I bought "Tales of Symphonia" a couple of weeks ago and I'm already selling it again. It wasn't as bad as I first thought but I don't feel like playing it again. I also bought "Soul Calibur II" and pre-ordered "God of War".

No, I have what I need. I never was that much of a gamer. Sure, I enjoy playing games from time to time, but it's not something I do every day. I play a quick round of UT probably once every two weeks or something.

I prefer reading books.

I got quite lucky on that actually. A friend and I bought the 3 Slot MVS for $400 from a local arcade cabinet distributor. It had some button issues and the wiring was a little weird but we replaced both through some people in the online Neo Geo community and now we don't have to pay such high prices for some of the classic SNK/Neo Geo games (such as Metal Slug 1)

Did they change any of the lyrics to Sloprano (Poo Song)? Honestly, that is one of gaming's greatest moments in history.

What changes did they make?

Peanut
06-23-2005, 08:14 PM
As far as I can tell, they haven't changed anything from the Great Mighty Poo song. This version is a lot heavier censored than the 64 version (go figure). They also made some changes to various parts of the game (At one point Conker even goes as far as to say "I thought this was a straight port! Hey programmers...how about no more surprises?", some parts are harder, some are easier (Thank God in some cases).

I guarntee it'll have Streets of Rage 1, 2, & 3 on it dude. That's what sent it from "should buy" status to "preorder" status. Gotta have my Streets of Rage man. That also hints that Sega may be testing the market for that sequel we never got this gen. Hell, they're bringing back Vectorman. If that of all things can come back (badass btw), then you never know....

Has anyone played the multiplayer yet? Is it as boring as IGN said?

It's not even f*cking close to boring. My guess, the assholes who reviewed it played one or two games then gave up on it.

I thought it was pretty cool when I first started playing it, but I found it kind of cumbersome and confusing, not to mention hard to control, but after a couple hours of play I can see it's really damn amazing. It has surpassed my expectations ten-fold. It seems so simple on the outside, but it's as deep as hell. I love the upgrades you can get, and the army type advancement you can achieve over XBL, becoming a sergent or a general and what not. Really awesome.

The different mission-type objectives on the various maps are awesome too. Like the SHC having to storm the Tediz beach stronghold (ala the "It's War" chapter), while the Tediz defend their leader, or taking over towers and hook up electrical currents inside of them; in order to either destroy (SHC) or use (Tediz) a war machine. I'll actually write up my own review of the game a bit later.

I just got Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil Code Veronica X. The guy at the store was trying to sell me RE 2, 3 and CVX all for 40 bucks each -_- He told me they ran smoother and all this other BS. I read a bunch of reviews online. 07-22-2005, 12:03 AM

Barkworm
07-22-2005, 01:31 AM
It has three different difficulty settings and once you've played through it, you unlock another one (god mode) which is supposed to be extraordinarily hard. It's definitely not too easy, I'm playing on "normal" and the difficulty is very enjoyable.

Isn't Good Charlotte in DK 2? Lame....

Anyways I got Resident Evil 3: Nemesis for GC. Umm because I couldn't find it for PS1 in the store and online the cheapest site had it for 16.99 and shipping was 7 bucks and I found it on Amazon for 30 with shipping, and brand new, so I got it! Yes, they are, but that isn't "lame" at all. In fact their two songs, while not exactly my favourite songs ever made, are two of the best on there. Just because it's Good Charlotte doesn't make it bad to play in the game. The same can be said for Hilary Duff's 'Come Clean'. Just because she's "lame" doesn't mean the song isn't a blast to play in the game.

Music games are about the beats I know but I'm kinda eh on music. Love or hate with me >< I never got into music games anyways so yeah...if it makes the game more fun why not put it in there? I just wish they would stop taking out the music in the Japanese version and leave them the same

ThirdMarioBro

Legend of Mana was a tad more like Zelda: Link to the Past in that respect, because it didn't make a transition between the overworld and battles like RPG's tend to. But yeah, I get your point.

Let me know how it is, it looks good. It's even better than I thought it would be. :D The co-op mode is excellent and reminds me of the two player modes in great sidescrolling beat-em-up games from the 16-bit era such as Streets of Rage. It also has classic MK characters, settings, moves, and sound effects that long time fans of the series like myself can appreciate. Plus, with all the unlockables and other secrets, there is tons of replay value.

I suppose I should also post this in the thread for MK Shaolin Monks, but that would be a little repetitive. :P

I knew it would be released in the US eventually, but the US version will have Panel de Pon rebranded as Pokemon Puzzle League. Personally, I'm not a fan of Pokemon, so I imported it (which also helps me brush up on my Japanese :) ) instead of waiting for the US release.

Well, they didn't really rebrand it as Pokemon Puzzle League per say, as much as they rebranded it as...nothing. They stripped all the branding from the game and just named it Puzzle League. It feels kind of soulless and empty. I mean, the Japanese version was kinda a budget release with no real character related stuff outside of the name, because the whole purpose of this game was to see if it would sell enough to justify the production cost for Intelligent Systems to develop a full fledged wholehearted Wi-Fi Online DS game.

Still though, is it that they are so hell bent on keeping anyone in the US from knowing that the game spawned with faries? I wouldn't put it past them though to toss a couple of hidden Pokemon backgrounds in there though for the hell of it. Damn NoA. *sigh* Anyways, I don't support rebranding either so I imported the sucker. Such a wonderful little cartridge. :)

I'm going to say no to this.

I had to dig through my closet, but I found it!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v611/MooniniteZero/kisskisskiss.jpg

That's the one that I stupidly spent $40 back in the day when it first came out. As opposed to the second one, which is fully rendered with 3D models and such, this one (the first one), was just, if I'm not mistaken, FMV based and published in the US by Sega. It had the Space Michael in it, I think on the last stage, where you fight the giant wierd guy and the entire song is just a bunch of people singing with no synth or any other instruments. It also had the Space Diva, which was annoying.

Anyway, a few years back, if I'm not mistaken (again) AGTEC or someone published a special edition of Space Channel 5, which included the Dreamcast (First) version (again, with Space Michael), and Space Channel 5 Part 2, which was never released in the US until then. If I do recall, Space Michael isn't in that.

But look at me. I'm arguing over Michael Jackson. This is a new all-time low.

And I think there was a GBA version somewhere in there, too.

GK Punk
11-23-2005, 05:53 PM
Yeah Michael was in the first SC5. I have him unlocked on My Dreamcast.

Oh, you're right. With a name like Puzzle League, I assumed that they would add in some Pokemon characters and backgrounds, but from the screenshots I've seen, it looks like they left it alone. I wonder why they didn't just call it Tetris Attack, then... But anyway, I'm still happy with the version I bought since I got it early and since I could use the extra practice reading the Japanese menus. :)

I still need alot of practice on my kanji, though, so I can only get a general idea of what's going on in games that use alot of it. But luckily, DM/PdP uses only hiragana and katakana in its menus, and most games that aren't heavily story-based don't use too much kanji.

Yeah, I thought that too. I assumed though that Nintendo could no longer use the Tetris name because of licensing junk and such, then the name Dr. Mario/ Tetris Attack showed up on the European release list.

Now I just don't know what they're thinking. *shrugs* Either way, I'm happy with my cartridge too :)

Oh, on the contrary TMB, they know exactaly what they're doing.

Having no consoles in stores, with a few sold in each area, creates a demand for it. If it's always sold out, it must be selling amazingly well right? If they seem to be going from the truck to customers hands, it's gotta be popular, right?

We know diffrent, but to your average consumer it makes it seem like the 360 is the best selling thing since Super Mario Bros. 3.

Sony did the same thing with the Playstation2, infact. It's just that they didn't have the games the 360 does (2 RARE titles at one time is olmost blasphemy).

ThirdMarioBro
12-05-2005, 02:02 PM
Yeah, I know they're just trying to do the supply/demand thing, but if they had any intelligence at all, they'd be trying to create as big of an install base as possibe like DS did to PSP by launching early so as the screw Sony and Nintendo, but nah. They're too dumb to do that. Idiots who don't get one on Christmas may just wait for one of the other two anyways.

Well, I felt like I was running around in circles waiting for something to happen. The Spiderman games have that problem too, but to a lesser extent. Wandering around shooting people to kill time until I figure out what I'm doing isn't my idea of fun. If Ultimate Spiderman and Spiderman 2 didn't have that "hint" system that basically points me where to go, I'd probobly not be able to play it. I don't take hints well. Hell, Zelda games are a nightmare for me at times because I have puzzle solving problems with the dungeons. Things don't leap out at me well. Maybe I'm just dense, or just stupid, but whatever. Outside of that, Miyamoto games for example give you a sense of open-ended freedom while they are really leading you exactly where he wants you to go. That's the difference between his games and other peoples.

Take Ocarina versus Star Fox Adventures for example. Basically they are the same type of game (open ended exploration/adventure), except with Ocarina, you always feel like you are on your way to get something done. Yeah, there's lots of wandering, but there are subtile clues to tell you where to go next and you feel like you're always getting something done, because you are. Star Fox on the other hand had moments where I just sat in the middle of nowhere poking walls for invisible switches because I had no idea what the hell I needed to do to continue. Rare didn't leave that little bread trail across the game to help me. Hell, Rare can only make a clue when they make a character head or voice follow you around and lead you by the nose through the whole game, thus ruining the suprises and killing the freedom aspect. They didn't strike a balance, and I wound up lost because I need little hints to help me along, but not so much that it ruins the sense of adventure and feels like I'm reading a FAQ or something to finish.

GTA to me didn't seem to have that extra "breadtrail". I wandered around waiting for something to happen, but it didn't. That, and the style of the game annoys the hell out of me, but that's just personal opinion. Anyway, those are my reasons.

Picked up The Adventures of Link (GBA) and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. I traded in FFTA a while back and I so regretted it, so I got it back for 10 bucks. Not bad.

But...you just go to the markers on the screen to make stuff happen...you know...missions. Other than that, I can see where you're coming from. The style is kind of annoying to me too, but I enjoyed 3 and Vice City. SA was too...urban for me.

'Bout the only thing I enjoyed was Vice City's soundtrack (I think it was that one). 80's Music is teh shinzit.

Nope. I just have lots of money and I enjoy playing games. To be honest, San Andreas is quite an experience. It does promote violence and it is sexist/rascist as hell...plus the language is BRUTAL...but it's still extremely fun. There's just so much to do in the game. More than any other game I've ever played.

Not really a game, but I bought a component cable for my PS2 so I could play SotC in HD. (Yes, it's that good!) When I got home I realized it doesn't have any audio jacks, so basically I have amazing video quality and no sound to speak of, because the cables don't have audio hookups I have to go buy an optical cable. This wouldn't be that big of a problem, except that I can't find ANY F*CKING OPTICAL CABLES ANYWHERE! :x

I got Killzone because it's a cheap Greatest Hits game and that kind of money is like dirt to me. I wanted to play it, quite simply. Sly 3 was one of many games overstocked in EB that they were selling for a 1/4th the price, so I couldn't pass that up. Jak 3 was a weirdly priced title, cheaper than greatest hits, but not as cheap as Sly 3, so I got that too.

I find it kind of funny that I've bought more PS2 games in the last 4 days than I have in the last 4 years.

TMNT 3: Mutant Nightmare for Xbox. I've already run through the arcade Turtles in Time a couple times! :D

Edit: I've been playing some Killzone tonight...I just need to say that I'm quite surprised at how good it actually is. How this game got such a bad rap...I don't know. I mean, the hit detection is a little weird and the game does run pretty sluggish, but past that it's actually a ton of fun. The Helgast have really annoying voices though.

I really like it. A lot of people trash on it because it offers nothing new, but having the Street Fighter, Darkstalkers, and Red Earth characters battle it out using the mechanisms from their respected series offers a whole new experience IMO

I typed a mini review of it on another forum. I'll copy and paste it.
----
Well, I bought Capcom Fighting Jam the day before yesterday, and I must say that I really like it. I guess it was good to go on my gutt feeling and it worked out well for me. I guess my expectations my have been so low from the reviews and what people have posted on this topic that I was pleasantly surprised.

It really surprised me how well they were able to keep the fighters so close to their respected series's and still have them able to clash with others from another series and make it work. You'd think a game like this would be really unbalanced but surprisingly it was quite balanced.

I also liked the character selection even though a little more than half the cast were made up of street fighters. At first I was a little turned off by that, but when I played the game I kinda see why they did it, It was a way to show the diversity between the different SF instalments. Despite the fact that there were so many Street Fighter's I thought the cast was quite diverse and it helped that a good many of the Street Fighters were some of my favorites from their series. The Red Earth Characters were interesting to. Leo reminds me of a mixture of He-man and Lion-o *ha ha* I thought that was pretty cool, I thought Kenji was cool as was Hydron, I didn't care for Hauzer though. The Darkstalkers are awsome as well, though I still can't use Anakaris for the life of me.

I also like the music, while its not the best music in a fighter, I still liked it. Some of the themes aren't really memorable but its still good stuff.

Well I guess I just have to say that I liked it and I'm glad I didn't listen to the folks that told me not to buy it. :P
well thats it for my mini review.
-------

I hope this helps. I think there's an acquired taste for this kinda game, I like it but so many people hate it. If you're a Capcom fighter collector, I'd say sure go a head get it. but if you're feeling a bit skeptical maybe you should read up on it or rent it first.

^played it... and hated it. I'm as big a Capcom fighting fan as anyone else, but this game was disappointing. I assumed it'd have almost every character to choose from, which hyped me up huge... but it's only like 4 per game and that took away a lot from the great things this game could have been. If anything, they could have at least made the character sprites look homogenous, as if they came from the same game.

It's awesome. Fully voiced dialouge, cut-scenes, amazing update to the graphics. It's great, man. I recommend it.

Edit: Ok. This game is amazingly sick. The only complaint I have so far are the remixed songs. They sound good, in fact some sound better, but a couple are a little crappy. If anyone is an X fan, this is a must-buy.

Edit 2: You know those damn submarines in Launch Octopus' stage? Well they made them even more annoying. They put a shot deflecting guard on the front of them. It only goes down when it's trying to suck you in. As if the 2nd one by the two spike pits wasn't annoying enough! YAAARRRGGG!

So far I've beaten Flame Mamoth, Chill Penguin, Spark Mandril and Armored Armadillo. I've found two X upgrades, but they were in completely different places. Coolness. The sub-tanks and heart tanks are in the same places though.

Edit 3: Beat the game. You unlock a 25 minute X movie that takes place before the game!!!!
Also you get to play the game again as Vile! He's crazy. 3 different types of moves
