"I'm just a Turtle in a rock and roll band..."

I recently got to rewatch the "Coming out of their Shells" concert (great nostalgic fun! I can't believe I actually correctly remembered the opening line to "Pizza Power" after all these years :lol: ) but after seeing a picture from the new toon in this (http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=20337) thread that showed Mikey's room containing a drum set, I started wondering if they had picked the appropriate instrument for each Turtle.

The concert has:

Donatello on keyboards
Leonardo on bass guitar
Michelangelo on lead guitar/vocals
Raphael on drums/vocals

The lyrics to Cowabunga also state that Raph wrote the music and Mikey the words.

I probably would have placed the lineup like this:

Donatello on keyboards (lots to program and the most buttons to press :D)
Leonardo on lead guitar (hey, he's the leader, right? ;))
Michelangelo on drums (aren't the drummers stereotypically the wild and crazy guy of the group?)
Raphael on bass guitar (dark and brooding 8) )

I can see them all taking turns at writing/singing the songs, each in their own unique style, but it was cool how the concert had Mikey the writer as the lyricist. :)

So what do you guys think? If the Turtles ever formed a band, what instruments do you think they would all play?

I totally agree with your lineup, JusticeForce. I myself just watched it for the first time & found it extremely entertaining. I also would have loved to have seen Shredder bust out some seriously badass guitar solo instead of him rapping, but all in all, it was totally fun :lol:

I believe the guitars from Coming out of their shells had only 1 string to pluck.
Anyway I would put Raph on lead vocals for hardcore heavy metal. He could put some serious anger into the lyrics.

I must confess that the only song I liked from the "Coming Out of Their Shells" Tour was "Skipping Stones" that Splinter sings. When I was young and I saw the Tour, I remember Splinter appearing on a big screen and singing the song to all 4 Turtles.

It was alright as a kid. I think the VHS of it is at my parents' house.

Nowadays the only song from that I remotely like is Pizza Power and that's because it brings back fond memories of the Turtles in Time arcade game.

Today I watched the entire "Coming out of their shells" concert.

When I was the age when it was played, I would have totally loved it.

Nowadays, I understand it is a promotional marketing gimmick. But still good entertainment.

I hadn't seen this until my hubby found it for me on ebay. I thought it was hilarious & I nearly fell on the floor laughing at all it's cheesy glory :lol: It was pretty much awesome :)

The music on Coming Outta Their Shells isnt bad compared to modern rock of 2007. I never watched the vhs, I only had the cassette from the Hut. Its not like its the worst album ever made, a distinction held by Linkn Park's Minutes to Midnight. In fact, it rivals the Transformers soundtracks cheese/awesome factor.

In other words, a ninja should not be seen and should not be heard!" :lol: ) But yeah, maybe Splinter would be OK with Taiko since its origins are Japanese. :)

I admit to quite enjoying the music of the "Coming Out of Their Shells" tour - since I rediscovered it I downloaded it and have been listening to it quite often. :D
