Coincidence: How does your own life compare with the turtles?

Being family doesn't always make you friends, but it's obvious they don't love each other because they think they're supposed to. I know, I have a little Mikey, and Don of my own...heh their names even begin with the same letters. *rambles* We weren't even raised together. I would kill for them.

I posted this in another thread, and it got me really thinking. I've spent most of my life in a grouping with three other people. While these people haven't always been the same, my role has been...and nobody messes with my friends. I've always sort of had my own nerd, doofus, and leader-guy who suggests things I don't really wanna do. :roll: At first when this "Which ninja turtle are you?" thing came up, I was slightly insulted...I was pointed at, with one word uttered. "Raphael". I thought about it for a moment...and all I could do was shrug, and tell Sam aka Sunshine she was Mikey. :P We had trouble figuring out our other two. Both of them fix things for a living, both are nerds, only one has martial arts training. We ended up deciding that my husband is Donatello. He spends most of his time on a computer, and yet is still the most likely to blow himself up. Other Sam...will actually stand in my livingroom, with his hands on his hips, going "I'm the best! And we should do this..." We just...look at him funny XD

My given family life was pretty much the same, only a bit more to the extreme. My mother didn't raise me. I'm not going to go into a whole lot here. I'll just explain that she was my permanent Leonardo (only without the common sense, intelligence, or honor)...and I'd like to kick her ass on a rooftop...or off of it. The one I considered my mother died many years ago. She taught me the best she could, but when she left me, I really considered myself alone.

"M" can usually be found with a game controller in his hand. He really doesn't do anything else...unless I'm around. I may as well have a target on me...or a sign that says "Keep saying the wrong things, until I try to murder you." These funderful moments usually ended in a chase/capture/beating with my mom trying to break it up, and my other brother standing off to the side looking clueless. Sound familiar? :ohwell: It is funny when he screams like a little girl...Battle nexus champion my ass.

If "D" has something, he's likely taking it apart, or else putting it back together. I had a computer break down on me a few years ago. It went to two different shops, who couldn't even get it to turn on. My brother asks me for it, and by this time I figure there's no harm he can do...
So within an hour he's got this computer up, and running. He turns to me with this look...this smug grin...and asks me if I want it back.
LITERALLY within five minutes of me touching it, I managed to get the sasser worm. Yay...go me. *sigh* Dead computer. Of course, this is the favored brother by my mother. When he's being babied, or obnoxiously praised you can usually find me glaring/screaming from across the room, and "M" bounding around like an idiot going "What about me?"

I always felt like I was different. Like I did not belong. The rest of my family were normal to varying degrees- but I always knew I was different. I'm weird like that and it still shows.

Other than that, no specific roles for other people in my life- at least not comparable to the TMNT.

In my intro post, I did compare my pet mice to the TMNT.

Hmm, had to ponder that one for a bit. I cant really put one specific name to another. But I'd say that my seocond oldert bro is kinda Leo/mikey. He is the leader figure of me and my siblings, but also plays jokes on us and whatever.

Myself I would relate most to Donnie. I can be kinda smug if I know things other people don't. Plus I hate fighting. I'm kinda interested in the way things work. But I also relate to Mikey cause I'm always up for a laugh, I'm very loud and osmetimes hyperactive,

Weirdly, I'd say my mum is most simmilar to Raph, she is every emotional. And gets angry very quickly. She told me in her youth she could hold her own in a fist fight, and still can in a verbal fight.

I dunno about my friends though, we're always mucking about and playing jokes. My best friend is quite emotional and very passionate. She always stands up for others. So, I'd say shes most like raph as well.

Plus, my family is very close (apparently we interact as friends more than family) and we've always kept close toegther when there were times we might have lost a member.

Raph & Me...we're two peas in a pod, just one of us is fictional.
We're both loners. Even if I am married and got all that, at heart I'm still a loner. Funny thing is...so is my hubby! :D
So Raph's my main turtleman...we're alot alike. Do things OUR way, not someone else's. Think for ourselves. Even tho sometimes I'm pretty braindead! LOL!!!! :P
Oh yeah me and Raph, we got one good friend. Raph's got Case to hang out with, I have my best pal from high school, Bryon. I don't see him often but he's my best bud. :D

When I was getting back into Ninja Turltes when I was like 11 or twelve, my sister and two of my younger cousins (crazy dudes right there) got into them with me. So we ran around playing turltes all the time.

Other than that, no real signifigant comparisons.

I am a mixture of the turtles but my sister is like a female, human version of Mike. It's uncanny actually. No wonder he is her favourite - it's almost narcissistic.

We always joke that our Mum is Splinter because she always has something wise to say about any situation. She is very spiritual and guides us both through life with lessons and teaches us to take responsibility. i get most of my toughness from her. She's my hero.

As for me, I would say the positive traits I share with the turtles are:

Leo - I am sensible like Leo
Don - I am logical and compassionate like Don
Raph - I am passionate like Raph
Mike - I have an enourmous sense of fun like Mike

The negative traits I share with the turtles are:

Leo - I do have a tendency to be quite arrogant
Don - I can get too involved in what I'm focused on to the detriment of other things
Raph - I have a wicked temper
Mike - If I want something I will keep on and on at someone about it until I get it and I even annoy myself doing it. How my hubby puts up with me I'll never know!

hmmm.....I am relate more to Donnie. I am very quiet and reserved. I am usually in the background. It takes alot to get my temper going...you know what they say about the quiet ones. When my temper boils, watch out. But I do not like confrontations. I have a one-tracked mind at times. I am technologically literate...2 websites. I used to have 5. Then I have my nutty college degrees and you can probably figure out what they are in. ;) I have some Mikey in me because I love animals.

I am often told that my personality reflects each of the four Turtles in some way - maybe because I credit Splinter and the Turtles as much as my own parents for my upbringing:

Leonardo: Strong sense of justice and loyalty; leadership
Michelangelo: Goofy and whimsical, but also caring
Raphael: I don't get angry often, but when I do my temper gets to Raph levels
Donatello: Intellectual and shy, a self-professed computer geek and a pacifist who still trains in ninjutsu.

I think we all have a little turtle in us since they each have super personified characteristics. I can honestly say I have some of every turtle in me but I relate the most to Mikey.
I am very laid back, love to have a good time, playful and creative.
I protect those who I love but try not to take everything too seriously.

I think my parents would agree I have been so attached to the turtles, since I could turn a tv or hold a book, so no wonder I can relate so strongly to them.
Thinking about it I do see some similarities in my personal life and the people I attach too. I always have the tech guy around me because my dad always was so some of my closest friends have been tech oriented.
My best friend was a strong leader figure who showed many characteristics of both Raph and Leo.

^So, you believe it was my fate to end up THIS much like Raphael? TMNT is older than my brothers, but I'm older than TMNT. They're barely fans. My mother hates it. We didn't grow up together. Before this morning, it'd never really sunk in just how much they were like Mikey, and Don, and TMNT hasn't been an influence in their lives. Taking a few moments to take a look back, made me just kinda go..."Well damn." Looking back at the little groups of social outcasts I always ended up with, things worked the same way. Over, and over, and over again. These people tended to single me out further...especially at the "Cartoons are no longer cool" age. I didn't care, I wanted to be a cartoonist for ****'s sake. for a lot of those people, I'll never know if "Ninja turtles are stupid" because someone was listening, or because they were genuinely not fans. I could understand if I'd met other god damn living factual people who were like me...but everytime, I'd end up with Leo, Mikey, and Don. I don't remember putting in an order for an asshole, a goober, and a geek :P
And for you sensitive types, I don't mean those stereotypes in a bad way to insult the characters. *smirk* our "Leo" is one of my best friends in this world. He's still an asshole...and so am I? >.>

Wielding the sai as a defensive weapon as opposed to constantly using a stabbing/slashing pattern will greatly reduce your chances of injury. As would using the Dollar Store plastic crap.

I used cunning tactics on my husband to accomplish this goal. "Hey...imagine Sam with a set of chucks..." That worked surprisingly fast >.>

I've said it in other threads, but I identify with Raph. We both have hot tempers & I have been referred to as the hothead, though I don't see it :) My older sister is like Leo & we used to fight like Leo and Raph do. In fact, the scene in the movie where Leo & Raph are fighting after Leo finds out that Raph is Nightwatcher, could have been an adaptation of one of our many fights, only without weapons :P Weapons would have made our fights way more awesome :lol:

The only nunchaku we could find that weren't a weird woodgrain, or else painted with dragons were just black.

Hehe no worries about Mnemnosyne becoming Neko-Ninja. I already know all my kitties (even with help from my dogs) are no match for one unarmed rabbit. I miss my bunny :(

Nope. Mnemnosyne is not Maine Coon...I have no idea how she happened. Her mom's a shorthair, her siblings all shorthair. Her mother escaped the house a few years ago, and brought back this little surprise. Nobody on this street has cats, so I have NO idea how far she went, and umm...well my cat is a slut. I have 19 cats...I started with 1. I am SO glad they're all fixed now. She's the only long haired in the bunch. She looked funny when she was born, she looked black with a striped tail, and striped legs. Little did we know the stripes would stretch out as she grew XD

I'm waiting for my pizza...
I think lack of pizza for three whole days is what made Sunshine and I so sick. This is how I'm on topic...if we don't eat pizza, appearantly we'll both die. It's...very strange. We did real grocery shopping, and didn't eat pizza for three days because Drewatllo is actually here with the car. As soon as we got ahold of pizza again, our voices came back, and we were doing soooo much better. I believe in the miraculous healing power of pizza.
