Hey, I'm collecting mirage comics, vol 1, 2 and 4 + image vol. 3 + some other various tmnt comics. I was just wondering if anybody can recommend buying any of the mirage specials, such as the tmnt team-ups with savage dragon, flaming carrot and turtle soup. I've only seen the covers, never read any. So if anyone have an opinion about these, good/bad please let me know in this thread. Are they worth owning for a tmnt comic collecter ? :D
Thx in advance

I have all 5 Turtle Soup comics. They are worth it. Especially the 4th one of the second volume featuring "Fifteen Years Later".

The anthology books are quite good, particularly Turtle Soup (though I preferred the original One Shot the most). Plastron Cafe also has some good stuff, but it's primarily non-Turtle related stories.

If you're collecting the Image series than the 4 Savage Dragon crossovers that preceded Issue #1 are a must. Don't forget the two issues not listed on the site, Savage Dragon #2 and Savage Dragon #22, as they completed the stories in the 1993 and 1995 specials.

The Mirage specials like Times Pipeline, the Haunted Pizza and the Maltese Turtle are non-canon goofy stories that are completely skippable. I wouldn't go after them unless you are trying to be a completionist.

As for Flaming Carrot, I haven't read the Lawson-penciled miniseries, but I have picked up the three issue crossover from the Carrot's own book (Flaming Carrot #25-27). They're good in a goofy sort of way. Flaming Carrot is a lot like the Tick, so don't expect anything even remotely serious.

I'd highly recommend the Usagi Yojimbo crossovers. The first three short stories can be found in Turtle Soup #1 One Shot ("Turtle Soup and Rabbit Stew"), Fantagraphics Usagi Yojimbo Vol. 1 #10 ("The Crossing"), Mirage Sheel Shock graphic novel ("The Treaty") and the big crossover in Mirage Usagi Yojimbo Vol. 2 #1-3 ("Shades of Green").

What really happened and what didn't.

Like when a movie has different endings one if cannon because it is the one they will continue off of in the sequel.

You might wanna give This Thread (http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=19697) a peek. It compiles all the various issues that could conceivably be canon in the Mirage timeline.

You should collect them, too. They're awesome!

Sorry, I don't think I'm doing your wallet any favors.

Like you, I was not interested very much in Archie at first. But the Turtle geek in me decided to give them a try, since many people here raved about them. I have read 20 issues and am very satisfied so far. I would like more, but I do not see the later issues on Ebay often.

Make sure you pick up the Green-Grey Sponge-Suit Sushi Turtles comic.

Haha That's quite alright... I've just gotten myself a full time job, and I don't have any expenses, So I need something to use my money on hehe... I watched the OT as a kid ofc. But now it just doesn't appeal to me anymore, at least not in the same way as it did back then :ohwell:

The Archie Comics are way better than the OT.

ok, maybe I'll buy an issue together with the others to see if I like it or not... Any particular issue anybody would recommend, which is the most likely to sweep the feet away from underneath me ? :D

I personally recommend Shell Shock, it's a mix of new materials with some reprinted stories. The book is a realy joy to read, 220 pages of TMNT goodness! One short story,49th Street Stompers, was pretty badass to me; wished they had brought that "villian" into the mainstream Mirage universe after Shredder's death. He had that sort of "David Xanatos from Gargoyles" air about him.

Oh yeah, all five Turtle Soups totally rock especially if you like some wicked Farley art, Challenges is s quick fun read and Gobbledygook is awesome too!
