What do these people want? for something to never evolve?? It's great that tmnt has grown with the times. We have technology now which allows a realistic portrayal of the turtles as they were meant to be - I love the live action, but the turtles were supposed to be small and slender but muscular, not human size and bulky.

Some people need to get over themselves and accept that there is a natural life to these things and they grow the same as everything else.

Agreed. I'm thankful enough that the turtles came back in '03 after a seemingly eternal hiatus. I would actually reread the comics, replay the movies and games, and look at the toys wishing it would return and was ecstatic when it did. I admit I had my doubts about the new film being CGI, but after seeing the trailers I quickly changed my perspective.

Every single one of my friends that I show the new toon to or who I saw the new movie with inevitably asked "why didn't they have the theme song?" It makes me want to scream every time. Why would the new cartoon have the old theme song on it?? Lol. Another friend made me a little nuts just a few days ago, complaining after seeing a total of three episodes of the new toon that they don't talk about pizza at all, and that she misses the pizza. My only TMNT-savvy friend and I explained that the new toon is less goofy than the old, but she wasn't having any of that...she was convinced that pizza was an utter necessity. Argh.


OMG, edit, I just went and actually read some of the posts. This bit killed me: "Now, they may have been in the Archie comics, but those are not the real TMNT and are for kids." Clearly this individual thinks that torture of main characters, intricate politics, religious philosophy, war, lots of blood, heavily implied sex and Nazis are all things for children. That's just what I could remember off the top of my head, having not looked at those comics in a few years. Yes, the Archie series was light and silly at the start, but by the end it was f-ing good.

I may feel differently about their opinions if I felt that TMNT wasn't any good. If this movie had sucked big time, then they may have a point. But it was good without Bebop Rocksteady and the technodrome. The movie was supposed to be a sequel, loose sequel yes, but sequel nonetheless.

What you say is very wise and a mature approach. Unfortuantely, you can't please everyone but I thought the film did a very good job. The film wasn't 100% to my taste, but I accept that they were catering for other audiences besides myself and my love of gritty angsty narratives. It's just a shame that some people can't open their minds - the TMNT franchise is huge with so many aspects. There's always going to be something left out (just so happens that OT characters have lived their lives, run their course and have now been put to bed by Peter Laird which is fair enough - even The Shredder, once such a crucial character, is less and less predominant in the franchise - it's just a sign that Mirage know when to say when, which in my opinion is a good thing).

well, one can understand that to an extent. I mean, c'mon guys, turn off your TMNT knowledge for a second and pretend the ONLY thing you ever heard of the TMNT was the old cartoon and the movies. You loved them, but they eventually ended. Now all of a sudden there's a new show... but April isn't a reporter... Shredder's a Krang-wannabe in a robot suit, no Bebop, Rocksteady, Technodrome, Slash, etc etc etc. And if you didn't see the new show, and only heard of the new movie, again, no Shredder, the turtles are running around fighting weird monsters and stone statues, it's like TMNT III all over again.

I'm just saying, like if you compare the TMNT revival to the He Man revival, the new He Man show truly 'updated' the original series, revamping and improving the older characters and adding several new ones. Sure, changes were made, but most of the old favorites were there. They didn't just make the show about He Man and Teela and a whole bunch of guys we never seen or ever heard of, fighting off weird new villians, or revealing Skeletor to be a female midget wearing a 'Skeletor suit'. The He Man revamp was like how many of the older TMNT fans wished the TMNT revamp would have been, the return of all the classic characters but with the awesome kick-ass action that they weren't allowed to have in the older show (giving Mikey his nunchucks back and all that).


I know, for us more deeper more 'educated' fans, it's a breath of fresh air to see stuff based on the original comics. I actually surfed through the TMNT site a few times and read up on the original comics so where I saw some of the new toon eps I was like 'oh wow, just like the comics'. When I heard TMNT III was being produced I was hoping the main villian woulda been either Rat King or Karai (I loved Karai in Tournament Fighters) and when I found out Karai was gonna be in the new movie, I was like 'awesome!!'. But yeah, we gotta give these guys some understanding. For them it's like their favorite show has been destroyed, and we're all the TMNT elitist snobs that love the new changes and preffer to keep Shredder 6 feet under.

Well, I can't speak for everyone, but if that were the case for me, I would have did some research to find out why the revival was so different than the OT that I grew up with, instead of carelessly barking moronic assumptions and acting so stupidly stubborn.

In part 2 the producers explicitly prohibited the turtle characters from brandishing their weapons in any way, hence the yoyos and stuff. TMNT III was based on a short series from the Mirage Comics TMNT comic book. It's actually pretty good, but they gutted it for the movie.
