what did everyone think of the saturday morning solo adventures? The ones where an episode would focus on one turtle and the villian would be a one off villian like a crime boss or a mad scientist. I did not mind them at all. the villian always had a good motive. some had silly plots.
I thought it was unique and fun. I liked Shredder and Krang though, but still they were unique.
IT had ended by 1993.

I liked them too. Especially the Leonardo ones, of course. They allowed for greater character development of each individual Turtle. I would not mind one bit if they did something like that for the 2k3 toon.

Would you mind being a bit more specific? are these episodes on the dvds?

Some episodes sucked, like "Leonardo VS Tempestra". Others were good, like "Michaelangelo meets Mondo Gecko".
I believe "Take Me to Your Leader" can be seen as an adventure like those, but it's more an ordinary TMNT adventure without Leonardo (expect for the begninning and the end) rather than a Leonardo solo adventure.

I always liked Mondo Gecko so I liked that episode. I also thought Raphael Meets His Match was good. However other than that, I kind of missed having them as a team.

There are about 12 of those in the Season 4 Box Set. Perhaps more, since I think Mikey gets a third solo adventure.

Well, you do remember they had ind. eps in the NT too right?

Well, even in the ind. eps they usually had the whole team participating, like in Leonardo vs Tempestra, every turtle got a monster to fight, and every turtle showed up at the battle at the end of others like Michaelangelo Meets Mondo Gecko, Take Me to Your Leader, and Donatello Makes Time.
I agree the individual eps are pretty good, but I prefer the eps that emphasize teamwork, and a majority of the eps in both the OT and NT usually stick to this idea.

They do have individual development episodes in 2k3- but I want to see even more of them, even if they are side stories that some would consider filler episodes. I would not mind seeing "Bad Moon Rising" with Angel in lieu of Shadow, or "Loops".

True, in that 'Donatello trashes Slash' ep, it's basically about Don messing up, cleaning his mess, and getting his shell handed to him by Slash. After that the other turtles show up and the rest of the episode continues like a regular TMNT ep.

The solo adventures were the best part of seasons 4 & 5 imho. After 65 eps of the TMNT vs. Shredder it was a welcome change of pace. Some of my favorite eps are from those seasons.

personaly I loved the solo episodes of the fourth though sixth seasons. For me it was one of the seasons saving graces for a lack of ungoing story arcs.
However I do think that Raphael was gyped as far as solo episodes go  he didn't get a single solo episode until season four and then all he got was three, while Donatello got like five and Michaelangelo got about the same amount.

Agreed. Raph is definitely more a character for the big screen and seems to get shafted a lot in the toons. Oh well. Can't complain. He did fairly well in film 1 & 2k7.

On the other hand, Raphael in the toons has got the least stereotypical and most varied personality of the four, so whenever he is the center of attention, and he has been, and even when he's got any attention at all, he kinda stands out.

They probably just named these episodes like that to sell the VHS's to fans of a particular turtle (briliant marketing tactic right?) You guys have listed some already, but like Leonardo Cuts Loose... has nothing to do with Leo "cutting loose" it's a Casey Jones ep. with him and the turtles fighting criminals that take steroids through a laser beam :o

I always liked them all together in an adventure, but that way is also good. ;)

what was your fav individual turtle episode (name of episodes)? and which was your fav turtle inviduals (turtle that stared in those episodes). Why were the solo adventures ended by 1993? did any of you like the villians in the solo adventures they were always like some mad scientist, a normal human wanting to get even with everyone or a crime boss. some of the plots were wierd liek shrinking military bases to get revenge on the naval academy. or some of these villians would have a james bondish plot like rotating the earth throwing people off the earth or haley's commet.

One of the solo eps I remember is The Four Musketurtles where Leo gets hit in the head and acts like one of the Three Musketeers. I didn't get to see the end of it though because I had to leave for school. That always happened to me. However, I liked what I saw of it.

It's not a solo episode. It's just an "ordinary" season 3 (1989) adventure, involving Krang, Shredder, Bebop and Rocksteady.

I agree about Raphael standing out when he gets his own episodes. He's always been a big source of humor, and many of his eps are full of jokes, most notably "Raphael Knocks 'em Dead", and to a lesser extent, both "Raphael Drives 'em Wild" and "Raphael Meets his Match" (Although the last one is my favorite of the three).
The turtles do, indeed, get solo adventures in the new toon series, although I don't know all the episodes' names like I do for the original cartoons (Having the DVD's helps!). Leonardo had his adventure with The Ancient One. Raphael had adventures with Casey Jones and that incident where he teamed up with a young boy after being blinded by foes. Donatello had an adventure with Kirby, the artist (Taken from an original comic story created as a tribute to Jack Kirby). And Michelangelo had a few adventures as Turtle Titan, both teaming up with Silver Sentry and his descendant in two separate episodes. Huh... is it just me, or do these new solo adventures find the turtles teaming up with new allies a lot?

If you wanna know which epsiodes are for which turtles, I created a list for the whole series in the 2k3 forum section. I was thinking of doing the same for this old one too eventually, but I'll have to wait for the rest of the eps to be released.
