The first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cartoon had three intro Which is your favorite one
1 When the series was on channel 13
2 When the series was on channel 2
3 The red sky series
I like the Channel 2 Intro the most. What about you guys.

I gotta go with the super OG intro, with the "get a grip" line followed by the different colored backgrounds and the turtles gripping their weapons. :tgrin:

I love them all but I'm convinced that the second biggest reason for the failure of Next Mutation was the theme song. We all know what the first one was...

I'm going with the original intro because that's what I remember the most.

I didn't even know there were 3 intros. Are they very different from one another? I know the original theme song is my favorite, but now I'm going to have to find the various versions.

Love the first intro. The animation makes the boys look so bad@$$. when mike is deflecting those shruiken... nice. And when the camera pans out and the boys are standing on the roof in shadows... :D love it.
That one will always hold a special place in my heart.

I finally found all three intros. The red sky one threw me off -- I thought I was watching a fan-made version with the movie scenes spliced in. That was odd...
Overall, I think my general preference is for the first one, though the second one isn't bad. The third one is a bit too odd, and I don't like the song, but I did like some of the actual scenes.
1st intro:
PROS
Shadowy entrance = sweet.
I like them drawing their weapons as they fly through the air.
Gripping their weapons is cool.
The action is fairly interesting.
The shuriken thing is pretty cool.
Running across the rooftops is also good.
Technodrome appearing - this part of the theme is the most vivid memory of TMNT I have.
It ends well.
CONS
I don't like the floating purple glowing baby turtles.
I don't like the Mikey dancing segment.
I'm not thrilled with the Donnie machine segment
I don't think I like the turtle hang glider thing.
2nd intro:
PROS
The groups scene right after the title is shown is pretty good. Mikey has something that's not a nunchuk, though (is it a grappling hook?). Is that just the version I happened to find, or is that any version?
I like the shot of shredder ordering the foot soldiers to attack.
The training scene is pretty cool.
The Raphael jumping around the building thing is good until he makes that face at the camera.
The scene accompanying the "Michaelangelo is a party dude" is better, though I don't like him getting defeated.
I can't complain about most of the ending.
CONS
Seeing their shadows on the wall at the beginning would be cooler if it lasted longer.
I don't like the scene right after that with them pointing at the sky.
I don't like Donnie and Mikey foiling Shredder.
I don't like this Donnie machine part any better than the 1st version.
Raph's face at the camera.
Mikey getting tackled by a pile of foot ninjas.
I don't like the pizza throwing thing.
3rd intro:
PROS
I like the action here the best, especially Leo vs. Shredder.
CONS
Live action splicing.
New theme.
Whoever designed it did not seem to be a fan of Mikey. It was rather Raph heavy, I thought.
I feel like splicing elements of these together to make my ideal intro.

UUGGHH! Can't stand the grappling hook deal. Yes it's his shell shaped grappling hook. They began to phase out his nunchuck use gradually in their attempt to transition to a hook, thinking we wouldn't notice. :x

Even the US version? *sigh*
I so desperately want it to make sense to single out that particular weapon.

I like the 2nd intro the best, though I think the shortened 2nd one is pretty cool too. I forgot they had a shortened one until I got the 4th season boxset. The 1st intro will always rule, but I am not a fan of the 3rd intro. It would be better without the live action stuff in it.

That's the Turtle Blimp? It's been years since I've seen the show, but I would have imagined it to be more... blimpy. Or is it like the Enterprise, where the saucer section can separate?
I wrote about the hang glider/Turtle Blimp before watching the other intros for detail. It is actually my favorite Donnie piece. It grew on me once I watched it more carefully.

Watching the first introduction, i remember as they show scenes of the turtles (leo, don, raph, then mike)...the machine donatello is working on i couldn't understand what it was until later when i saw a screen capture of it, donatello has attempted to make a giant coffee maker :D

The first title sequence is by far the best IMO. It's just the most classic and the one I will always associate with the TMNT.
The first outro scene as well, with the four turtles and April standing in the Technodrome's tracks.. great image. Much better then the elevator shaft IMO.

I remember one intro has splinter and the turtles practicing. was that the second intro or the first one. I ask because in one of the 2 intros, splinter is colored in a darker brown..so that's what i remember. But again, i don't know if that was the 2nd intro or the 1st one.

The original intros were great, when I got to see them (on DVD) again after so many years off of tv I was like wow those intros are pretty freakin awesome. I always loved the jumping into the dark sky and Mikey's chuk shot and this really quick clip of the Technodrome and Raph's hand gripping his sai off to the side of the frame.
The Red Sky Intro probably is my second fav because it has the movie clips and it made me really excited because at that time seeing that movie and the cartoon together was my dream come true

I would say the first two intros are pretty much tied for my fave. I'm not really a big fan of the red sky intro because the movie clips make it kind of lame...it seemed so far after the 1st movie & including those clips seemed kind of pointless *waits for objects to be thrown in general direction* ;)

Beautiful nostalgia! Also one of my favs. (Love how they drew the Sai. Too often in the show they were drawn like forks... The middle prong was way too short a lot.)

^ Me too. There is so much stuff crammed into 60 seconds! If you watch the intro frame by frame (whichs takes forever) you get to see a lot of great animation. They flash all kinds of sweet action into the first intro which is probably why I love it.

As I don't remember anything specifically about the old toon, I have to ask:
Did the technodrome clip in the original intro come from an episode? If so, what is the black spot on Leo's shell?
Also, they don't seem to have nails. :-) I don't think I would have ever noticed that if I hadn't read that fairly recent interview about the TMNT rules.

No. All the content was animated specifically for the intro.
If so, what is the black spot on Leo's shell?
Like Scandia said, they are support for his katana. They only appear, however, in a few first season episodes. After that, they just started to draw his katana directly in contact with his shell and belt.
Also, they don't seem to have nails. :-) I don't think I would have ever noticed that if I hadn't read that fairly recent interview about the TMNT rules.
