Those look like the Turtle suits used at MGM Studios in Florida. They were....not so good.

similar but still way different.

The costumes in this picture are actually better than the MGM versions which were... I agree, not so good

I've seen that picture in some eBay listings lately, but just along side a copy of the first movie being sold. The most interesting thing about that picture, IMO, is that it's actually hosted on Weta Workshop's site - these being the people who did all of the LOTR movie effects. I would assume they made the costumes? Which is interesting in itself, because, as has been pointed out, they're not very good and you would assume that group would be capable of better.

Well they're not... er... "realistic"... but I wouldn't call 'em bad. 'Specially if they just made 'em for kicks.

(They don't frighten me, which is a bonus.)

Easy guys, easy. Henson was a genius. No one can duplicate what he created.

Kermit the Frog meets Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles...who would win that battle with Jim Henson as the referee

The "02" in the url made me wonder if there could possibly be more pictures. There is at least one more:

I found a page on the project here on Weta's site (http://www.wetaworkshop.co.nz/projects/filmography/other/ninja_turtles):

Ninja Turtles
1990

Richard, Tania and good friend Kent Parker produced four suit characters for the Ninja Turtles stage show. They were full rubber body suits that allowed the actors to perform dance and gymnastic performance.

With two friends in tow, they had twelve days to create these suits and deliver them to the client. Needless to say, a very tight deadline.
No idea what the "stage show" mentioned was, and I'm relatively sure I've never seen these costumes before. Interesting, anyway.

Well...it could have been for the Disney World show or the Coming Out of Our Shells show...or the Getting Down In Your Town show at Six Flags.....

Either way those costumes look like Kermit the Frog...

wow that was quite a deadline...12 days to create those suits

yeah nuetrino, Henson's creature shop is amazing and the experience and resources they have are really unmatched especially back in the day.

4 of them in 12 days? So basically 3 days each? Shoot, they look good considering that!

Weta workshop?? They did the costumes and props for the Lord of the Rings movies. They sure have come a long way. :D
These turtles look rather sweaty. And what happened to their teeth? :O
