Will Shredder last only the first season and die in Return to NY, a la the Mirage comics? Or, will he become a recurring villain, though not as recurring as the 80's cartoon? Anyone have the info?

No, we have no info on the second season so far, so we don't know if Shredder returns or not. I'd kinda like him to, since he's such a cool character, but there are so many other storylines to explore at the same time.

if they kill him off then it better be a defeat that is possible for him to come back, since he is such a cool villain.

I just hope he and the turtles don't fight for 7 years like in the old cartoon.

i read somewhere that the guys makin the cartoon said that shredder will be recurring, but i'm sure they're going to use the purple dragons and a lot, amd possible the triceratons and other guys. Right now i don't really care about season 2, since i haven't even seen an ep yet...

Hm... if they kill Shredder off, they'll have to alter the theme song! :D

>>I read somewhere that the guys makin the cartoon said that shredder will be recurring>>

When they said that, they were speaking of Season 1. THey're not going to be giving away plots for Season 2 yet.. because they probably havent even written an episode yet!

>>but i'm sure they're going to use the purple dragons and a lot, amd possible the triceratons and other guys>>

Count on it. Shredder and the Foot will be the *main* villains, but other kinds of adventures will occur during the season that involve other enemies and allies and such. It'll be much broader in terms of what the Turtles do and who they meet up with.

So in the Mirage series, Shredder is dead? How'd that happen?

Nturtle
01-31-2003, 05:18 PM
Yeah Shread head was killed by the turtles to avenge Hamato Yoshi, then he came back when the Foot remade him using worms to feed off his body and form shredder again, but Leo cut off his head

Perhaps Hun takes over the NY branch of the foot if Shredder dies?

Hmm... This makes me wonder if Karai will be making an appearance. Wouldn't that be cool? :D

I sure hope so!!!
But that can't happen for awhile obviously.

Didn't Laird say that in the 2nd season there would be other villinas, and Shredder would NOT be the main villian? Anyone else remember that?

Yeah Im pretty sure that He won't be the Main villain after the first season. But no one can really know... All we know that they have discussed the second season, wich is a good sign, I mean, the cartoon has not premiered yet.

Hm... I'm thinking that instead of actually dying, the Shredder will go "cartoon missing" after the Return to New York series. Then they can introduce new characters after that, and bring the Shredder back at a later date when they need to.

I'd still like to know whether or not the TMNT immediatly know who Shredder is. It would be kinda cool if they didn't find out until later on.

Hm... they probably won't know him right off the bat anyways. But I'm thinking they find out pretty quickly after the first couple of episodes.

Shredder I don't think is even introduced in the first episode. I think a little while later.

Both the Foot and the Purple Dragons are in the first episode. Baxter Stockman is in the next two.

" Episode Ten: "The Shredder Strikes" Part 1
Master Splinter explains more of the Turtles' history and the reason why they must battle the Shredder. "

sound like they may learn about Shredder in eppisode 10.

i bet they fight shredder every episode, but i think they should kill him at the end of season one and bring him back at the end of season 2.

I'm pretty sure Shredder will be the main villain, but there's going to be story archs that introduce other villains (like the Triceratons).

hm, im hoping to see the introducktion of leatherhead animated, that might be an interesting thing to be in the second season

I really hope to see some cool mutants. Maybe some from the toys that never showed up like they shoulda. Ace Duck & Man Ray mainly.

I'm thinking a Beaver mutant would rock or a Leech mutant. Perfect name for it would be Pond SCum.

I read few episode synopses, and it seems that Foot has a genetics labs underground. So we might actually see mutants in one episode!

Really? That be so cool!!

Karpo in the Mirage Comic did Shredder use mutagen or know of it?

GordonUniverse
02-10-2003, 01:43 AM
In the comics, the source of the mutagen is the TCRI aliens (Utroms), which are what Krang is based on (but it's not called Mutagen, don't even remember if it has a name). Shredder isn't involved, and doesn't have mutagen or mutant pals.

I know they're keeping close to the original comics, but by season one's end, how many "canon" stories are left? Certainly not so many seasons worth. I've read all of season one's synopsis, and I'm familiar with a pretty good-sized chunk of the Mirage books, but am still a fan of the cartoons, and I think it would be a shame if they left many of the original cartoon ideas for dead. It would just be cool if the cartoon brought many elements from all previous continuites to itself. Several things from the original cartoon would be made much cooler in the eyes of many, including me.

I mean, if Bebop and Rocksteady were brought into this darker-in-tone cartoon, I'm sure it would come off as very cool. They could pull it off with flying colors. Imagine a Bebop and Rocksteady that would be a real threat, still not the smartest guys in the world, but not just comic relief (as if there wasn't enough). It would be cool. Like maybe Shredder gets a hold of the ooze, himself, after the Utrom storyling (assuming it happens in full) and uses them on a rhino and a warthog (TMNT 2 style, as in the movie/comic/probably-new-cartoon version it doesn't mutate you into the animal you've recently been in contact with, but just mutates you), or maybe he can figure out something in that underground genetics lab of his that was mentioned, where he could actually transform members of the Purple Dragon gang into them. At any rate, I'm going to miss them if they're gone for good, and they probably are.

Sorry for saying "cool" so much. Sheesh.

Oh, and if the Utrom storyline does playout completely, they could always make one of them evil, and it could be... Krang! And that could always pave the way for the technodrome and many other things. But I think I read that Peter Laird REALLY doesn't like Krang, so probably not.

I like your thinking GordonUniverse. I like it alot. As much as I would love to see a darker Bebop & Rocksteady & Krang in the new show. I think it could be done and it be cool. Bebop & Rocksteady would be these tough mutant punks. It dosen't look like everyone feels the same way. I also don't want Bebop & Rocksteady gone forever. I love those guys.

But with a season two Mirage is gunna be out of all ideas and theres no reason why they can't have some awesome mutants. Karpo said something about a genetics lab in an upcoming episode, maybe Shredder will mutate someone I hope its one of the purple dragons that be so cool.

No shredder doesn't know about ooze in the comics, but He says that Foot is experienced with myths and scienese. Well right now it seems that the show might actualy have few mutants in it. But it will never become like the old show where random mutants are in every episode. If it's done with, style, it might be even cool.

Edit: And they can't use old characters even if they wanted to[wich they don't]. It is a copyright issue.

Well, they haven't used any of the space adventure storyline, with Triceratons and such. Renet and Savanti. The City at War storyline, with Karai. There, you've got at least another season, two if you add Volume Two storylines and a few original stand alone eps.

Yeah, I think that several episodes from the start of Season 2 should be adapted from #5-7 of the Mirage comics with some new elements thrown in.

If Shredder survives the events of "Return To New York" then he'll probably be played down in the second series (he only has 3 battles with the TMNT in series one anyway).

Hopefully season 3 or 4 (preferably 4 as the TMNT would be 18 then and it would be a good time to secure peace and move on to a different stage of their lives like Vol. 2 tried to do) could be based on City at War, not a straight adaptation as that wouldn't deal with Shredder or last 26 episodes, more a series where the events of City At War are always in the background even if they aren't the key story of an episode. It would be good to see Shredder and his Foot Clan fighting Karai, the Japanese Foot and the TMNT for control of New York City.

Well it has been said that this won be a mutant show. There might be episodes with Mutants/aliens, but it wont become the main thing in the show.
