In the letters column of Tales Vol. 2 #34, Murphy revealed that the hard-to-find Tales of the TMNT Vol. 1 TPB will be reprinted this November. It'll also include an all new back-up story by Lawson (and hopefully the original back-up story featuring Nobody that was in the previous TPB).
Just a heads up. I already own each individual issue, but I'll buy the thing because I need that Nobody story.
For those of you who don't own the previous TPB or the individual issues, Tales Vol. 1 features some of the best and most important TMNT stories ever written. All 7 issues were adapted into episodes of the 2k3 cartoon. BUY IT!

Dude, this is awesome. At first I thought you were talking about the Vol. 1 TPB of Tales Vol. 2. All these Volumes are starting to get confusing.... :)

I actually thought that at first too and thought, "Noooo, I have to rebuy it again!!"
But this is great news that Vol. 1 is gonna be reprinted!

I was hoping to collect all seven issues before I die. Now it looks like I won't have to. :D

It's about freaking time!
I've got a couple of issues of Tales of TMNT Vol.1, but haven't been able to find the others. This is perfect!

I'm glad Laird didn't want to give Tales Vol. 1 his "complete remastering", otherwise the reprinting might never have come. I guess he only wants to "remaster" issues that were drawn by him and Eastman.

So it includes ALL the individual comic books that comprise the first volume of Tales of the TMNT then?
COOL BEANS! I'll buy it for sure then!
I just read all 5 movie prequel comics and the movie adaptation today. I'm bidding on the Leonardo microseries. Getting my hand on these Tales would so totally ROCK.

Probably a can of worms you don't want to touch... but here's the old can (http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=18622) that you can browse.

Thanks. And BTW... going back and "editing" work because your nitpicky self twenty some-odd years later gripes over the countless could-have-beens... that's insane. Period. Not to mention... wrong.
Okay, BUT we're all happy ladies and gents! A TPB at LAST is coming out for us to buy! :D

So this is Tales Volume 1, as in the first seven issues? Maybe not the VOlume one of TMNT I've been hoping for, but I'm in all likelihood picking it up none the less because it is old school TMNT.

Um, well if by "the Volume one of TMNT I've been hoping for" you're referring to the Vol. 1 TPB of Tales Vol. 2, then that shouldn't be very hard to find online. Panel to Panel should have plenty. But if you're referring to TPBs of the old school TMNT Vol. 1, then yeah, we'll all have to keep on waiting... :(

Yeah, I meant the latter. At this point I think I may have an easier time tracking down the single issues.

The first appearance of Leatherhead, the Rat King, Nobody the return of Savanti Romero...dude, Tales Vol. 1 is seven consecutive issues of pure AWESOME. And they were done back when Lawson still knew how to draw, too. Tales Vol. 1 is one of the best runs of any TMNT comic ever. I find myself rereading those issues more often than I reread a lot of TMNT Vol. 1 stories.

I'm just learning about the Mirage books, were these guys introduced here before they were in the cartoon? Or did they write comic book versions afterward?

They were introduced in the comic before they made it into the cartoon and toyline.
As you can guess, their comic book personalities and origins are very different from those presented in the old toon, or in some cases, even the new toon.
