Using the Myers-Briggs and Enneagram:
Leonardo: ENFJ (http://keirsey.com/personality/nfej.html) 1w2 (http://www.enneagraminstitute.com/TypeOne.asp)so/sp/sx (http://www.enneagram.net/social.html). Charismatic leader, perfectionistic advocate, very hard on himself and idealistic.
Raphael: ISTP (http://keirsey.com/personality/spit.html) cp 6w7 (http://www.enneagraminstitute.com/TypeSix.asp) sx/sp/so (http://www.enneagram.net/sexual.html) (ok, for Raphael I am not sure about the letters other than his being a Sensing Thinker, but he's definitely a Counterphobic Six as well as Social Last). Rebellious but has a sense of duty to protect others, confronts fear as his main tactic (especially shown when he is the Nightwatcher).
Michelangelo: ESFP (http://keirsey.com/personality/spef.html) 7w6 (http://www.enneagraminstitute.com/TypeSeven.asp) sx/so/sp (http://www.enneagram.net/sexual.html). The performer who likes to have fun, party, and eat! Carefree and easygoing. Very childlike.
Donatello: INTP (http://keirsey.com/personality/ntip.html) 5w6 (http://www.enneagraminstitute.com/TypeFive.asp) sp/so/sx (http://www.enneagram.net/selfpres.html). The brains behind this in nearly every way. Totally focused into his inventions and creations. Quietest of the bunch. Always rational. Solving problems always.
Splinter: INFJ (http://keirsey.com/personality/nfij.html) 1w9 (http://www.enneagraminstitute.com/TypeOne.asp) so/sp/sx (http://www.enneagram.net/social.html). The mentor who showed the Turtles the way. Quiet and retiring in some ways, but also has high standards for his pupils. Caring and strict at the same time.

I can see Einstein in Donnie, Elvis in Mikey. They are really the same type. But Leo and Oprah!
And if the turtles were real, I want them to take kinsey scale test as well.

Remember that Myers-Briggs letter dimensions are just one aspect of your personality. Not all ENFJs are like Oprah Winfrey. She is a 3w2.
Personally, I'm ENTJ 3w4 sp/so/sx.
I think this is interesting... but those are a bit off. There is no way Raphael is an introvert, for example.
I asked a bunch of Myers Briggs fanboys this question once, and I think they worked it out pretty well. They came up with the following:
Leo: ISTJ (introverted, aware of his surroundings, thinker, doer... Same as Splinter)
Raph: ESFP (or ESTP, they couldn't decide if he was warm-blooded or cold-blooded, so to speak)
Mike: ENFP (dreamer who's very loud about it)
Don: INTJ (inventor/engineer type... unless I miss my guess, same as Peter Laird)
Splinter: ISTJ
April: ISTP
Shredder: ENTJ (think-the-world-would-be-better-if-you-were-in-control type)
We did more characters, but I don't remember.

As an ENTJ, I have no problems accepting Shredder as one. I think he's also an 8w7 when it comes to Enneatypes.
Donnie seems more P than J to me, but not much.
Mikey seems too concrete and not abstract enough. Hence he's ESFP. I have seen him typed as ESFP before too.
Raph is a tough one. He's a Sensing Thinker for sure. But E vs. I and J vs. P are hard to determine in him.
Leo and Splinter are way too idealistic to be anything other than NFs. Both are NFJs to be exact. I can see how Leo in the first few episodes of the OT can be mistyped as ESTJ- BUT if you keep watching as well as read/watch the other versions, you can see how he is an NFJ. Notice also that Leo and Splinter have the same core Enneatype but different wings, as well as the same variant stacking.
I see April as ENFP and 3w4- not sure about the variants. Casey I see him as ENTP and perhaps cp 6w7 as well, and also sx-first.

I can't see Raph as an ISTJ. I'm an ISTJ and we're practically polar opposites.
However, if you're going by OT personalities rather than movie/comic/NT personalities...

Yup, I saw Raphael typed as ISTJ once in another community. They probably based it off the OT. BUT he does want to be alone relatively often. He may be loud at times, but it's like he derives his energy from being alone- which is what makes someone an Introvert. In the new movie, he is more of an ESTP or ISTP. The J vs. P I based on the fact that while Donatello and Michelangelo are very easygoing and flexible, Raphael just wants things HIS WAY and that's why he butts heads so much with Leo. The J adds a bossiness to him that Donnie and Mikey just don't seem to have.
He's definitely a Counterphobic Six when it comes to numbers in every single one of them, though.
To me, while Raph's different incarnations focus on various aspects of him, they do not really alter his essence all that much.

Hmm... I think those definitions of the personalities might be a tad too... defined. Personalities are dynamic and there are always multiple parts that don't fit any mold. Myers Briggs and enneagrams just reflect tendencies. For example, intuitive vs. sensing is not about being abstract vs. being concrete. Bleh... my friends could explain it better than I can... I'm not a psychologist.
You could be right about Don... Don is kind of passive (the stereotype for an INTJ personality is Baxter Stockman from the new toon) but I think Don shows all the signs of INTJ. Dude's a planner. :)

Cool thread. I posted my bets on personality types for the Turtles once, and came up with the same as Scandia for Leo and Don. I would posibly argue ISTP over ISTJ for Raph. And ESFP over ENFP for Mike.
"As a child, the ISTJ is apt to be obedient and a source of pleasure to parents and teachers."
Not very Raph. On the other hand:
"ISTPs are egalitarian and can be fiercely loyal to 'brothers' but they can be fiercely insubordinate, seeing hierarchy and authority as unnecessary and even superfluous."
Very Raph.
I would argue that Raph is a stong introvert. Not being a party person which is the oposite of Mike (a definate extrovert) and bottling up your feeling until you just explode are signs of an introvent and definately very Raph-like.
As for Mike, the bond between the ISTP and the ESFP would help explain the close bond between Mike and Raph.
As for myself I'm INFJ, so I guess I'm most like Splinter.:)

Hm. I always thought that introversion or extroversion has more to do with where you find you mental stimulation, and less to do with how social you are. Since Leo and Don can live in their own heads, I'd say they're introverts. But since Mike and Raph get bored and frustrated when nothing happens, I'd say they're extroverts.

Now I am leaning more towards ISTP after seeing that description. Except that ISTPs tend to be somewhat more easygoing. While Raph does not exactly have a stick up inside him, he is not as affable as Mikey or even Donnie. Plus while SJs in general behave well as children, STJs are not as well behaved as SFJs. But yeah, I can see Raph as the rogue ISTP. No SJ turtle- but SJ is the norm and the Turtles are NOT normal. Maybe this was done on purpose to show how different they were from normal beings.
Most extraverted of the bunch is definitely Mikey and most introverted Donnie.
Rooish- you are confusing Introversion with iNtuition. And there is no doubt that Leo and Don are iNtuitives, while Mikey and Raph are Sensors.

Sensing vs. iNtuition
It pertains on how you gather information:
- if you mainly use your five senses and are a concrete thinker
- if you rely on your sixth sense and are an abstract thinker
I must be close to 100% iNtuitive myself.

This personality typing stuff is new to me. It is amazing how so many of you know enough about it to analyze the turtles in this way. Thanks to the many links provided in this topic I took the tests myself and my results were: INTJ 8w7. Even though I read the description I really do not know what it all means, but it was still fun!

I've been studying personality typing for a while now and even belong to various communities about it.
It is the first time I have been able to determine the variant stackings for fictional characters. I had a hard time determining mine- but after a long time of analyzing I have concluded that I'm sp/so/sx.

I just wanted to add that in a personality typing forum:
- Krang was typed to be an 8w9. Which sounds right to me. Letterwise, I think he is ISTJ.
- However, Shredder was typed as a cp6w7. Maybe she was going only by the OT, but I am seeing him as an 8 while Raphael and Casey are 6s.
- Person typed Michelangelo as a 9w1. While I did ponder 9w8 for Mikey, I decided he was way too hyper and adventurous. Hence I stand by him being a 7w6. And his wing is phobic.

Leo is definitely an ISTJ (Inspector Guardian http://keirsey.com/personality/sjit.html ), but he can also fit the description of an ISFJ (Protector Guardian http://keirsey.com/personality/sjif.html ) as well. "The primary desire of the Protector Guardian is to be of service to others, but here "service" means not so much furnishing others with the necessities of life as guarding others against life's pitfalls and perils, that is, seeing to their safety and security. They go about their task of caretaking modestly, unassumingly, and because of this their efforts are not sometimes fully appreciated..." "... Their shyness with strangers is often misjudged as stiffness, even coldness, when in truth these Protectors are warm-hearted and sympathetic, giving happily of themselves to those in need. Thoroughness and frugality are also virtues for Protectors. When they undertake a task, they will complete it if at all humanly possible; and they know the value of material resources and abhor the squandering or misuse of these resources."
I do see Don as an INTJ, but some aspects of an ENTP (Inventor Rational http://keirsey.com/personality/ntep.html ) fit him as well: "Of the four aspects of strategic analysis and definition it is the functional engineering or inventive role that reaches the highest development in Inventors. It is so natural for these individuals to practice devising gadgets and mechanisms, that they start doing it even as young children. And they get such a kick out of it that they really never stop exercising their inventive bent..." "Outgoing and intensely curious, Inventors are apt to express interest in finding out about everything they come into contact with, and this can be a source of inspiration to others, who find themselves admiring the Inventor's insatiable hunger for knowledge. Inventors are also endlessly inventive, and are the most reluctant of all the types to do things in a particular manner just because that is the way things have always been done. They characteristically have an eye out for a better way, always on the lookout for new projects, new activities, new procedures."
Definitely Donny there. He may not be as outgoing as say Mikey, but I've seen him get excited and chatty on occasion when he's working on something new and wants to show it off.
Raph... Geez, Raph is hard to pinpoint. One would argue he's either introverted or extroverted. While he tends to shy away from social interaction, he's a lot quicker to release his emotions than Leo. The type ISTP describes him well enough.
Mikey is definitely an ESFP (The Performer). "Demonstrating or performing is putting on a show to entertain others, and Performers, whether on the job, with friends, or in their families, are the natural performers among the types, people for whom it can truly be said "all the world's a stage.""
Mike loves to put on an act; he loves to entertain his brothers.
"Performers are not comfortable being alone most of the time, and seek the company of others whenever possible -- which they usually find, for they make wonderful playmates. Lively, witty conversationalists, Performers always seem to know the latest jokes and stories, and are quick with wisecracks and wordplay -- nothing is so serious or sacred that it can't be made fun of."
Again Mike. He's a people person, and loves to be around others. He likes to be a comedian.

Leo is WAY too much of a psychic to not be an iNtuitive Feeler. And he is more Extraverted than Introverted, though not extremely so. Leo is ENFJ- http://keirsey.com/personality/nfej.html "handling data with little pre-planning" "gathering the other children as their leader". So many things fit in this profile. I am not seeing the ISTJ or ISFJ at all.
HOWEVER, since episodes are written by different people, it can be inconsistent indeed. In some episodes Xena the Warrior Princess is very much an ISTP, while in others she's an INTJ.
Donnie could be INTJ or INTP. I put INTP because he is more laid back than organized.
For Mikey you put ESTP but the description you gave is of ESFP, which is exactly what he is.
And for Raph, he was the hardest one, but ISTP seems mostly right. Weak I vs. E and P vs. J functions.
And here's Splinter's- INFJ http://keirsey.com/personality/nfij.html .

Well, I put the right title for Mike, but I got my letters mixed up. Sorry. I corrected it.

ENFJ may describe a few of his leadership tendencies and perfectionism, but I disagree that any of the rest of the type fits him beyond that. ISTJ and ISFJ describes him very well, and it is the most consistent of him what I've seen throughout.
He's more introverted than he is extroverted. He keeps a lot of things to himself; he's not very open on his emotions and feelings. He's not very inclined to discuss that part of himself.
Yes, he can think on his feet and improvise if he has to, he's flexible like that, but he is a strategic mind, and strategy involves pre-planning. He's a deep thinker; thorough, precise, detailed, and orderly. He's conservative, old-fashioned, and traditional. He prefers simplicity over lavishness. He's hard-working, dependable, and giving of others in need; compassionate and sympathetic.
Yes, he's also an idealist. If someone tells him life is unfair, he's of mind to try to make it fair. He wants to be the people's hero, if you will.
Bottom line is he's more an ISTJ or ISFJ than an ENFJ. I just can't see for the life of me that type dominating in him.

Strategic thinking is actually a NT trait. And NF is closer to NT than SJ will be.
J vs. P is his strongest function, leaving everything else rather weak. T vs. F is his weakest function.
I do not see much bottom lining in him. He is almost as iNtuitive as Donatello, who is the most iNtuitive Turtle for sure. He has highly developed psychic powers- which is something a Sensor is NOT likely to have.
E vs. I may not be all that strong, but he's certainly more Extraverted than Donatello, Splinter, and even Raphael. Michelangelo is extremely extraverted. But Leonardo is an Extravert by North American/British standards, and definitely by Japanese standards.
I am just seeing the charismatic leadership of an ENFJ much more than the bottom lining micromanagement that an IS_J would be prone to. I am seeing too much abstract thinking in Leonardo in more than one way.

Rooish and Blithe- Introversion vs. Extraversion do regard how you energize. However, what you just described as Leo and Donnie doing would be called introspection. It is something that iNtuitives do often, but Sensors do not engage in all that much. In Tales #25, Raph says he is not one for introspection. Yet he likes being alone at times and energizes by being alone. Hence I classified Raph as an Introvert, although he is not as Introverted as Donnie. Conversely, Leonardo is more outgoing than reserved, but he does introspect and reflect much more than Raph or Mikey. Hence I classified Leo as an iNtuitive. I am very outgoing myself, but I also have a very huge imagination and rich inner life. I'm an Extraverted iNtuitive due to this.

So am I. And I'm ENTJ.
That goes double for me, but I'm an ISTJ or ISFJ. And as taken from the ISTJ passage: "Inspectors are characterized by decisiveness in practical affairs, are the guardians of institutions, and if only one adjective could be selected, "superdependable" would best describe them. Whether at home or at work, Inspectors are nothing if not dependable, particularly when it comes to examining the people and products they are responsible for-quietly seeing to it that uniform quality is maintained, and that those around them uphold certain standards of attitude and conduct...." "These quiet, no-nonsense Guardians have a distaste for and distrust of fanciness in speech, dress, and living space. Their words tend to be simple and down-to-earth, not showy or high-flown..."

Well, his thoroughness and orderliness of an ISTJ is what I was highlighting to pre-planning/strategy, but I'll give you that one.
Wait... Sensor is not linked to psychic powers? Um, last time I checked it was. Developing psychic powers are connected to having a strong sensory, especially that of the supernatural and otherworldly. It would be impossible to tap into that ability without something of it. He is intuned with the world around him, aware of his surroundings, and that would require sensing.
"Psychism is not a power. Psychism is natural. It is the ability to sense and interpret energy. This can lead to very strong reactions to what you sense or feel and the actions you take because of those reactions can, at times, undermine you in all areas of your life." Source: http://www.angelfire.com/realm2/amethystbt/psychic.html

Yes, he'll go out and do things that require him to, but he keeps to himself more. The stronger trait is I. As I said, I see the leadership qualities in him described in an ENFJ, but other than that, no. It just does not fit all of him right to me. It doesn't sit right.

Ha! One of the first things you are taught in MBTI training, is never type other people. I know we're just having fun here, but it's easy to see why this precaution...or admonition is given.
The MBTI is unique because it does not idientify the quantity of a trait/skill. It sorts people into theoretical categories of type based upon what they prefer.
What people do doesn't necessarily translate into what they prefer. And being affable, a partier or organized are all traits - not what the MBTI is designed to measure (for example, "creativity" applies to all 4 functions - S,N,T,F). Additionally, in the MBTI world you cannot be "more" extraverted or sensing than someone else: you either are or you are not.
With the turtles, we can see certain quirks/traits/characteristics, but really, like with anyone, without getting inside their heads, it's tough to accurately say what they'd be.
Anywho...enough soapbox from me.
