r.i.p. TMNT

while most
of you come here because you played with turtles as a child and grew up with them , i come here so i can keep up on the latest info for my son, as i was done with toys when the turtles came out. but with my sons love of them, i came to love them too.
but , like in most kids lives , things (toys & hobbies ) come and go. and for my son , the turtles are no longer #1. he LOVED them for almost 4 years which is a really long time in kid time. but all good things must come to an end. he dont play with the toys ( and we managed to collect them all, 2k3 and on) anymore, doesnt watch the cartoon anymore, all interest is gone.
what brought this end to us? a few things. 1 . fast forward , enough said. 2. he was really into them for a LONG time. 3. this is the big one ........................ the TRANSFORMERS. yes the transformers are mostly responsible for the turtles demise in our house.
so one 80's icon brings down another 80's icon.
the turtles will be missed.
i think i'll still collect the dvds for him and MAYBE the new movie figs, just so the collection is complete.
the turtles join a short list of other favorites that have perished
the wiggles (thank god!)
thomas the tank engine ( damn those little trains are $$$$$$)
and now TMNT
the only thing he still loves and this has been since he is 1 1/2 is super MARIO. i guess as long as nintendo keeps krankin out games , he will love him. and besides who doesnt love their wii?
i will still check up on the guys, .,,sorry im all choked up , i got to go have a good cry now ..... no im only kidding , im going to find transformers now! see you at the toy section !
bye,

Things have come and gone but I've never outgrown TMNT. I have as a kid and even as an adult gotten into other things though. That doesn't mean I love TMNT any less. I'm not telling you to not take an interest in your kids obviously, but sometimes you'll never know what goes on in there heads. I just built some legos I took apart 15 years ago. If my parents tried to figure out what I like they'd have to spend all day keeping up with me. Besides TMNT is in a lull right now and Transformers is the hot thing. Once TMNT comes back or your kids get bored they'll go back to the turtles. They always go back.

TMNT is one thing that's come in my life that will never go away. I don't usually pick up fads and then throw them away; I take in something only if I know for sure I like it and always will. TMNT is one thing that will stay in my life to my dying day, and nothing anyone says or does to me will change that.

I forgot to say... If he's anything like me he'll start liking them again in his teens (then again I only quit liking the turtles because there were no more turtles to like!)

Funny thing turtles has always been that one thing I always liked. No matter what I always loved turtles. Sure I liked Power Rangers as a kid, and Poke'mon, and Dragon Ball Z but to me turtles was always on top.

What are we talking about? Did they cancel the toys or something? I mean, we have at least one more season on TV, comprised of the lost season and the rest of Fast Forward... we have at least one more wave of the movie figures coming out.... and if the new concept pulls through, we'll have at least one more line of toys.... (unless they decide to make a sequal to the film).
Or is this about him not liking it anymore. He probably grew out of it, or got tired, of thinks Fast forward is a piece of crap....
There are plenty of things coming... we just have to be patient.... unless there's some unpleasant info that popped up between 10PM and 10 AM last night....

I am so sorry for your loss. I understand the pain. I am trying to encourage my nephew to like tmnt, but my hubby is responsible for buying presents for him and came back with stupd Ben 10 stuff. I asked him why he didn't get turtles. His answer: "Because they wouldn't get past you!" How dare he, I ask you!
So, nephew will not benefit from said joy of said turtle toys.

While this is too bad, I have to say that you did frighten me. From the title of this thread, I thought that Playmates canceled the toy line. PHEW!!!
I find that interests like this tend to be cyclical. Just as many people from my age group are re-discovering TMNT due to nostalgia, someday your son will look back and remember the 'good ol days'. I have to confess that I too grew out of it, and fell away from the Fab Four. That all changed when the new, grown up TMNT cartoon came out. Now I am one of the faithful again.
So don't worry. Just like millions are re-discovering TMNT in this day and age, in another 10-15 years, maybe HIS children will be harping on him to buy them TMNT: Fast Battle Forward Nexus Patrol Mech Gear toys. Who knows what incarnation TMNT will have? Then you can hobble into the room where your grandkids are, and say 'You kids think you know TMNT? I knew TMNT when is was BRAND NEW.' And freak them out that something they love could be that OLD.

Shame about TMNT, but liking Transformers means your kid definately still has good taste at least.
When I was a kid it worked backwards, TMNT took over from Transformers. These days I still adore both.
Give it some time, the TMNT love will come back in some form probably. If we get a movie sequel and the Lost Season, he'll probably still enjoy watching them it sound like from what you said.
