Which Comics Should Be Adapted into the TV Show?

I looked for this subject to make sure it hasn't been brought up and couldn't find it, so with the speculation of FF ending and the series returning to its roots (maybe???), is there any particular comic that you would like to see adapted into an episode in the Cartoon?

I recently read Tales v2 #13 and 14 and I thought this would make an interesting episode, especially with how it may or may not relate to FF.

For those of you who don't know, these comic issues deal with Leonardo partaking in a quest of sorts with three other Leos at different ages (one being over 100). It would make an interesting episode that would play well on TV.

I don't know why you'd be beaten for that; I couldn't agree more. But for a list of stupid reasons, the Archie-verse isn't even an option the toon. :(

I don't think he loaths the series infact I can't even remember a time when peter down right said he disliked it.
It's honestly got allot more to it both with characters and storys than most of the mirage world.

Yeah, I tend to agree, actually. In terms of amount of quality and consistancy, Archie wins hands-down. But when Mirage is good, it's damn good.

Oh I agree thats why I like most of Tales Vol.2 I don't think turtles has been that good in a long time sans a few lame issues like the raph and cha ocho one which made no sence at all...:roll:

Yeah it really did it makes me wonder if people including Peter only look at the first few issues and go pft! they did the same thing with Fast Forward hell allot of people did the same thign with 2k3 including allot of my friends at first and as the series went on i would by the dvd's and show them episodes like "I Monster" they where like wow this new turtles is so cool.
People don't want to see the same stuff over and over and over.

Tis true! Murphy even had a hand in the comics it makes me wonder why it's so frowned upon when so many Mirage people worked on the comic.

I haven't gotten to the later issues of Archie yet, I'm stalled at #27 as I'm waiting for it to come in the mail (I hate reading things out of order or skipping issues) but from all I hear about it, I can't wait to continue reading it.

Although Mikey tends to be my favorite character for some odd reason, I'm not particularly fond of the Mikey centric episodes, or really even the comics all that much. I think all my life I was a Raph fan and didn't realize it. But as for Comic issues, I'm especially drawn to the Leo centric ones.

I liked the Blind Sight Story arc in V.2, I wonder how they could adapt that one to the tv series.

I would think so at the time they came out I got both of them I had a subscription at my local comic shop and while Archie could hardly ever be seen left on the shelf Vol.2 always had like 3 extra issues sitting there that never sold infact I think some of them are there.
But I see your thinking along the same lines I am here Jester if sales are the issue that would be extreamly childish I honestly think people need to get over the old toon world vs. the new toon world and mirage at this point.
We've got so many differnt version of TMNT and I don't know about anyone else but I Feyookin' love it!:D

I agree with you Rose. I love the Hall of Legends, and I haven't even read it, just the summary on the site. I think Vol. 2 would be a good few episodes. Just for the Hell of it, wasnt there an issue with Juliet Romano, Savanti's wife? That would be interesting.

I don't know if theres gonna be allot of dodging needed there it would seem which is shocking btw that most of the fans really liked the archie series in retrosepct.

The only thing I didn't like about the Archie series was the Splinter origin, but what can you do. It still worked.

It was the same one used from the old cartoon seeing as the comic started out based on that and took it above and beyond anything the toon became.

As far as I know, Peter enjoyed the series - he just doesn't consider it part of the official Mirage Studios TMNT canon.
I've never heard Peter say a single disparaging word about TMNT Adventures (doesn't mean that he hasn't - but I've never heard him say anything remotely negative about the series).

hmm I'm not sure about me I think I like them both I like the mirage one well because that was the first one.
And I like the 80's toon one because it made splinters struggle with life even harder because not only did he have all that foot nonsence to deal with but he also had to live with the fact that he would never be a man again it really is actully a very sad life. poor splinter...:cry:

I don't want any more comic episodes. The comic versions are always 400 times better. I recent;y read alot of the comic episode issues and the comics stomp the episodes. The episodes tend to become to long and drug out as where the comic is to the point. Turtles In Space is a great example of this.

I liked it less after reading the issue but I'Monster remains a top fav, but that was because they adapted that story to fit the new series and added a new twist on it I liked.

As opposed to making it even more goofy*Like Golden Puck* they kept it serious.

The time period it took place in made it even greater as Leo was a total asshole and it was done in season 4 where the animation style had peaked.

I don't know the comics beyond the synopses on ninjaturltes.com, but from what I've read would love to see an adaption of The River. That was really cool and kind of scary.

Seriously, that seemed like such a no-brainer from the start. They made it expressly clear they wanted to have pre-existing superheroes and villains in the 2k3 Universe, even going so far as to create lots of completely original ones like Silver Sentry, Tsunami and Crystalis...so where the heck are Mirage's foremost superhero/villain duo, Complete Carnage & Radical?

Wanna see em so bad.


"Shades of Grey" was a great story, though it would be a bit difficult to adapt for a "kid's" program. Perhaps just have Casey injure the punk instead of killing him and then be overcome with crippling self-loathing instead of alcoholism. However, they'd do it, it would mean more Nobody, and that's always good.

"The River" is another classic, though how they'd handle a villain as violent as Bloodsucker is beyond me. I'd still like to see it, though.

And if failing that, there's always "Sky Highway", which would fit right in with most 2k3 stories.

Sadly, Laird doesn't seem to be a big fan of Veitch's work on the TMNT and has said in the letters pages he absolutely will not adapt any of them for the 2k3 series. Too bad (they were better than msot of his Vol. 4 stories ;) ).

I adored Veitch's TMNT work. It's such a shame Laird won't consider it consider them cannon. But if their not cannon they how is he going to explain that Veitch flashback in Sons of the Silent Age, which is cannon.

49th Street Stompers - a Eastman and Laird short story, I always liked this one TMNT vs. gang violence, they could use the Purple Dragons in this one

There is also a Donatello short story that would make a great solo episode for him where he teaches this Chinese kid who's family doesn't believe in violence to defend himself against bullies. The story is based on an old Budhist koan - "Check rather than hurt, hurt rather than main, main rather than kill" something like that is how it goes.

They should adapt some of the plot elements from Image Comics' Volume III, like the Mob vs Foot war, Big Tony Puzorelli, Warlord Komodo, Oroku Pimiko, and Raph taking over the Foot Clan. In my opinion, Volume III was some of the best TMNT since Volume I ended.

While they're at it, how 'bout Bodycount? We haven't gotten a "Raph 'n Casey bustin' heads" episode in forever. Of course, they'd have to seriously tone down all the violence and killing. :o

Well Kari was the new toon's Pimiko, so that's one of the list. Shadow would be nice but probably not going to happen. The Komodo storyline would be interesting. If we got the Worm Shark Shredder from Worms of Madness before hand we could even have a Mako.

Actually, with a bit of hard work, Pimiko can make an appearance: the writers could make her the daughter/sister/niece of Yukio Mashimi—and she wants revenge against the TMNT for his death.

Shadow would be sweet, too. I originally thought Angel was supposed to mirror Shadow's personality, but so far it ain't happened.

I would love a Shredder Shark. I heard, though that Mako was a character from The Savage Dragon comics, so I doubt he'll ever appear.

Yeah, I know. I'm still trying to figure out how Pimiko would find out the Turtles were related to Splinter, who was the mutated pet rat of Hamato Yoshi, who killed Yukio Mashimi.

Heck, I'm still trying to figure out how Mashimi could have a sister/niece/daughter when he and Yoshi were orphans. But I still like the idea.
