View Full Version : Mikey Needs a Girlfriend

Okay, not so much “girlfriend” as “human crush.” All three of his brothers have or had crushes on human women.
Don has always had a crush on April O'Neil. Leo felt the same way about Karai, until she tried to destroy his family in “Scion of the Shredder.” And Raph was interested in Joy (and it seems like Joy was interested in Raph, too!).
So why not Mikey? It’s not like it has to be central plot or anything. Just a nice little nuance for the fans to notice. Like maybe one of the Justice Force characters, maybe Ananda? Or Renet?
Of course, what I’d really like to see would be the Regenta Seri. She was cool. Of course, it would never go as far as she and Mikey having a physical relationship, like they did in Volume Four.
Opinions, people?

I don't think love relationships are necessary, not even for Michaelangelo. Maybe Donatello did have something for April considering their common interests, though I think all of them may have felt a bit of something for her, but it never ended up measuring up to more than brother-sister. Rapahel probably felt something for Joy, but they only met briefly and that never got off the ground. Leonardo and Karai, that was just a crock of crap people made up, it was never more than business with her.

I'm not for the Turtles not have hormones, but I also don't believe that any of them need a "love interest." The only time it's ever worked, IMO, was with Raph and Ninjara.

I very much agree with that but beyond them being in love nothing else would really work because of them being differnt animals and all.

Well of course love interests aren't necessary, it is an action series after all. For lots of people it's just good fun, though.

though having love interests would make the turtles feel a little more... real, and not like cardboard-cutout cartoon characters. I mean, who doesn't need love, right?

Go rent a chick flick if you want to see romance. Leave it out of tmnt unless it's of the same species at least.

meh, I find (at least in the few fanfics I've read that pertain to it -- never seen anything with actual Venus in it) That when female turtles are introduced it seems really orchestrated, like "Here be a Wimmens for you!" But that may just be bad fanfic writing?
Anyway, so people are saying that anything not turtle/turtle is gonna be bestiality, basically.
Doesn't quite ring true with me, though I can see why people would say that. I mean- why would they even be attracted to another species? *sigh* I don't know, for me, with a little love interest is better than without. Does this post make any sense at all?

Well, my main point was that they shouldn't have love interests for the sake of having love interests, which is what was basically being said is needed for Mike in the original post. But I also think it's unrealistic to think they don't occasionally get crushes on human females. While they may be different species, they live in the world of humans. That said, I'm not for any actual romance going on between a human and a Turtle. I just see no harm in something like Mike's crush on Mitsu in TMNT 3.

lol I didn't mean make the show a soap opera. I mean, the Raph/Ninjara thing worked because the comic didn't become a soap opera, it still was still an action series and Raph and Ninjara kicked all sorts of ass as a team, while Raph still remained one of the brothers too. Hell, Ninjara wasn't just 'Raph's girl', she was basically the 5th turtle so to speak, perhaps the direction Venus should have been taken in, and they never watsed time to show Raph and Ninjara being all gushy and stuff. There wasn't much love being shown besides the occasional kiss and the usual 'get off my girl' type of thing when some bad guy was trying to slice her head off.
I know the show needs to remain status quo, not have anyone move in and stay with the TMNT/April/Splinter/Casey team for too long, but at least show hints they like the opposite sex. Like a funny scene of Raph hitting on some alien chick only to get turned down and have Mikey razz him for it. It wouldn't effect the whole show for that once scene, but it's a funny joke, and it at least shows Raph isn't asexual.

I'm all for allowing the guys to have relations but SERI!?!? She's USELESS.
I'm all for it simply because #1 they are male turtles-anyone who knows these critters seem to be pretty interested in the ladies. Who's to say they haven't retained a little of their natural side. #2 They are young men. Don't most young men have interests in the gals? (I said MOST in case of few exceptions) #3 Having them experience all things in life, helps their character seem more realistic. Unless they gelded them(which is impossible) they should be VERY interested in gals. Just because one or another could have a lady friend doesnt mean babies. I wouldn't mind seeing one of them find a little piece of happiness, if it spending life with another person, so be it.
And it's not bestiality. Most typical "beasts" walk on 4 appendages, not two.
Anyways, who cares, it's just a cartoon.
I'm sick of people picking on lady fans who like a little mush with their favorite characters. Let them be and leave 'em alone. Even two OTT fans who can be a little annoying.

I couldn't agree more on the "love interests for the sake of love interests" thing. The crushin' is cute in-series, but an actual love story thing kind of takes away from the story. Something best left for fanfic :3

I don't mind them crushing I'm almost certain everyones crushed on some one at some point in their lives.
I was talking sexually and I really don't want to go there because half of the stuff people have been posting on the drome lately along those lines has made me super ill.

People pick on most of them because they actulyl write storys about being in love with a fictional character which to just about any person would come off as deranged.
It's ok to have mush I don't mind that but when a real person obesses over a cartoon or comic book character to the point of where they dedicate their lives and forget about real people in my opinion is a bit out there and would tel them they need to get some fresh air.
And no Budlady I'm not speaking to you personally I'm talking about people who have the turtles doing sexual things in images or who talking about having sex with a mutated huminoid turtle...it just comes off as a bit wrong.

Depends how far you take it. I wouldn't mind a night with April/Irma/Lotus/Karai/Aska/Rennet/etc but it's not like that's the prime factor of my entire life. I still have a job, a wife and brother and household to take care of and fancomics and stuff to draw. I'm much too busy to build an April shrine.

I guess fans of teenage mutants need to fantasize about their romantic involvement with normal humans.
