Anyhow, Leo and Karai show zero romantic interest in each other. Karai could be male and Leo would be showing the exact same behavior.

Leo/Karai had potential until Season 4...the idea of that ship pretty much died then and there for me due to Karai's massive OOC attitude that never went away...(I'll never forgive the writers for what they did to her character in Season 4...)

That was replaced with the much more realistic Chaplin/Karai. (A ship I also was really fond of)

I also liked the idea of Donnie/April (Casey just doesn't really fit with April in the new toon).

Actually Michaelangelo in the 2k3 series seems to be the only version of him that is completely asexual. All other mediums such as old toon, Mirage, image, Archie, and live action movie show Michaelangelo as having some sort of attraction to the oppisite sex. Except the new toon :-?

I mean Donatello has been implied with April, Quarry, and that blue faced girl from The People's Choice

'Shipping is the bottle of the barrel for virtually any fandom, I'm glad we don't depend on it like Teen Titans fans do, but there's still some depraved discussion whenever it's applied to TMNT.

Karai and Chaplin...always had some speculation they'll retcon Chaplin as Karai's in-canon, unseen husbund who gave her her late daughter seen in "City At War", even Berger was silent on the issue when I pointed that out.


Karai falling for him just seems more "real" than falling for a Turtle. There would always be that tension remaining, knowing what feeling for him cost her, as he was commited to his own cause to bring down The Shredder. Chaplin on the other hand was loyal only to her own, and never falterd...plus Karai-bots were more than a slight hint.

Because in their minds, having a canon story where a Turtle and a Human fall in love will somehow validate their personal sexual obsessions with these fictional Turtles (Don seems to be the "Starscream" of the TMNT fandom when it comes to psychotic fangirls), or in some of the more extreme cases, will somehow give these fangirls hope that their diseased fantasies of a TMNT character coming to life and falling in love with them will someday happen.

So...yeah. Turtle/Human lovefests are entirely too stupid and if there's one thing I appreciate about official TMNT fiction is that after over 20 years they've, for the most part, managed to avoid such furry-inspired nonsense.

Donnie does seem to interact with various women, such as Sydney and Jana. But I think the only one he has a thing for would be April.

I have nothing against yaoi (though I prefer yuri or het), but I do dislike slash as well as pairing up the Turtles with random human girls (especially when the girl represents the author or artist).

Well, assuming Don does have the hots for April (which I don't think is as prominent as so many psychotic fangirls insist it is), I see the Don/April/Casey thing as a sort of commentary on the stereotype that when it comes down between the friendly nerd or the braindead jock, women will always go with the jock (keep in mind I used the qualifier "stereotype", ladies; I'm not saying this is an absolute).

Don and April have all the similar interests, Don's smart and friendly and a and even physically fit...but he's ugly by human standards.

Casey has absolutely nothing in common with April, he's a bumbling moron (in season 3, anyway, and that's when their romance flourished), he's got a bad temper and likes to beat people up...but he irradiates that "badboy" persona girls find irresistable and he's handsome to boot.

So naturally, April chooses the dreamy oaf over the ugly nerd.

I don't think his employement has ever been addressed in the 2k3 series.

In Mirage he was shown working as a bagboy at a grocery store and getting fired becuase he wasn't smart enough to do that right (admittedly, he had a lot on his mind). In Image he was shown to still be working at a grocery store an one issue had him celebrating his "big" promotion to assistant produce manager.

Casey, as much as I like the guy, has always been shown to be a bit of a loser and a stooge.

But actually, it's been confirmed by the fellas at ninjaturtles.com that Don totally has a thing for April. And that certain parts were written specifically to show that.
