View Full Version : What changes do you see possibly happening with the 2008 revamp?

Obviously, the boys will come back to the present. But are we going to see a lot of the aspects from the 2k3 series coming back? The same voice actors even? Honestly, I can see that happening since a lot of the same voice actors stayed with the various incarnations of the Batman animated series in the 90s and early 2000s. And of course, will the new series be canonical to the 2k3 series?

I HOPE SO regarding ALL your questions.
It would be a bad idea to not continue in regular time and the 2k3 style with the same voice actors. It would be very anticlimactic for the plot to end with Fast Forward.

For the love of Chri...YES. Thats been said about a billion times already

Well, one thing that'll definitely change is the theme song, but that goes without saying. Hopefully they can make it catchy.

It's the SAME show. Same writers, same voice actors, same continuity.
Its set to take place after the last Fast Forward episode, so all previous seasons will be part of the same continuity.

I don't care if they change the theme song. Hey, they could even put the OT theme song. As long as it is canon to 2k3, which has been established, I'll be happy. And I hope they keep the same tone- that they do not make it too comical (it would be unlikely they would make it as gritty as Mirage).
I just want more TMNT. I finished watching it today for the SECOND time.

Hopefully the animation will change back to it's normally darker tone. It's not like I totally hated FF's animation, but I felt it was a little too "Bright and Pointy' for my tastes. Though I'm sure I've already mentioned this before. :P

Yeah, the brightness may have worked for FF. But for 2k3, bring back the deeper colors.
I did not like FF's pointiness and angularity period. These are living beings we are talking about. OK, so the Matamata turtle is quite spiny...but the Ninja Turtles were Red-eared Sliders, which are quite rounded.

What I was thinking that the first proposal to Laird was something completely crappy. Then the second proposal was either something really, really good or maybe even back to the original 2k3 standards. Because Laird seemed to have approved something. Perhaps 4kids is going back to 2k3. At least I hope so.

Having more Tales (volumes 1 and 2) stories would ROCK.
But it does not even have to be directly based on Mirage. After all, Season 5 is not directly taken from the comic book- and I think it is my top or second favorite season, since the plot was so GOOD. I think only one episode in it was mediocre- and it was still not a bad or painful to watch episode.
Only four months left of this year. Only four more months till we get to see Ninja Tribunal on TV.

I'm not a huge fan of adapting Tales Vol. 2.
Some of them are really good while a lot of them are complete rubbish.
I haven't finished watching the 'lost season' yet, but I'm hoping it doesn't shake things up too much, since it will be considered canon.

I would really not expect any voice actor changes if 4Kids is involved (they never hire any outside actors).
Here's what I WANT to see with the new series:
Build in a script for them to return to normal, or some sort of ending so that if they need to cut it off early they have an ending.
For it not to be product driven. While I can respect FF was driven by the fact they need to sell toys, I just want toys. no cards, no other collectible wacky overpriced games that won't sell
They use plenty of comic related stories, especially from other artists and writers that contributed.
They can work in the movie some way, but not so much that it overshadows the possibility for a sequal.
It's not toned down to fit the needs of anal-retentive network execs... like FF was.
The Turtles cannot have outside help from any new character who hasn't been created by Peter, Kevin, or anyone that worked in the comics. Cody and the rest burned up my faith in new characters.

Personally, I'd like to keep the movie and cartoon universes separate and independent of each other. Of course, in fanfictions and the sort you can throw in elements of all.
Otherwise, I agree with your suggestions. And I hope they return to the old art style. The FF one had its time and place.

I'd actually would love it if they incorporated the Jersey Devil in the 2008 toon. Kind of like a pet for Raph, like this love/hate sort of thing. His answer to Mikey's Klunk (that's the cat's name, right?)
And I agree 100% about changing back to the old 2k3 animation style. I don't know why, but the FF animation makes them look akward to me. Almost dumbish in design.:ohwell: And I want the old weapons back, none of this futuristic laser crap. Good old fashion steel and wood!:)

It has a lot to do with not knowing if it wants to be MIRAGE or ARCHIE.

It does, and things SHOULD be shaken up in canon.

I don't mind if they introduce the Jersey Devil. It would not really change the plot majorly. They can pull a "Tokka and Rahzar" like they did in the OT.
But altering the chronology like in the movie- I think not. They already know Karai quite well.

Well, sure things should change but this whole super-powered Turtles approach doesn't sit right with me.

Hmmm.... you do have a point, but it would be cool to incorporate some of what happened in the movie into a script, but in a way the movie is still seperated from the cartoon.
Exactly like that Tokka/ Rahzar thing.... I just don't know how.

Not sure if this is the first time ever, but I agree with you.

After Ghostbusters 2 came out, which completely ignored the cartoon (as was to be expected), Louis Tully, the geeky accountant that was Dana's neighbor in the first movie and the team's attorney in the sequel, conveniently and randomly started to appear in the cartoon without any reason for him to be there (as he was a dreadfully boring addition to the cast) in this entirely separate and forsaken continuity spun-off from the FIRST movie. This fact disturbed me so much that I stopped watching... and that hurt me.
When I saw Tokka and Rahzar show up in the classic TMNT cartoon, it dredged up all those feelings again, and that situation was the first thing to come to mind. Thank goodness they were hardly even a footnote in the series or that would have made me abandon a huge investment of faith and loyalty again.
So, I beg of you... don't make me have to relive this again. I still have nightmares of Louis Tully in The Real Ghostbusters. :'(

Exactly my thoughts. It was a gimmick they didn't need. In my opinion, it made the closing chapter of the 2K3 stylization a tad less special. Not 'bad'. Just 'less special' than it should have been.

If by "super powered Turtles" you mean when they bring up their Chi and have those streaks and have the dragon Avatars, then that's fine with me. It was relevant to the story arc. I don't really consider that to be like the Super Shredder. And since it had to do with the medallions and does not show up in Fast Forward, I don't think it is going to be a permanent thing.
And the Jersey Devil can be just one episode, the same way it was just a small part of the newest movie. Would be a filler episode and nothing else. I would not like it if he were a recurring character gimmick.

A cameo by the Jersey Devil would be fine, but don't beat it into the ground. Show a cameo and let that be it. My question is, since the Lost Season is going to be shown after Fast Forward, it still falls right before Fast Forward time wise right? It's canon as far as the 2k3 series go, and is still before FF right?

Oh yeah, it still happens before Fast Forward. Leonardo's shell has healed by Fast Forward, while in the Lost Season it still had some damage.
I for the life of me cannot fathom why did they show Fast Forward first. The 5th season is AWESOME and I can imagine people being glued to their seats and eagerly awaiting the next episode. There was no reason to jump the gun and show Fast Forward a semester early.

- Four Acolytes
- Four Shishios
- Possibly the bad guys
- Ninja Turtles who have brought up their Chi- especially if you can press a button to make them glow in the dark.
Sounds quite good to me! And throw in a Chikara doll and a Joy doll and I'll be even giddier.

That and the series being canon with 2k3 are my prime concerns. The art of FF makes it look too similar to 4Kids' other crappier shows.

I wonder if they adapted any Tales Volume 2, which ones would they adapt?
I'd say the first issue would be pretty good. Don's perspective, lots of action, and a flashback to when they are 12 -- what's not to love?
Huh, I wonder how much the kiddies would be traumatized if they adapted the issue where Klunk gets hit by a car. Actually I kind of would like to see the twist that 2k3 Mikey would give the situation. Not gonna happen, obviously ... because children must be sheltered from any mention of death.

"Loops"
"Bad Moon Rising" with Angel

The one where the evil spheres show up.
Any other Leonardo and Donatello tales.
The Hamato Hana one could possibly work.

Yeah, having Klunk die this soon would be too mean. Here's what I want to see:
1. Multiple story arcs.
2. Opening narratives.
3. No stupid battle cries. Just let the Turtles fight as they always do with no cheesy battle cry.
4. Villains who actually are evil and visits from past villains like Hun and Karai, but not Shredder. Let him stay where he is.

Upon returning back to their present time, the turtles accidentaly take a cosmic U-Turn to some alien planet that accidentaly set 4 alien convicts free. BubblyShell22

Yeah, but how many times can the Shredder be resurrected. I think that even without him, the show was good. Karai was a pretty good villain, and Hun had a bigger role, too. Maybe they should do something like that again for this series, except make Karai either good or bad. I liked her as a villain, but it would be interesting to actually see her side with the Turtles for a little while.

I really hope they can de-simplify the characters and make them like their old 2K3 selves. Mikey is the jokester of the group, not a 10 year old. Raph's anger is a source of drama, not the source of him living in a garbage can and telling everyone to "get Lost!"
I hope the series also features equal balance on the characters, and we don;t have the entire series centered on one turtle.

No no no, you've got it all wrong. Ch'rell is the main alien who has organized the alien jailbreak (somehow he's in a jail now, not the iceberg). He also comes across a mutated turtle who looks exactly like the turtles but he has a black bandana and spikes. Once they've captured all the aliens from the mass jailbreak in tiny little red and white balls that put the criminal in a stasis field, then they take on Ch'rell, but by the time they take on Ch'rell, he's either got another huge mechanical body or he's attached himself to some human's body over their head.
