This is something that I always wondered in the TMNT shows. I love them and I always will and there is something that I always wondered. In the TMNT's games like TMNT Tournament Fighters and Mutant Melee and things, how is it that the turtles have their powers mostly in their video games where Mikey is shooting fire balls out of his mouth and flying in the air with his nunchukus and others doing their moves as well but they can't do them in their shows? It's not a big deal or anything, it's just something that was always stuck in my mind that I just had to make a thread for it. What do you guys think?

well.... because it's a videogame. I mean, the TMNT never had fireballs or other kinds of super powers besides their own ninjitsu skills. The closest they ever had were their powers when they turned into Mystic Turtles and turned into dragons in the 'lost season' of the new cartoon (the season before Fast Forward).

Well they have to make it fun by having the turtles having their own special moves. It's just better that way.

Back in the early 1990's, many versus fighting games were inspired by "Street Fighter II", launched in 1991. In that game, many characters could send away fire balls. Many fighting games were released the following years, one of them was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters. So it was probably just a try to copy Street Fighter II themes and hoping it would be the same success.

It's a fighting video game. They need more than just weapon fights.

Send away fireballs? LoL... that wording made it sound like they put two proofs of purchase in an envelope and waited 6-8 weeks for their fireballs to be delivered! :D
I'm just razzin' ya, man... I just found that too funny.

Yes. I think they could at least use shuriken instead.

I can see Mikey PLAYING a TMNT game, playing himself and LOVING the fact he could shoot fireballs from his mouth and all that(if there was a game like that I mean) ...I could so see that.
Sometimes I wish I could animate this kinda stuff, it'd be a kick.

Exacalty. But then again, Street Fighter borrowed a LOT from DBZ.... especially the Kameha Meha wave...

... Which in turn was inspired by actual myths of martial artists who could perform qi attacks like that.
Anyway, anybody remember the special "Donny" video on Mutant Nightmare where he made the "Best of TMNT" game?

Like what Coola Yagami said, the closest that they got to their powers were they became Mystic Turtles in the "lost season", but they didn't really have them during their normal times, but it's all cool though.
