I don't want to sound like an idiot or anything, but when Splinter told April their story. I wondered at the part when he said "for obvious reasons" was suppose to represent.

Yeah, as soon as he mutates into a rat, and as he is breaking the boards, his exact quote is: "My wards (the turtles) nicknamed me Splinter, for obvious reasons". the viewers are the ones that are supposed the see the obvious reasons of him chopping the boards.

This is a subtle yet effective breach of the 4th wall. Then again...

Maybe Splinter had compiled a video archive of their origin story and played the tape for April as he narrated?:lol:

Donatello breaches the 4th role i think in the same episode when he says to april: No, no, april. it's too dangerous. you wouldn't last 5 minutes in a pizzaria.

then he turns to face the viewers and says: i've always wanted to say lines like that.

"You wouldnt last five minutes in a NINJA PIZZA PARLOR" is still one of the most badass lines of dialouge ever written.

I agree but i must point out also what the turtles order

1 shashimi pizza that Raph orders and 3 whipped cream pizzas...in good health according to the waiter.

Pizza is a type of pie...just with meat and cheese and toppings...pie on the other hand is just crust and whipped cream...in good health
