A regular Joe could defeat a ninja. It would take only take a little range and a handgun. Of course presuming that Ninjas don't use firearms...

they do.
almost every American ninjutsu dojo I know of teaches at least some basic gunfighting skills.
in any event, when you say 'ninja' I assume you are referring to the more or less 'traditional' ninja that would go all-out in his or her training (such as the tmnt undoubtedly did) and not just some shmuck thats taken a few classes.
besides, its hard to shoot what you cant see. in many ways, the art of invisibility (which exists on many levels) is the art of invincibility.

Well the TMNT rarely uses fire arms..
Yes, ninja have been known to use firearms in defense. But they generally aren't well-rounded or multi-purpose weapons, and I personally don't really like using them because of that.
Plus, there are many more ways of fighting a battle than combat. I gotta go with ninja.

That is because they don't carry guns. They do, however, undoubtedly possess the skill to use them if the need arised.

Special powers?? Like dodging a sword stroke blindfolded?? How about batting shuriken out of the air with a sword blindfolded?? Or sending a full-sized man flying with a two-inch punch?? Or crushing small boulders with one's bare hands?? Or knocking down relatively high trees?? How about throwing a full-sized man to the ground without even touching him??
Besides, I don't think 'martian powers' would be much help against sniper rifles, fully automatic weaponry, poision gas, and incendiary mines.
How could a ninja defeat that?
With a land mine.

A note on lasers, they are only condensed light. Harmful only to things sensative to light, like eyes. In "Laser Weapons" the purpose of the actual laser is simply to aim. though I suppose you could build a laser powerful enough, but it just wouldn't be practical considering all the alternatives.

Ummmm.... it doesnt quite work like that. There is a reason they call it 'subtle influence'.
Before making sweeping judgments about something that seems extraordinary to you, I suggest doing a little research. The exploits of Ueshiba, various Tai Chi masters, Hatsumi, and other martial artists are fairly well-known and accessible.

The Martians have the memories and knowledge of the millions of people they have abducted for over thousands of years. I think they would no better than to moniter TV signals.

ROTFL! I'm sorry, sorry, but the only people I've ever heard of that claim to be abducted were hardly "the cream of the crop". Knowledge from thousands of years ago would do them very little good. In that pool of information, the majority would say the world is flat.
That's it. Matthew is a Martian. And if they really do know that much about humans, why are they even bothering? Tell me that? Why do they care, huh? They should know, if we're willing to blow up our own race and planet, we ain't gonna hesitate to do it to them.
