So, who's all going to the San Diego Comic Con next week? I'll be there. My schedule of events is posted on myspace.com/jakeblack and jakeblack.com.

I'd love to meet any of you there, and sign Tales 20, the moview prequels, "Leonardo Returns" or the UK kids book, if you were lucky enough to snag one of those! (I'll sign my other works, too, of course. I just want to be TMNT centric here).

Next week?

I should really check and plan these things.

Anyone have any luck looking for Turtles related stuff?

So far I've managed to find one issue of the Mirage series that I needed (as in, something that would be covered by the Collected Book Volume 1 if that was easily available).

I read "Leonardo Returns" at my library and loved it. My favorite part is when Raphael tells Leonardo "You do not understand the first thing about me, Daddy's Boy!".

I wish I could go to Comic Con. But I live in Florida and have a full-time job that is in its busiest season.

Last night I ran into Janus Prospero while he was meeting Kevin Eastman at the Heavy Metal booth. I bought my Kevin E. and Simon Bisley action figures and had them signed (and had a good, fun go with Simon  ). I think my only other purchase of the night was at the Doctor Who toy booth (yay for not having to import!).

No sign of Tristan or Jake yet.. I'm hoping to run to Jake's signing today.

My Con photos, few as there are so far, are here (http://www.flickr.com/photos/roseangelo/sets/72157601014317842/).

Paid for. Friday. Me and my kiddo. Gonna be there bright and early, and get a good spot in line. I hope. If we leave early enough I'm hoping we'll beat the traffic 15 at 78 down into SD...and use the express lanes. woohoo!

YAY DrWHO Toys! Chris'll wanna check that out. Maybe he'll get another Dalek.

Simon Biz? Oh man, I'd love to meet him. I love his crazy artwork. I wish I could have him draw Raph & Lobo done up as drinkin pals, with dolphins in the background of course. I miss Lobo's dolphin buddies. :P

I thought Jake was gonna be at the Marvel booth? I went there, but there was no Jake. :(

I also tried to call Tristan at the hotel, cause I thought we were in the same one, but they didn't have you listed. :( If either of you wanna shoot me a PM maybe we can arrange a time/place?

I'll post today's pics to Flickr as soon as I can find my camera...

I saw those two walking into a panel upstairs. :)

Has anyone else been trying to find Ninja Turtles items but has been having a hard time doing so? So far I've found some action figures here and there, and maybe one comic booth that had a box just for Ninja Turtles comics. I guess since it was an indy comic it will be harder to find than the oodles of Marvel and DC.

Other than that though, I've done pretty good. My trade paperback purchases have been around 8 or 9 so far. Not as crazy as previous years have been.

Sorry, Rose. I thought it was at the Marvel booth, too...but it ended up being at the Dabel Brothers booth (a Marvel imprint.) SORRY!!

Here is my turtle-related round-up from the con. I'll put it all under a spoiler cut since there are pictures and I'd like to save people having to scroll through it all if they've seen it before and/or don't care.

This is actually the first Comic-Con I've ever been to, so it was all very exciting.

Before the doors opened on Wednesday, I looked through the program book and organized my plan of attack. As soon as I was in I made a beeline for the Heavy Metal booth. Kevin was there and people were already talking to him and having him sign things. One guy even brought a new movie poster, which didn't really make a whole lotta sense to me, but whatever. So I kinda meandered around the booth looking at all the scantily clad women and saw that he was selling his artobiography (50% off, w00t.) I was going to have him sign my collected book, volume 1 and I had actually constructed a device out of cardboard, duct tape, and a zip-lock bag to keep it mint. But when I saw the artobiography I felt that was the way to go.

About this time Leonardo from TMNT-L showed up and started talking to Kevin. We've never met before (on or off line), but I knew her by reputation. Kevin showed us a picture of his kid, who is adorable. Then her and I started chatting about the Masquerade last year and the difficulties of wearing the Leo costume. Roseangelo and her army showed up shortly thereafter. I think tokka was with them, but I'm not sure. (Maybe one of them can confirm/deny this?)

Anyway so Kevin signed the book I had just bought. He also drew a turtle in it with "COWABUNGA!" Way cool. We talked a bit. I asked him what he thought of the new movie and he said that he loved it. He felt that it was true to the turtles and he gave Kevin Munroe mad props. I asked him if he liked it better than the original movie and he was like, "No way." Makes sense since it was based off his work.

Then I got my picture taken with him.

:D Kevin is such a cool guy. Just talking to him for a short bit, you know he's the kinda dude that you could just sit back and have a few beers with.

Let's see. I picked up a Usagi Yojimbo action figure from the Darkhorse comics booth. Then found my way to Stan Sakai's booth and bought a TPB from him (which was already signed, but he was willing to personalize for me.) I showed him my Usagi figure, which I had originally planned to open and display at work, but he asked me if I wanted him to sign it, so I was like, "SURE!" Now, he's staying in the box, LoL.

For some dumb reason I didn't get my picture with him then, but Saturday I came back and got one.

It was a little over-exposed, from the flash but I was able to fix that with a little photoshopping so it no longer looked like we were glowing.

Finally, I saw this dude, dressed up like Casey Jones:
http://img154.imageshack.us/img154/4396/caseypt5.jpg

Oh yeah, and Sunday I skipped out on the Con and went to SeaWorld where I saw some real turtles.

Heh, cool. But he looked so clean cut when I first saw him. :-D

I really dig the April/Casey couple.

It's really cool that you've seen Kevin so much that he knows you guys. When I asked him for a pic he was all, "Sure, let me get out from here for it. I gotta go say, 'Hi' to my girls too." ;)
