play it much either. I don't think its a stretch to say that we played those games just about every day for a while there... after recently listening to the midi theme music from them... I'll never forget the experience. Good times... good times...

The 1st tmnt game was extremely difficult and I probably will never be able to be it. I liked both versions of the arcade game but only beat the NES version legit. The 3rd one I've only beaten with my friend... I never got around beating it solo. I still can remember the first time my friend and I beat TMNT 2. So much frustration of losing to Shredder... ah... memories.

Hey, the first TMNT game on Nintendo is actually my favorite! it was cool how you could drive the van, then fight, even swim...etc...with interesting levels, and how you could switch characters.

I love TMNT 2-4 as well, they are really cool fighting games to play with other people. TMNT 1 though felt more like a fighting as well as a cool ninja turtle adventure, only thing missing was you couldnt play 2 player.

By the way, I never got a chance to play the original Arcade version, what all is different?????

I loved the side scrolling TMNT games for NES and SNES. Those are the games I can go back and still enjoying playing and beat within a few tries.

But the first TMNT game for NES kind of sucked. It was hard enough to get passed the bombs in the dam like someone said. But I always got stuck on level three. I could never get passed level three. That game was frustrating. I downloaded nesticle sometime last year and tried to play it again and still couldn't get passed it. I'll stick with the regular side scrolling TMNT games that came afterwards.

Does anyone know anything about the new TMNT game? What kind of game it might be or any kind of tenative release date?

Wow, I thought I was the only one who couldn't beat the 3rd stage as a kid... now I don't feel so alone. Well, closest I've gotten at this age is I got about 15 feet away from Shredder's door and got killed. I was really mad (even though at the time I didn't know I was that close.)
