They are interested in making it, but they have many factors to deal with if they do it. I told the guy in charge I would pay $25, a good price for a good DVD. I would love to even help with what to put IN the dvd..cos I would do it right. Commentary on & off, all of the deleted scenes, rough clips, every little thing I would want them to stick on it. All publicity images included. Any and all BTS material as well. And then a cleaned up, remastered movie as the showcase of the dvd.

And don't forget the 2 videoclips from Hi Tek 3 and Partners in Kryme

The 2-disc Special Edition should contain the following:

Disc 1:
- Remasters widescreen version of the movie.
- A commentary track with Steve Barron, Kevin Clash and Michelan Sisti
- Trailers and TV-spots

Disc 2:
- Behind the scenes documentary
- Creating Splinter: Puppet documentary
- Behind the masks: From comic to screen

Forget deleted scenes as special features, they should put them back in the movie. Maybe add some extra CGI shots of fighting and stunts? :P

This I would pay $25 of my hard earned dough. They really can't put deleted stuff back in, alot of it was rough and the voice over work incomplete. I woud like to see rough clips of the casey/raph fight...and the extended version as Raph seems to catch up with Case and kick his butt. They should have kept that in!

I think documentaries are a bit much to ask for (for starters, to be able to make one you have to have material with which to make it and somehow I doubt they do).

All I really need is remastered print/audio, deleted scenes, commentary, and those two music videos (so I can throw away yet another VHS - woot!). Trailers and TV spots are good, too. Not that I'd complain if there was anything more!

There was only the one trailer. I don't remember specifically what there was on TV, but whatever there was you're right that there were very few.

On my region 2 dvd I have the original theatrical trailer, the UK promotional trailer and promotional tv spots (can't remember how many they were).

Except that the UK trailer and TV spots are only for the movie's 2004 theatrical rerelease. I have the same DVD. 8)

And, in addition to all the stuff you guys have mentioned, I'd suggest including a lot of the print articles and magazines that came out around the time of the movie -- sort of like how the Freddy vs. Jason DVD included scans of several Fangoria articles concerning the flick. That'd rock!

As far as I know there was nothing for the first movie. There definitely weren't TV specials. Remember that this thing got made on $12 million and it was an independent film that everyone expected to bomb. I don't think they were thinking documentary at the time. There IS the 30-minutes Behind the Shells tape for the SECOND movie, which I would love to see make its way onto DVD (again, so I can throw another VHS away 8) ).

And, in addition to all the stuff you guys have mentioned, I'd suggest including a lot of the print articles and magazines that came out around the time of the movie -- sort of like how the Freddy vs. Jason DVD included scans of several Fangoria articles concerning the flick. That'd rock!

Add another Featurette to that and it would be perfect

unlike the comic featurette, this talks about the changes they had to make to the huge Popular Pop Culture cartoon series that made TMNT famous into a film that the same fanbase would still enjoy. What changes they would changes they had to abide by.

The overall best magazine to round up is probably the June 1991 issue of Cinefantastique. It's incredibly in-depth on all of the costumes and animatronics. So much so that apparently the costume team from TMNT 3 used it as reference to make those costumes.. :blanksta:

Yes... as I mentioned on the last page, that is for the second movie, not the first.

Not really. It starts with a few clips from the first movie, but it's really all about the second movie (after a neato interview with Kevin and Peter).

I think I'm just gonna end up getting whats already released, I give up. I don't see them doing new releases with anything more other than maybe a new cover. Especially since they already have a little extra features on there….

Warners completely completely dropped the ball on this one. They would have made a fortune rereleasing it before the movie (like they did with the Transformers movie before the liveaction one), butt they decided not to. That's why we got Van Wilder rereleased before their snotty sequal with 2 seconds of extra footage and a 10 cents of price of admission voucher for seeing the movie.

I mean, I doubt that a movie made in 1990 would have any thing left over for them to make on a DVD (New films are already considered for DVD special features before the film is even finished. That's why you can have a three hour featurette on ever single line fluff and prop falling off the wall and call it a "Blooper Reel"). I would at LEAST expect the Making of featurettes... maybe some toy commercials if Playmates were to dig some up.

I don't see special other features like that. Maybe get someone who used to work for Henson come in and explain how the suits worked.

All and all I want to get TMNT 2 and 3 on DVD (I have one) and I want to know should I bite my lip and pay the 10 bucks for NO features, or can I wait to see all three movies in a proper rerelease with new stuff.

Just because there were no tv specials and there was a low budget doesn't mean there was no behind the scenes photos or video taken on the set. What about concept drawings? I'm sure they had concept drawings and creature tests. What about bad takes? Outtakes? I'm sure they can find at least some of the people who made this to do interviews.

You know, in this reguard, I'm inclined to think there are a few hidden gems simply because the Effects were done by the Jim henson creature shop.

The creature shop was, and is, notorious for documenting there work. I repember seeing TV peices at the time. (although I was pretty young) And typically new footage is popping up from other projects they were involved in all the time.

Not to mention, with the exception of certain key members, it wouldn't be hard to get interviews from people who worked on the tech.

I think it's a crock that someone once posted information hinting towards these being released (I don't want to bother looking it up) and they didn't even bother. They could have made a fortune from SE DVD's, but just didn't want to root through old footage (if stuff exists) for a movie that's not about teenagers getting drunk and trying to get sex.

That's a pretty good idea. But, I thing they need to include the music videos as well. What videos? Vanilla Ice's "I'm not even trying, and it shows" video for "Ninja Rap", and Ya Kid K's "where the **** did this come from?" video for "Awesome (You Are My Hero)". That second one does exist as the artist couldn't have registered it at the U.S. Copyright Office otherwise. Plus, I seem to remember someone telling me she had seen it. I can't remember who that might have been though. :D[/SIZE]

April and the TMNT save the Los Angeles Metro from a dastardly villain named Gridlock. The TMNT are in their public appearance costumes (like the ones that were seen at malls) - so this tape was made on a shoestring budget and was probably done as a charity/public relations thing... unfortunately we don't have any details about it.

Information supplied by Kyle Holland.

Bezem wrote to say that the original voice cast from the TMNT cartoon reprised their roles for this tape - but this has been disputed by other fans.

The best that we can do is to write them and let them know what we would want as far as a new re-mastered picture and extras are concerned. Paper letters are better than email. I would LOVE a Josh Pais commentary and deleted scenes!

that's not for an American release, I'm guessing it's German? But the cover does look cool though. I am just gonna wait until there is the official word with a website that talks about it, showing the difference of the picture quality, etc.

That's a nice cover. I'm assuming that it might be from the same 2004 UK re-master by Medusa only in German.

I think that if New Line goes all out and re-issues the film in a new special edition for DVD and BLU-RAY/HD-DVD, they will do a complete new re-master. To have this film in high-def 1080p would be AWESOME!

The more letters we fans write, the better chance we will have. I was delighted that I got a reply.

It's a Dutch release. The 2004 remastered movie was never released here so they released it a few weeks before the new movie.

I can see how you guys must have thought it looked cool from the small pic but up close it looks like the worst fan-made photoshop cover art ever. :P
