Bring Back Volume 4!

I was organizing my comics the other day, boarding some and putting them in order. I looked over at my huge stack of volume 4 comics and picked one up. It was the issue where Leo finds the Battle Nexus. I remembered what was going on so I grabbed the last issue and read it.

I actually liked where it was going quite a bit. I mean I'm really interested in seeing what is going to happen to Mikey. The way it seems to be going he's in the middle of a huge war. I liked his prison escape alot. One thing that makes it interesting to me is he's always been the care free one and now he sorta has to grow up real fast.

I also liked where Leo's story was going, this new Shredder character could be very cool. I want to see where that is going as well.

It's been just over a year since the last issue was released. At this point we have no idea if Volume 4 will ever be finished but I know personally I'd like to see it happen. I don't know about you guys but no matter what I like to see a story finished because no matter how much I may dislike it at first after reading the whole thing I could grow to love it.I know it left a bad taste in my mouth the first time I read it but when I look back on it I don't think it's half bad.

Would anyone else like to see volume 4 return?

I want it to return. I haven't seen any but I read the summaries on the site. It's all cool, but c'mon, finish the story dude.

Laird said in the letters collumn that he never intends to finish the TMNT story and that they'll likely just be left hanging. So really, with the creator guaranteeing that the TMNT will never receive closure, does it really matter if the story ends on a cliffhanger now or ten years from now? Either way, we'll never get any plot resolution.

At least with it over now we're spared from more brilliant "April is a drawing" concepts.

I want to see it continue too, most for the Oroku Yoshi storyline. That looked very cool, you have to admit.

Aside from that, Volume 4 is basically the current timeline of the Turtles lives, since Tales takes place all over the timeline. I want to see the current Turtles moreso than other adventures they had in the past.

I'm certain Laird will get back to writing at some point, but he sure is taking his sweet time with his hiatus. Given his work on the movie is done, what else could he be stalling for?

No thank you. Wrap it up with 1-2 issues if you must, but I would prefer to instead see a TMNT comic book series that actually reflects on the characters and has a chance to be successful.

Sorry Rose gotta go with him on this one if Peter brings back volume 4 that means he and Lawson will be working on that and it will open tales back up to the new artists and story tellers :)
No hear me out on this idea everyone including Peter ;)
Perhaps Peter & Lawson should switch places for awhile Peter would take on the art and Lawson could take on the story what do you guys think of that idea?
I think it would be pretty interesting and stop allot of peoples complaints and yet the two of them still could be working very closely together on the project.
I don't know about anyone else but I really Miss Peter Lairds art he's an amazing artist and should be drawing!

Yeah I agree, what we talked about earlier with the inkers on volume 4 and in the old mirage comics was a good point. If you side by side compare them you see a huge difference. I bet if someone else inked the issues they'd look better.

I'd like to see continuation of it to be honest. And make the plot good if possible. There are so many versions of TMNT, that it is hard to consider Mirage the "true and only veritable version". I'd like to see closure eventually of Volume 4- even if Tales adventures continue and some of them are futuristic.

It's pretty easy, actually. But it's not that other versions don't have great merit (some more than others).

I really, really want to see Vol. 4 continued/concluded. They at least need to bring Raph and Don back to normal. I've mentioned this idea before, but with Mike seemingly about to go to war, I think it would be a cool twist if the Styracs asked the Utroms for help and Don ended up on the other side of the war without even knowing he was helping the opposite side of Mike (since none of them even know what happened to him). Of course, the conclusion of the war would be Mike and Don finally realizing what's going on and working together to calm things down. I think Raph's story should continue to go on his own for a bit and eventually tie into Leo's once Leo returns from the Nexus. I have a bunch more ideas, but I won't go into them here. Look up my thread "I dream of Volume 4" if you're interested in seeing the rest of my ideas.

I'd like to see it conclude, too, but Volume 3 was my favorite and it never got total closure. This is even worse, though, because Image ended with an actual ending. Volume 4 is just waiting for the next issue.

You guys ever think we won't get the comic back until the 25th anniversary? That would be a depressing reality.

Hopefully we won't have to wait that long, but part of me wonders if Peter just lost interest. Now that he stopped for so long he probably has to review his notes and re-read the older issues to remind himself just where exactly he was going with the plotlines.

Well I'm sure his loss of interest has allot to do with the way people talk about him on here.
I know I've said some things here myself but I was giving constructive criticism more than anything.
I'd just really like to see the Mirage people stop lurking on message boards and be artists and writters again and stop letting kids get to them they're grown men.
The only thing sort of negative I've really have to say is more of an idea than anything but anyway I believe they really need to find some one else to Ink Jim Lawsons work Eriks dark outlines do not do his thin lined art work justice at all.

Just speaking from a fan's point of view here, and from someone who reads Previews each month... before the hiatus came about, TMNT was solicited a couple of months after the break was announced, so at least 2 issues were written/partly written/planned for release. Jim must also have done some of the work on those issues too, because the covers were there in the magazine. If I hadn't turfed them when the month ran out I could have scanned them for you guys :ohwell:

Still, I personally would love to have seen where the new Shredder arc and the battlenexus arc was leading, same with Mike's story. It seems a lot of great new things (which were really a return to the oldschool form in a way) were left in the air when Pete took the time off to work on the film. Casey was back to his old Vol.1 self, Leo was kicking but, the Triceratons were back in full force, April was Nobody, and with the mythology that's been generated and added to as Tales has progressed throughout the break, there's a wealth of stuff that could be embellished in Vol.4's continuation.

I've gotten tired of waiting. I originally remember when they said it would be april or may when the comic picked back up and it's way past that. I hope it picks up before the end of the year so I can see how everything is going to end.

I'd love to see vol 4 continue as well, it looked like things were going to get interesting. Its nice to have tales though having a monthly book is really nice and I think its cool that some of the artists, writers and director of the movie post here. Its nice to have people giving inside info etc that you normally wouldnt really hear and that they take the time to hear from the fans.

In regards to Putrescents post I doubt very much that any feedback that Pete had gotten had anything to do with the hiatus. Even in the letters column he always had some negative feedback and didn't care about it, it was more about telling the story he wanted and if someone doesnt like it well then to bad.

I didnt care for a lot of the stuff in vol 4 but it was still pretty entertaining mainly bi monthly was to slow inbetween issues that it was easy to loose interest imo.

While I can't speak for him exactly, I'm pretty much positive that the reason for the hiatus was due to the workload that accompanied overseeing the film, Tales, TMNT, 2k3 and the Lost Season troubles, the fast tracking of Fast Forward. Who knows, it may have even come down to personal matters at home or even his own health. I think it's pretty safe to say that, from his responses to the letters, the opinions of a few people are pretty far down the scale when you weigh it up against the other things I'm sure he deals with.
