View Full Version : Have you ever thought April O'neil was hot?

Dont know if its ever been brought up,my guess is...yes.

I know she's a cartoon character...but I have heard that people have found her attractive.

IMO the best version of April was in the original toon....plus you can't deny that she was drawn with a rather....umm...large chest :D

Every single one of her incarnations is SIZZLING.

And I agree that the sexiest and hottest one of all is OT April. Not just because of her large chest and cleavage shown. It's the LIPS. There's something in her lips that makes her extremely alluring and sexy.

Cleavage shown? Rarely...

My girlfriend and I always thought it was funny show April had a big chest and her jumpsuit was zipped down pretty low but she hardly ever had cleavage... like it was some kind of uniboob.

Usually we call "Take 6 shots" when they actually draw the cleavage in!

TMNT came around when I first hit 'that age'... so yeah... Miss O'Neil made me think 'thoughts'.... Even today after all these more realistic drawn videogames and fanservice anime, April, to me, is still the number 1 hottest drawn babe in history.

Compare/Contrast: which april was better? the old cartoon series or the new series?

The OT series April started out well, more than just her news hungry persona with some genuine signs of a life outside of it. Then she just became about the story and seemed to care simply about that until the last few seasons. I kind of liked how she had developed a near-icy bitterness about her experiances with the Turtles and was trying to distance herself at the start of the tenth season before relenting. Potential that was sqaunderd and one of the only cons anyone can have about a show near-impossible to compare to the new due to their differences.

The new series April has more depth of course. She has a flexable, and more durable personality, she has arcs, family problems, obvious scientific abd technical background, and she treated the Turtles not like leads to a story or freinds, but as brothers, soul mates (Donatello), and family.

I agree that the NT April is more complex and multidimensional. And she is not always following the Turtles around- she actually has a life of her own. On the other hand, I like how the OT April was a workaholic, since I'm one myself- although I have many things going on in my life other than my career.

I'm torn here. The current series version of april is my dream girl but the ot version was my first cartoon crush... with ariel in a close second:lol:

hehehe yep, that infamous April pic that ALWAYS pops up whenever people start saying the 80's April is hotter than the 2k3 April. As hot as she looks in that pic, I'm not denying I wouldn't wanna hit that, but 80's April will always be the numero uno for me. She got the best ass that ever got drawn, I gaurontee!!

I hate OT April. She wasn't interested in what was going on, as long as she got it on tape. Then she would have a "I'm a reporter" moment like once an episode, saying somthing obvious/random about her job. NT April can actually fight, and also cares about the TMNT.

I always liked Judith Hoag and Paige Turco way more than OT April (Renae Jacobs did provide a good voice for her, but I've never seen her)

That picture is awesome. April does look a bit on the skinny side- as if she had lost 10 pounds or so in a very short amount of time. But her face looks alluring.

Wow!,I was right...this sorta topic has come up before....and more than once too.

That pic posted of 2k3 April is pretty "Hot"...but I still like OT April alot better....its not just because of her big chest...but overall she was drawn alot more sexy.

As far as personality goes...maybe its just me,but Iv always kinda found 2k3 April kind of annoying, like she's too into herself...not stuck-up...just too dramatic and everything when she talks about her life and in episodes that were centered around her.

I like OT April alot better in both looks and personality.

The new toon April really gets my blood flowing... well, maybe not blood....

I really am ashamed to admit I like cartoon women. But then she is one of the only 2 I like, the other being Mai from Dragon Ball. Damn her millitaristic Asian sexiness.

when i was growing up, i wasn't really into girls/women, but i still liked boobs back then, even in pre-school, when i was in pre-school, the young teacher (in 20s) was talking to me and i was staring down her blouse the whole time.

But the new one (2003) i think is hotter

That pic of April is really cute, she's a little thin and too perfect but it's still a cute piccie.
I think it's a little silly. Guys will think April's hot but go 'eww yuk' when a lady fan thinks one of the turtles is hot.

I'd prefer april for obvious reasons but a crush on raph seems totally fine for me, aslong as it's not muckman or something. ;]

As for april, i think the 'red sky' april is the hottest, she still has the visual style of the ot but without that yellow fetish suit. Sadly nt april looks a bit generic to me.

Me likey bothey! They're April, and that's good enough for me. I guess I'd lean more toward 2k3 April since she's more "normal" and most like early Mirage April.

I think it's in our genetic programming to start developing our ideals of attractiveness at an early age, and what do most of us see when we're young: cartoons.

Hell, when I was younger I thought Gadget from Rescue Rangers was hot! That unassuming girl next door who's wicked smart and not afraid to get her hands dirty.

Ninjara and Future Raph's wife, too (what was her name, Kintaro?) And as the previous person said, Lola Bunny is drawn in a sexy manner; probably her seductive eyes. Then back to humans who didn't like Jessica Rabbit!

Basically if it has got nice curves, some boobs and a cute ass and was born a female then in the world of doodles that's enough to usually be hot to a guy.

And for girls who like the Turtles, let's face it: you have four young, muscular guys who trained their bodies their whole lives to perform at peak capacity! You also have the four basic personality types: the courageous hero, the badass rebel, the funloving artist, and the coolheaded intellectual. What's not to like?

Now back to our regularly scheduled topic!

Well you got my point. The thought about being attracted to "non" humans either there exist physically or in drawings, is to bizzare if you ask me.

Looking back they drew April to be very curvy back in the 80's. There is a drawing done for the arcade game that is the best example of this. I can't find it right now, but it looked as if her jumpsuit was flat out too small.

All right here it is. From the pinball machine. April looks like she needs the next size up in jumpsuits.

As far as hotness, I'm going to stick with the live action Aprils. Both were very pretty IMO. But then again, here is a pretty live action April based on the toon.

My favorite live action April was Paige Turco...and the recent TMNT movie, had it been live action...Sarah Michelle Gellar is hot!:D

You don't understand that we're animals or the point I poorly attempted to make that (altho fictional) the TMNT are humanoid sentient beings who are as we are, just green & shelled. I don't see the "yuck" factor like alot of guy fans do about girls liking the turtles, but they drool over a busty broad April from the old toon. We can't be mammals but not animals.

I tried to hold off from commenting on this issue, but I'll go ahead and throw my 2 cents in the pot.

I think a distinction needs to be made between humanity and the lower members of the animal kingdom. The basis of law and civil society is that human beings are uniquely endowed by their Creator with special rights to life and liberty. These special rights are particular to humans, thus distinguishing them from other mammals and animals. For example, we cannot put a dog on trial for killing a rabbit for food. Neither can we put a human on trial for killing a rabbit for food. We must, however, enforce the penalty of the law upon a human who murders another human.

No animal should be treated cruelly, of course (I hope Michael Vick realizes that), but humans are unique among beasts of the land, sea, and air in that we recognize humanity has been created in such a manner as to be valued above all other creatures.

Can't really argue that point, but it was never really in question. Humans may be unique, but so is every other animal. Just think of all the gifts that other animals have that humanity has to work together to immitate, such as flying. One person alone would have to work diligently and spend so much time on building a device with which to fly. Humanity is essentially the governing species of the world. So, of course it is to be valued over all other creatures. But, sadly, I don't see any other species wasting time and effort on such absurd things as war.

But humans are smart....relatively speaking anyway.

I really don't get the debate. We are very much unique from other animals. We've created works of art, impressive architecture, and other culturally significant accomplishments. But other animals are beautiful and amazing creatures too.

What was this about? Where we'd categorize the turtles? It's hard to tell. The y do seem more human like. They're faster than the average turtle that's for sure.

I never understood the "yuck" reaction people have when others say they find the turtles attractive. The "different species" excuse doesn't really make any sense to me. It only grosses them out because they themselves are human and can't relate. I mean Raph and Ninjara are different species and no one was upset with that. I bet all the anthro-foxes on the planet were pretty disgusted though.

Well, I figure this thread can become general discussion about April.

I was just watching Michaelangelo Meets Bugman and I couldn't believe April in that episode. She sprains her ankle, then ends up being surrounded by fire. She cries for help because she claims she can't move due to her ankle. Apparently her ankle left her completely immobilized. Now, I know sprained ankles hurt like heck, but if she saw a fire coming her way I'd think she'd try her best to move out of the way, whether she'd be hoping on one foot or crawling or something.

I bet at that point she was wishing that she had trained with the turtles to be able to make amazing leaps or something so she could get out of the way of that fire. :)

Anyway...... to answer the question, no. When I was watching TMNT as a kid, I was too young to be interested in girls, I was at the age that I believed girls had germs and all of that. I probably saw the April character in the same way as I'd see my Mum more than anything else so there was probably some sort of maternal attraction in that sense.

But when I was old enough to start having an interest in girls, I had an interest in REAL girls. But that is not to say that the character of April didn't sub-consciously have an effect on what kinds of girls I was interested in, not that I have a thing for girls who wear bright yellow overalls or anything. But who really knows. :ohwell:

No I don't find cartoon characters to be attractive. And the whole girls being attracted to turtles thing, attraction works in species only. You'd look at some guy weird if he boned a rhino right? Well I'd look at a girl weird if she had sex with a giant turtle humanoid or not, and if their humanoid their anatomically incorrect and with good reason.

My opinion between the Aprils -- OT definitely has more bewbs than NT april, who reminds me a lot of a nerd girl who stays indoors and never sees sunlight. I have never found any incarnation of April (or most drawn women) attractive. I keep my standards very high when it comes to imaginary women. That's probably the same reason why as a kid I avoided getting the April action figure for the longest time. I didn't think girls had germs or anything, but at four or five years old I guess I just wasn't a fan.:tconfuse:

But April? Never. Like the above poster, I did try and avoid the April O'Neil action figure like the plague -- not because I didn't like the character, I just wasn't a fan. April O'Neil is like a big sister to the TMNT and seeing things through the TMNT's eyes on the show so much, I guess I begin to see her similarly.

how did Disney get away with this kind of character design :o and what is it about voluptious red heads?

Secondly, no. I hated OT April; I thought she was ugly. In looks and personality.

I don't know, April in the old toon may not have been hot but she was at least attractive, even with that gaudy yellow jump suit of hers. I like how she is not one of those really pencil thin, shapless girls that I've been seeing lately in television and actually has a shape with some curves on her body. And even though OT April was self centered and had a one tract mind she was still spunky and interesting, and could even be sweet on occassion too.

how did Disney get away with this kind of character design

The movie "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" was not targeted towards children. That's how they got away with that scene I posted earlier. Here it is again.

yy5THitqPBw

It's just that gooood...

I never understood or appreciated this movie as a child -- the plot, the jokes all went over my head. It can only really be appreciated by teens or adults who know something about classic cartoons. Despite its 2-dimensional characters and plotline, it's got an energy that makes it a true gem in cinema history. :D

and what is it about voluptious red heads?

Age-old question. Blonde seems more boring. Red is exotic. It is, in fact the rarer hair color. It stands out more. We've got Ariel (mermaid), Jean Grey from X-Men, MJ from Spider-Man... and then what's-her-face in the bandage loin cloth from the 5th Element.

Also, I know prostitutes used to dye their hair red in ancient times.

Um... I'm not gonna answer the other part. ;)

Sage Ninja
11-05-2007, 10:01 PM
wow...it has been like forever since I've seen "who framed Roger Rabbit"? and I had forgotten how much of a "temptress" Jessica Rabbit was :o. But I really have to say that the 2D animation was really well done here and looked very realistic, and they blended the animation with the real people very well. Screw CGI, cell amition is the best in my opinion!

Red is exotic. It is, in fact the rarer hair color

I thought black hair, I mean "true" black, was the rarer hair color?

Fledermaus
11-05-2007, 10:15 PM
I did research on this subject, thanks to a project I had to do last year.

Actually, Red hair is even more recessive than blond hair. Black hair (like brown eyes) will always be dominant.

And "true" black (deep, ink black) is only as rare as "true" blond (i.e. wispy white down hair).

More random trivia: Jessica Rabbit, in the novel "Who Censored Roger Rabbit?" on which the movie was based, was originally a porn comic star. Good thing Zemeckis toned it down for the movie.

And I'm off topic but I don't care. There are threads on this subject every other month.

Sage Ninja

And "true" black (deep, ink black) is only as rare as "true" blond (i.e. wispy white down hair).

I always thought true black hair (deep inky, blue back hair) was only possiable in certain ethnic groups, like asians and Indians.

And in other ethnic back grounds what passes for "black" hair is actually just really dark brown hair, and not trully black hair at all.

Fledermaus
11-05-2007, 11:28 PM
Well, dunno about Indians but I've been around Asians my whole life. I've seen this "true black" hair of which you speak -- the kind where the only colored highlight is white, because the hair is so black -- but even this, so I've heard, is simply a very, very dark brown that LOOKS black. You see it now and then, and those asians tend to have really, really straight hair.

(BTW, no such thing as blue-black hair cept in comic books and anime and artificial dye kits probably.)

I know! The NT April's proportions (5'8" and 125lb) make her too skinny. My mother is 5'6" and 120 or so and she is VERY thin. I'm 5'5" and 130-135 and everyone thinks I am skinny (though slender is probably the better word). April at those proportions would probably be underweight. With the curves she has in the NT, she seems to weigh more than that. But OT April still seems sexier.

this is why I think April from the classic toon is so pretty and in my opinion better looking than all the other versions of her, she is a perfect blend of feminity and spunk. She just has such a classic look to her. And I like the more natural looking red color here. There is alot of detail in her face. To bad that sometimes the animators skipped detail in her design on occassion in later seasons. Why does she look sad/upset in this pic?

If that's the pic from the first ep wjere she's asking the Turtles why she should trust them (like I've been thinking), she's actually supposed to look indignant, but the animators just didn't pull it off all that perfectly.

Sage Ninja
11-13-2007, 07:56 PM
April was always very pretty especially when they bothered to add the extra detail to her face and hair. There have been other times where she looked like crap when they had the cheap animators doing her, like how she did in Muckman Messes Up episode. ugh, she just looked unproportioned in that episode.

However when the show turned over into Red Sky and they gave her a new outfit, some how I didn't think look as attractive as she did in the yellow jumpsuit :-? and they started drawing her face diffrently too as well I think, like they made her older looking or something. Especially in the 9th and 10th seasons when they updated her hair style. Did any one else notice this?

Spawn Guy
11-14-2007, 06:54 AM
Yeah. I preferred her a whole lot better like that. She actually looked like a reporter then. A John Bryne Lois Lane reporter, and that goes a long way for me. April, in any incarnation, has done absolutely nothing me, and it's for the exact same reason every time. Her hairstyle. If I had some sort of hierarchy going on, Old Toon April would be right at the bottom.

TheUltimateShredhead
11-14-2007, 08:05 AM
Why does she look sad/upset in this pic?

It's from the pilot episode when the turtles have introduced them self and there up on the surface, and at the surface they bug's her with a lot of questions related to humans behavior, and she gets annoyed and gives that expression.

Sage Ninja

Yeah. I preferred her a whole lot better like that. She actually looked like a reporter then. A John Bryne Lois Lane reporter, and that goes a long way for me.

I just saw a picture of April O'Neil on the cover of a Archies comic and she had on a diffrent outfit than her normal yellow jump suit reporters get-up. She had on what looked like a purple blazer blue jeans and a pink top. She didn't look to bad in it. If the animators where going to give her a new out fit I wish they had given her something like that than the mustard yellow pants and brown jacket combo they put her in in Red Sky. It just didn't flatter her figure. Actually I sometiems wished they had put April into some more feminine clothes. They always tried to dress her up kind of tom boyish in the old toon. However I like how in red sky they changed her eye color from black to bluish green.

April, in any incarnation, has done absolutely nothing me, and it's for the exact same reason every time. Her hairstyle. If I had some sort of hierarchy going on, Old Toon April would be right at the bottom.

yeah...April has never had the most flattering hair styles. In the old toon it was ok for the times but its very dated now and in the new toon the prudish bun is that great (especially when NT April looks very nice with her hair down). I've always wondered what OT April would look like if she had longer hair instead of that 80's bob she had going on for ever. Like maybe shoulder length or something, I think Ot April would have looked pretty with longer hair.

When you're a boy, you have those funny feelings about certain animated and comic female characters, and sometimes, you just don't for whatever reason. And then, when you're a man, you wonder, "how come I didn't feel those funny feelings, sooner?" Which sums up my current stance of 87 April, depending on the time of day or when you ask me.

That is not to say the 2003 version isn't unattractive. I dunno, cleavage vs. midriff -- guess who wins?

As for the yellow jumpsuit/white boot set-up, eh, it was more functional in the field. Imagine if April in any version wore a skirt? I can't.

New Jersey: Now no longer on the East Coast.

Did people finally wise up and pull a Lex Luthor from the 1st Superman movie and detonate fault lines to send it into the sea?

Yes, she does. :) (I also tried to draw her with freckles http://lola22.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d4j5q6x :embarass:). I think that is the best fanart of April ever! 8) And I also think she`s hot!

The girl would not be able to walk after I'd be done with her.... And Irma's next.

I'm not sure which part of this statement makes me laugh more. :P

But to answer the OP's question, no, not really. I've always found it rather odd when people say that they find a drawing to be attractive. To each their own, I suppose.

I never cared for April with freckles. In the life-like picture at the top, I think it makes her her skin look blotchy. Plus I think it is kind of stereotype that people with red hair have to sport freckles. I know it doesn't happen often, but I notice this seems to happen more often in red heads in cartoons than any other hair color.

April is not a ginger though. :P According to Cartman from South Park, she is more of what you'd call a "day walker"

Lol, I just watched that ep of Southpark! I don't think she's considered a ginger anyway. I don't recall seeing any freckles on her, least not in the toons.

Every single one of her incarnations is SIZZLING.

And I agree that the sexiest and hottest one of all is OT April. Not just because of her large chest and cleavage shown. It's the LIPS. There's something in her lips that makes her extremely alluring and sexy.
The man knows his stuff! Lips not dismissed but when I first saw her, I was struck hard! My first cartoon crush man
