I asked Krang about this and he said we could replace the FAQ threads with this, a general question and answer thread.

So this is where you can ask any and all of your TMNT comic book questions. No question too small, no question too large. No question too obscure! Someone around here is bound to know the answer.

It can be "How much is this comic worth?" or "In what issue did this happen?" or "Where can I find this comic?" Really, anything. This is your place to ask.

So how much ARE all of my comics worth? ;) I have all of Vol. 1, most of 2, none of 3, all of 4. I have all of the Tales Vol 1 issues but Leatherhead (where do I find this one? Already checked mycomicshop and milehighcomics.) and all of vol 2 (gotta go to the comic store soon to pick up a ton!). I also have quite a few signed... but none by Laird.

Alrighty, here's my general take on the value of TMNT comic books.

With a few exceptions, it doesn't seem that individual issues go for a whole lot. I've got a stack of comics for sale in the buy/sell/trade forum basically for cover price ($2-$3), yet people complain about my prices being too high. But once in awhile you'll get a lot on eBay for all of Vol. 1, 1-62, and it'll sell for $500 - An average of about $8/book.

All of the magazine-sized issues seem to sell for at least $20, with the early first prints obviously fetching considerably more. The error cover of #3 seems to be the most sought-after/valuable comic after the first print of #1.

The entire run of Vol. 2 is still available from Mirage for $3/issue.

Most of Vol. 4 is still available from Mirage for $3-$4, too. I watched an eBay auction of Vol. #1 first print recently just to see what it would go for (since Mirage only has the second print available). The opening bid was low and I don't think it even sold at all. I don't think there's much demand for these books.

If you want to get a hold of Tales #6 and those places don't have it, watching eBay is probably your best bet. If you're not so concerned with the actual comic and just want to read the story, all of Tales Vol. 1 is supposed to be reprinted in a collected book sometime this year.

Signatures will probably help the value at least slightly. I personally don't like my books to be signed (unless I also have an unsigned copy) and if it is signed I would prefer that it was signed close to the date of publication. But that's just me.

Haha, I rambled a lot. But I guess in short I'd say that I don't think TMNT comics are relegated to the quarter bins anymore as they used to be.

Thanks in advance! :)

And just wanted to say hi to fellow Turtle fans.

Roseangelo

Nope, Tristan's right.

We assume in Vol. 2 that Baxter is dead, but in Vol. 4 we learn Don's secretly been keeping Baxter's brain alive all these years. Then in #9 he blows him away.

In response to the comics worth question, I just spent about 650 bucks on all of Vol 1, 2, and 3, Tales vol. 1, some Turtle Soups, the casey and raph microseries, casey miniseries, and the individual turtle microseries.

Dude, where'd you get all of Volume III? I've only got #3-8, what Mirage still had.

On another note, I have a question. In Tales #11 "The Quick and the Dead", a lady sends three Foot after the TMNT. Does this blonde chick appear again? Where?

The same group of Mystics are also in Tales #2, appearing right at the end after Splinter defeats the Mystic initiate on the spiritual plane.

^ On that note, where the heck can you get the newer issues of Tales?

Both those sites, (and ninjaturtles.com), are sold out of most of the newer Tales issues.

Basically I need everything from Tales #30 and up, and those sites only have one or two of them available. Why are the newer tales issues so scarce?

I'm also having a hard time finding the movie prequal books, I know they've been collected but I want them seperately as well.

Best I can guess is that they didn't print enough copies to accommodate the increased demand that resulted from the movie. Although I don't know what the deal with issue #32 was, because that one didn't even ever get shipped to my comic shop (grrr).

I have an extra of the April book that I can sell you if that's one you need.

If people want to send me their list of what they need I'm willing to bring them to Comic-Con with me and look around. But don't get too excited because there really aren't a whole lot of comics at Comic-Con and I'm going to have limited cash on-hand with which I can make purchases.

When did their relationship first begin
Has April officially adopted Shadow?
Where did she live between Return to New York and her move to California in City at War?

1. As of Vol. 4 they are married, but we do not know at what point in time this happened.

2. I'd say at the end of City at War, Vol. 1 #62 when everyone is reunited in Northampton. When they go their separate ways at the start of CAW it's sorta in denial of a relationship.

3. I don't think there's been any mention of this either way.

4. Northampton.

Actually it's more like the other way 'round. :P The kusari-gama is a manriki-gusari with a blade!

I find it ironic that despite using one in issue 9, and again in the old toon, when Karai used it as The Shredder in 2K3, he called it a "chain-whippy thingie".

Ninjinister

I'd say Volume 4 begins in 2001 (Dec. 2001 was when issue 1 was released), because I know they reference September 11th as being fairly recent in one issue (I think the exact term is "last September").

Actually, I think with the exception of time travel, all of the mainstream TMNT issues take place in the same year that the comic is released.

Are there collected books containing entire volumes? I'm gonna guess no so how many issues are usually contained in collected books...if there are even any collected mirage comics out there?

For Volume 1:
Collected Book 1 (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/books/volone1990.htm) - Issues 1-11 + Raphael #1, Michaelangelo #1, Donatello #1, and Leonardo #1
Collected Book 2 (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/books/voltwo.htm) - Issues 12-14
Collected Book 3 (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/books/volthree.htm) - Issues 15, 17, and 18
Collected Book 4 (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/books/volfour.htm) - Issues 19-21
Collected Book 5 (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/books/volfour.htm) - Issues, 16, 22, and 23
Collected Book 6 (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/books/volsix.htm) - Issues 24-26
Collected Book 7 (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/books/volseven.htm) - Issues 27-29
Soul's Winter (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/books/souls-winter.htm) - Issues 31, 35, and 36

Books 1-7 are not in print, Soul's Winter is.

What year does City at War take place in?

It was published 1992-1993; I would assume for it to take place during that time period.

Hello - question from me time.

In what issues were the first appearances of the Rat King, Leatherhead and Usagi respectively?

Thanks :)

MrPliggins

Rat King: Mirage: Tales of the TMNT volume 1 #4
Archie: TMNT Adventures #11 (not positive on this one)

Leatherhead: Mirage: Tales of the TMNT volume 1 #6
Archie: TMNT Adventures #6

Usagi: Albedo #2 (this is almost as high-priced as TMNT #1 1st printing)

My questions:

1) Is Bodycount #1 just a page for page reprint of Casey Jones and Raphael #1? Are there any differences other than the title, cover, and publisher?

2) Why are there two Volume #1's of the Archie TMNT series printed in the same year comprising two different numbers of issues? Wouldn't it have been easier to create a volume 2 continuing the initial volume rather than starting over again? And for that matter, what was the big idea having them start at issue #5?

3) What's the story behind the Turtles going to Image? Was it no longer financially practical for Mirage to write/draw/publish them?

CylonsKlingonsDaleksOhMy
08-14-2007, 01:42 PM
I can answer #1:

I think (THINK) that Bodycount #1 has more story in it. I've read the Casey Jones & Raphael issue, and it ends with Raph leaping off the roof.

I haven't read Bodycount, but the previews on the TMNT 'site show that Raph fights Johnny Woo Woo in #1. Thus, I think there's a little more to Bodycount.

Roseangelo

1) Is Bodycount #1 just a page for page reprint of Casey Jones and Raphael #1? Are there any differences other than the title, cover, and publisher?

RaphAttack is correct that Bodycount has more pages of story. Aside from that, there's no changes to any of the pages. Casey Jones & Raphael #1 does have a backup Guzzi Lemans story by Jim Lawson.

2) Why are there two Volume #1's of the Archie TMNT series printed in the same year comprising two different numbers of issues? Wouldn't it have been easier to create a volume 2 continuing the initial volume rather than starting over again? And for that matter, what was the big idea having them start at issue #5?

Well, the three issue mini-series was published in 1988, likely as a way to gage interest. When it sold enough copies to ok it as a regular title they started the regular series in March of 1989. And it did continue from the first three issues (although still adapting TV episodes); there was no repeated content. Why start again at #1 instead of picking up at #4? Probably just to have the excuse to publish another #1 and put more attention on the series. I don't know why they decided to adapt episodes instead of just jumping into the new stories.

3) What's the story behind the Turtles going to Image? Was it no longer financially practical for Mirage to write/draw/publish them?

Mirage made the decision to stop publishing based on the reasons you mention - It just wasn't financially practical. It wasn't a situation where they decided to stop publishing because Image was going to take it up.

Here is what's written in the back of TMNT Vol. 2 #13 (written by Michael Dooney):
You now have in your hands the final, at least for now, Mirage issue of Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. However, fortunately for all of us Turtle devotees, this is not the last TMNT comic. No way!

Back a couple years ago, I suggested to my good buddy, and Image Comics co-founder, Erik Larsen that it would be great to have a Turtles/Dragon crossover adventure. Being a huge fan of the Turtles, Erik jumped at the chance to work with the Turtles. Well, when I told Erik Mirage was going to stop publishing a TMNT comic he immediately asked whether he might stop into Mirage's shoes and begin publishing a monthly TMNT book. When I passed Erik's offer on to Kevin and Pete, they loved the idea. So, in June, 1996, Erik Larsen's version of the TMNT will be debuting under the Image logo.

Sorry, my question was not very clear. Let me try again. :tanime:

When I said "Volume 1," I meant "Collected Book Volume 1" not "Series 1."

What I mean is, of the regular Archie series (which follows the 3 issue mini-series) there are two volume 1 TPBs.

This one (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/books/tundra/one/one.htm)collects #5-9

This one (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/books/tundra/volone/volone.htm) collects #5-7 (three additional volumes follow this collecting #8-16)

My question is, why the two volume 1 TPBs? It's like they printed the first one and were like "Dag yo, that's way too many issues in a book, let's start again. And this time, let's spread it out." See what I mean?

And then there is the issue of, why start the TPBs at #5? Why not collect #1-4?

And of course, thank you for your answers.

I imagine they didn't collect 1-4 because 1-4 are adaptations of specific episodes from the cartoon, and original stories started at 5.

Parts 3-13 (Issues# 52-62) can be ordered directly from Mirage using this order form (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/order/catbandw.htm).

That's 33 USD + Shipping. You have to e-mail them at [email protected] to determine foreign shipping rates.

But that's a good start. All you have left is Issues #50 and 51.

For those I suggest:
(1) Local comic book shops
(2) Local comic conventions
(3) Comic shops you run into while out of town
(4) eBay
(5) Maybe these forums if you're lucky
(6) There are some websites (such as nostalgiazone.com (http://nostalgiazone.com/cgi-bin/comicxsearch.pl?query=Ninja+Turtles)) that sell old issues, but they are hit and miss. (Although it does look like they have a copy of Issue #51 right now.)

I imagine they didn't collect 1-4 because 1-4 are adaptations of specific episodes from the cartoon, and original stories started at 5.
Ah, that actually makes sense. It seems that they do match up with the first few episodes of season 2.

Very vile question.

In the comics, which Turtle has been responsible for the most casulties?

Ninjinister
08-20-2007, 08:50 AM
Hmmm... I don't have all of the comics, so I don't know... I know Don for sure is responsible for two major ones (Shredder I, Stockman) and one minor one (an Elite Guard), and Leo offed Shredder II before he became regenerated into a shark mutate... I honestly can't think of any characters killed by the Turtles other than those, though I am sure there are dozens more.

raphael_is_cool
08-20-2007, 09:01 AM
In a 'responsible for most casualties' sort of way I'd take a stab at Leo. Only because of the whole 'City at War' in which Leo feels responsible for the whole mess, having offed Shredder Mk. II.

Probably not what you meant but bleh. :P

The Shelf
08-20-2007, 10:45 AM
I'd say Leo and/or Raph have killed the most people. Don seems to be the one who kills the biggest baddies, though. He tries to avoid killing whenever possible, but the fact that he's killed the major villains proves that he'll kill only when absolutely necessary, i.e. a villain he knows will never quit being evil and will cause more harm if nothing is done to stop him. The only exception I can think of would be when he killed Baxter. He just got tired of him. :ohwell:

CylonsKlingonsDaleksOhMy
08-22-2007, 03:37 PM
I would definitely say Raph has killed the most, and Mikey the least. We always hear Don kills the least, and that he's the most peaceful, but I don't remember Mikey killing anyone period. He just K.O.s 'em. Same with Don.

See, Don and Mike are more peaceful cause it's a little easier to kill people with blades than with sticks. :ttwisted: It's also harder to NOT kill people, which is why Leo and Raph are responsible for more casualties. (Okay, one of the reasons.)

And yeah, Donny gets the big baddies, don't he?

Anyway, I think Raph has killed the most, because he doesn't have Leo's mental control. For instance, in Vol. 3 #13 and 14, he wipes out fifty-something mobsters in a bloodred haze.

That's not canon, but it is in continutity. And it's also only one example of many.

Neutrino- Donatello clips some of Splinter's fur. I get the impression it is to further analyze his DNA and learn more about their mutation. I don't think it would be just for sentimental reasons like a hair locket.

I like the reactions overall they had:

- Michelangelo took a swim to distract himself and release energy. He also saw a regular turtle- I can imagine him thinking about how different he and his brothers are, and what would they have been without Splinter.
- Raphael released his tension by chopping all the wood.
- Donatello clipped the fur to immerse himself more in his scientific work.
- Leonardo is the one to give the eulogy and shoot the fire arrow to the pyre. He also is the last one to leave- he is crying at the end.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but what exactly caused Mirage to shut down their doors after Volume 2? Weren't Eastman/Laird still millionaires from all the royalties they were getting from the cartoon and toys which were still around at the time?

I really don't get why it seems like they cancelled Volume 2 because they ran out of money. What exactly happened there?

Well, it was money. The Turtles were trailing off in general and it was no longer viable for them to continue publishing. I can't speak of specifics, but the money books aren't that simple. Kevin and Peter may have had a lot of money personally, but that doesn't necessarily translate to a lot of money for the company.

How did Nobody die in Vol 2?

In the lamest most half ass'd way I could think of.

He helps spring Raph from this military lab that was capturing aliens and experimenting on them. During the escape this giant Sarlacc rip off eats him. There's barely any mourning, their just like "Oh no" and then continue on and never talk about it. Really pissed me off. A main character like that just gets killed and they barely react to it.

I got a question since I don't feel like re-reading. Is the building the survivor we follow through out "City At War" is staying in re-built on top of the sex shop that got destroyed?

I don't know if this has been asked or not, but are all the stories in Turtle Soup (both the original and the 4 issues of Vol. 2) meant to take place in Mirage canon?

I recently re-read them and with the exception of a few odd stories used for gags, the more serious ones fit in with the Mirage universe. Has anything been said on which ones are important?

TMNT Comic magazine in the UK features these brand new stories.

I don't know if this has been asked or not, but are all the stories in Turtle Soup (both the original and the 4 issues of Vol. 2) meant to take place in Mirage canon?

I don't think it's been specifically said which of the short stories are "canon," but you know what I honestly think? If you like a story, make it part of your own personal canon and don't worry about what Mirage says.

Question about the old TMNT Magazine.

When I still had it, I remember a story of the origin of Chu Hsi as the Warrior Dragon. Then in TMNT Adventures, it seems like they kind of did it again. Is the original TMNT Magazine story non-canon, or was it kind of a sidestory? I don't remember now.

Roseangelo

I would never ever consider the TMNT magazine comics to have any connection to the Archie Universe, or any other Universe. Even if they share common characters, each is just a simple, stand-alone story.

And see my previous answer about canon. You guys are seriously too concerned about that.

You're probably right, though as a kid I very much saw the mag as an extension of the Archies. Though... that's really the only story I remember, the Warrior Dragon bit.

Actually, all three encounters prior to "Shades of Green" are accounted for.

Turtle Soup (one-shot): "Turtle Soup and Rabbit Stew"

Usagi Yojimbo (vol. 1) #10: "The Crossing"

Shell Shock: "The Treaty"

I thought they were. But now the tale in Shell Shock, as with practically all of Shell Shock, wasn't that tale originally printed somewhere else? I'm curious where.

I have a feeling it might have been in an issue of Usagi Yojimbo, since it's certainly not in any of my TMNT comics, and I have practically a complete collection.

Guess we'd need an Usagi expert to answer that one.

As far as I can tell, the original, never-before-seen, stories in Shell Shock are:

"Bottoming Out"
"Junkman"
"Meanwhile... 1,000,000 B.C."
"The Treaty"
"O Deed"
"Splinter in the Eye of God?"
And that jokey parody thing.

The Treaty has apparently never been reprinted in any of the Usagi collections either.

For Volume 1:
Collected Book 1 (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/books/volone1990.htm) - Issues 1-11 + Raphael #1, Michaelangelo #1, Donatello #1, and Leonardo #1
Collected Book 2 (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/books/voltwo.htm) - Issues 12-14
Collected Book 3 (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/books/volthree.htm) - Issues 15, 17, and 18
Collected Book 4 (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/books/volfour.htm) - Issues 19-21
Collected Book 5 (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/books/volfour.htm) - Issues, 16, 22, and 23
Collected Book 6 (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/books/volsix.htm) - Issues 24-26
Collected Book 7 (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/books/volseven.htm) - Issues 27-29
Soul's Winter (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/books/souls-winter.htm) - Issues 31, 35, and 36

Books 1-7 are not in print, Soul's Winter is.

Oh, and if you're not picky about original black and white vs. color, there were four graphic novels that collected TMNT 1-11 + Leonardo in color. That's how I got a hold of those issues, and they tend to be easier to find than the one big Volume 1 book. It would be great if they'd reprint that trade, but it looks like you could be waiting a while that way.

I made my first Tales of the TMNT issue purchase last week. What exactly is the deal with future Raphael? Have they told stories about the TMNT in the future before? Is this latest issue based on prior future-TMNT stories?

Nobody was shot and killed during the rescue of Raph from the Area 51 esque research base.

Lord Nightwalker

In the lamest most half ass'd way I could think of.

He helps spring Raph from this military lab that was capturing aliens and experimenting on them. During the escape this giant Sarlacc rip off eats him. There's barely any mourning, their just like "Oh no" and then continue on and never talk about it. Really pissed me off. A main character like that just gets killed and they barely react to it.

I got a question since I don't feel like re-reading. Is the building the survivor we follow through out "City At War" is staying in re-built on top of the sex shop that got destroyed?

It's not actually my scan, but from a Spanish-language TMNT site. There were some TMNT TPBs released in Spanish earlier this year and that was the #8 that was printed. Whenever Mirage gets to publishing Vol. 1 again in English, that's what we can expect to see.

At least we know it's complete now. I wonder how far along Peter Laird is in his re-mastering of the TMNT comics. Hopefully we'll see Vol. 1 out there again someday (just glad I have the originals, I love the art, as you say a lot has been lost in the new edition).

I tracked down the old graphic novels because I got impatient. Now that I hear that Laird is making all kinds of changes, I'm glad I got them already. When creators make changes to these kinds of things (like Lucas and Star Wars) they always risk making changes to something that was cool about the original, like Han Solo blasting Greedo or having a kind, older Anakin looking back at Luke instead of creepy Hayden Christensen.

IIRC, the first appearance of eyepatch-Raph was in Eastman & Lairds story in Puma Blues #20. Then in the back-up story in the Michaelangelo Christmas Special a year or so later, and then future-Raph in Archie comics.

I don't have access to the Eastman Artobiography right now, but I seem to remember that there is a painting of Raphael with eyepatch in there by him and Talbot, but I don't know if that would've been drawn before all of this or not.

If you don't care about whether or not the comics are in color or not, you can look on Amazon for marketplace listings on the old color trades from First Publishing.

Here's Volume One:

http://www.amazon.com/Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-Classics/dp/0915419092/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1201029507&sr=1-5

Issues 1-11 and Leonardo are included in those four books.

From there, the official site is selling Books 2-5, which will get you up to issue 20 something I think.

Apparantly, in the initial voice recording for "Time Travails", the actors pronounced it as "Rene'". When Pete heard about that he made them rerecord the lines so that the name was pronounced "ReneT", as he claimed that was the original intended pronounciation.

Trust me, that reason right there makes me wish that I hated it. But it remains a little guilty pleasure, probably largely because of how much I loved it when it first came out. I was seriously living and breathing Ninja Turtles at the time. I made my friends listen to the cassette endlessly to their annoyance and in 7th grade even used part of one of the songs in an art project.

But now it's only my little guilty pleasure.. it's not something I would bring up when discussing Ninja Turtles with people. Especially on national television. Hell, I was on national television with my TMNT collection back in 1996 and I didn't even bring it up then.

I like the new toon, it's just I haven't seen very much of it. I lost track of it when it first aired, so now that my interest in Turtles is back I've been trying to catch up.

I guess I appreciate COOTS (took me a while to get what that meant) as a really cheesy show. I like it in the "so bad it's good" way.

I don't think I've ever seen an episode of Next Mutation, but I don't like the idea of a 5th turtle, because IMO it was a blatant attempt at making the turtles fit the Power Rangers mold by adding a token girl.

No. The prequel comics were colorized exclusively for the UK TMNT Comic Magazine.

Were they all in color over there? How much of each book was color?

They were printed within the magazine, with one issue of a magazine printing only part of one of the prequel books. Each book was fully colorized.

Raph: Issues #1-3
Mike: Issues #4-5
Don: Issues #6-7
Leo: Issues #8-11

It doesn't seem like they have plans to print the April book. The next story on tap is Tales of the TMNT #38.

TMNT Collected Book 1 is an awesome book and if you just want to read the stories, not worrying about collecting the issues, that's the one to go for. However, it's out of print and usually expensive on the secondary market, so it may be tough to get.

If you're on a budget and looking for the best deal on the early comics, grab the four color graphic novels from First publishing. You can usually find all four for about $20-$30.

I'm wondering how many times the TMNT have encountered Usagi in comics.

First there was the clash between Usagi and Leo in Turtle Soup.
Secondly Usagi and Leo clash again in Usagi #10 of volume 1.
In volume 2 of Usagi in 3 issues the TMNT and Usagi join forces. One of the turtles mentiones though that Leo and Usagi have met 3 times before. I think I read somewhere that they both appeared together in a Critters issue but I'm not sure. Can someone help me out please?

I have two questions for people who have read more comics than me:

1. How did Radical and Complete Carnage manage to come back for Michael Dooney's story in TMNT Vol. 1? They both seemed dead at the end of Tales Vol. 1 #7. The summary on the official site doesn't really make it clear.

2. I have issue #2 of 5 in the TMNT Adventures "Dreamland" arc about the future Turtles. 1. Hard to say... on raw strength, most likely Rapheal. Most skilled, Leonardo... Most naturally talented, Mikey

2. Not that I know of.

3. Hard to say. Peter has to get off his ass and finish Volume 4

4. Maybe stuff like 'damn' and 'crap', maybe 'bastard' but anything stronger is written as %&$#&%!! and such

5. In the Image comics, Raph defended the Foot from some mobsters by wearing the Shredder outfit to scare them off. After that he became the new Shredder, but he led the Foot away from the crimianl path.

We don't know. But in all future versions, Raph is always losing an eye for some reason. In the Image comics, Raph took a missile to the face, which is why he wears a mask.

Mike was with a Regeneta (some kind of dinosaur woman but NOT a Triceraton) and apparently she has eggs, but the comic won't advance so we don't know if her eggs were Mike's or not.

I asked this in a topic of its own a LAFTA, but it's dropped to page two, so I suppose I can ask it again here:

I got my copy of Shell Shock today (great stuff, by the way), and I noticed that there's a 1989 copyright for Pteranoman and the Cave Babes by Donald Simpson in the story "Teen Techno Turtle Trio Plus One!". I figured, since the Triple T +1 and Splicer weren't mentioned, that they must have some other use in comics.

So I check Google, and find Pteranoman #1 was published in April 1990. So, I figured maybe he was part of another series before getting his own comic. However, according to TripAtlas.com, he was part of another comic series, Megaton Man, but only after having his own comic.

An anthropomorhic Pterosaur, Pteranoman is basically a human dinosaur, but had his own comic series prior to being amalgamated into Megaton Mans' fiascoverse.

The International Catalogue of Superheroes indicates that Pteranoman's first appearance is Pteranoman #1 ( http://www.internationalhero.co.uk/p/pterano.htm ). How can this be if he appeared in Shell Shock before that? Then again, this same site says Casey Jones' first appearance was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1.

So my question is, which of the information is correct, and would he be considered crossed over or spun off with/from TMNT?

In the second TMNT/Savage Dragon Crossover (the one with the Complete Carnage clone), my copy appears to have two pages mixed up. As Raph is being attacked by Carnage, towards the middle of the issue, a page or two are out of order, which offsets what should be a two-page spread (with one side now printed on back of the other).

Is this a problem in all copies, or did I get some miraculously rare misprint?

My copy is like that too, so I doubt it. I agree it looks really strange, they must have misplaced an ad somewhere as I assume the original intent was to have it be a two-page spread.

On that note, tracking down Savage Dragon #22 to see the conclusion to that story was a pain, I got it off ebay a few years ago.

New question: Did we ever find out who the cat creature was at Splinter's funeral? I now recognize the golem from Tales #10, but who is the cat creature?

I thought he may be one of the creatures from those Tales with the 4 Leo's, since there were cat creatures there, but I don't know if any be-friended the Turtles.

-Leatherhead is not a villain. Him being one was exclusive to the '80's toon. He has only fought against the TMNT on occasion, but that is due to other things, such as a misunderstanding or mind-control.

-Krang, Bebop, and Rocksteady made cameo appearances in the recent Tales of the TMNT #58, being represented in the TMNT Adventures universe.

Okay what about Metalhead? I remember him being a robot turtle but in the comics he looks like a normal guy with crazy hair.

Is it possible for me to get tmnt comics in South Africa? There's an entire thread on this board with a list of places to order TMNT comics from, including the official Mirage website. Just check each source's policy on international orders.

I'm going to guess no, as most of those ads are over a decade old.

Also can i subscribe to Tales of TMNT?

Kind of... I spoke with Katie (manages orders for Mirage) about this and she said that although there's no official subscription service, if you give her your credit info and address she can mail you the issues as they're released (with the standard 1-book shipping cost).

Are there any pictures of the clone Shredder "shark" monster that battled the turtles in the comics?

I just finished the Future Tense collection and I have a few questions.

1. What is Mezcaal's backstory(if there is one)?

Question 2 is more about the book itself. I was reading through and notcied that 2 pages were exactly the same and were back to back. Is anyone else's like that. It's the page where the 2 Raph's are talking about not being able to breed.

How much older is Splinter than the turtles? I keep imagining him being like 60 years old but is there an exact age?

THANKS!

-mmIt's never defined. Rats don't live very long so in reality he's probably only a decade or so older, with aging effects having been amplified by his mutation.

OK, I have a rather random question. Is anyone here aware of a fan made online comic that revolves around the Turtles 17 years later shortly after the City at War arc. They have gone their separate ways, Mikey's a writer living with Casey, April and their daughter, Shadow. Raph's decided to make himself the master of some poor mutant turtle named Renoir, who is really Shadow's best friend who was once a human. Donny became a bit of a loner and Leo has become a bit of a drifter?

Is there a thread on the Technodrome that might have brought up this comic once before? Do any of you who know what I am talking about like the fan made comic?

From Ninja Pizza (http://ninja-pizza.blogspot.com/2009/03/kevin-eastman-announces-new-tmnt-book.html):

The contents of the book:

Jan Strnad & Richard Corben's "Turtles Take Time" in its original color (Vol. 1, #33)
Mark Bode's "Shell of the Dragon" in its original black & white (Vol. 1, #18 )
"Me, Myself, and I," the first appearance of Casey Jones, in color for the first time thanks to Justin Norman (Raphael #1)
"Fun With Guns," a TMNT short comic by Eastman with new colors by Blond (Raphael #1, second print; Shell Shock)
"The Unmentionables" by Eastman and Talbot in its original duo shades/sepia tones (Vol. 1, #14)
"49th Street Stompers" (First graphic novel Book III, Shell Shock)
"Complete Carnage and Radical" (Shell Shock)
"You Had to be There!" (Vol. 1, #7 back-up story)
Plus intros, pin-ups, and more!

It's definitely worth getting.

Here's one to challenge the comic connoisseurs...

Has there ever been an event in the comics where one of the boys 'quit' the clan? Or a time where Splinter and one of the boys is at odds.. severe odds? I ask this because I have been getting back to finishing some of my fan-fictions. Something a bit like the Prodigal Son...

Any help would be appreciated.

We all know about the buy out from Nickelodeon and that some of the comics that were in the process of coming out were either cancelled or put on hold indefinitely; Source Book/Forever War/ETC.
Do you think petitioning for these comics to get released to Nick/Viacom or perhaps Peter himself, since he has reserved rights, would be a good idea?

It's a far-fetched dream, my friend. First & foremost, Peter does not wish to associate himself with the turtles at all anymore given the exception of business affairs. He's shown us in varrying degrees that he acts more towards the direction of what he feels the franchise 'needs' rather then what the fans want. Also, if the subject beared the same level of importance to him as it does us, he would've pushed for it himself. On another note, yet not lighter one, Viacom is a big robotic suit and tie cooporation & I highly doubt they value the opinion of a demographic they have no interest in conditioning themselves to. I have no intentions of souring your mood but the facts are grim these days. However, I would surely sign a petition to bring these comics foward & although they generally aren't successful in carrying out the objective I'm sure many folks here at the technodrome would also put their gripes aside & sign it aswell.

He only reserved rights related to the Mirage universe, and only for comics, so both those are out from peter or mirage. And Nick wouldn't do it directly, you'd have to get someone to lisence it.

So, Tales Vol2 is coming to an end with issue 70. But, from what I gather, this was a decision taken long before anyone knew about the Viacom buyout.

Does anyone know (rather than just suspect) why Mirage decided to cancel the run?

Because it was, and has been for a long time, losing money would be my first guess.

The comics have been a vanity project for Peter for a long time. They only existed because Pete wanted them to. Obviously that interest has been fading for quite some time, so as soon as he decided he didn't care anymore...thats all she wrote.

That really just applied to Vol. 4. Tales was simply an issue of how long Peter was willing to pay for it.

So Pete was keeping the comics division going even without it making a profit? I can think of few companies that would ever do that.

I guess he could always justify it while ever the TMNT licenses (videgames, films, cartoon) were bringing in lots of cash. Was there any indication these things weren't making as much as they used to do?

It would be cool if TMNT had a triple digit milestone number, they deserve it IMO.

There was a point where sales were sliding across the board. The decline of support for the toys and the animated series were the big hitters.
