In the last of "The Big" episodes during the 1987 cartoon, General Traag accidentally fired upon the Technodrome, thinking it was the entire Earth that entered the dimensional portal to Dimension X. Why would he do that when the Technodrome still was located on the Earth? Was it to damage the US military forces or something?

Yes, that was my intention you mere fleshy being.
We fired at the x/y coordinates of known military forces on earth, not knowing the sphere which passed the portal was not earth.

It was obviously not our most clever moment, but you have to consider two facts:
- spheres are all looking the same
- our eyes are made out of rock
