that we'll see original TMNT volume 1 collected? I found a site with a decent amount of the vol. 1 comics for cheap, but I don't want to start a whole new collection if they're going to be released in a more convenient format soon. Has there been any word on this yet? Sorry if this has been asked/answered before, but I don't keep up on things very well.

Unfortunately, it's beyond unlikely. Peter Laird isn't allowing Vol. 1 to be reprinted until he retones/reletters the whole thing (to look like this (http://www.geocities.com/roseangelo/history)). No word on the progress of this project has been given ... ever, I think?

weak. how long ago was this mentioned?

Probably when the retoned #1 was first published back in 2005.

heh, that sucks. looks like i'm not even a big fan of the retoning, so i'll probably just go with the original issues. i already have a few, and much prefer the feel of the art in those and the original #1 to the new version

seconded. I'm glad I've already gotten the first trade (COllected Volume 1)

Managed to get it dirt cheap. (At least, compared to how much it usually costs.)

That takes care of most of the Eastman and Laird together work righ there.

I used to think that I'd just wait for Volume 1 to be re-released, then I realized that it probably wouldn't happen for a while, so I got impatient and have been looking around for the old graphic novels, reasonably priced single issues, and so on. Now I have a good deal of the beginning of volume 1 in graphic novel form, and now I'm looking for other volume 1 books that may be of interest.

I remember last year at Comic-Con I was looking for Turtles comics and was kind of disappointed. Comic-Con seems to usually have almost everything somewhere, yet I didn't find too many bins with Turtles comics. I did manage to find a few good comics, though.:)

I'm looking for collected trade editions of Volume 1 as well.

At the official site you should be able to find a few. As far as ones that cover the first 11 issues and the 4 solo turtle books, that's a little harder.

The 4 books from First cover the first 12 issues I believe. They have been colorized and are not black and white. Here is a link

I ended up getting those First graphic novels. Pretty much the breakdown is:

Book 1: Issues 1-3

Book 2: Issues 4-6

Book 3: Issues 7-9

Book 4: Leonardo, Issues 10 and 11

Other than Leonardo, the other solo turtle stories aren't included. Those issues I've been trying to find, and the Raphael one seems to be the toughest. Probably not surprising since it's also Casey Jones' first appearance.

Does Peter Laird really think the re-toning of the book looks good? Save yourself some time, money, and fans by just releasing the original's first....C'mon Peter...

Look fine to me. Barely noticable difference. Even with Rose going over it with a fine tooth comb, it looks perfectly fine to me.

Much ballyhoo about nothing.

IMO the re-toning doesn't look that bad, so I'd agree that just going by issue one it's not a big deal.

However, I don't think he should redo any of the pencils or the dialogue or make changes to the story. Then we get into George Lucas territory. So until we get a better sense of what exactly is being changed, I still think Rose has a point.

Dear god tell me your kidding? Stark black and white v's shaded and depth? That bizzare dizzying background and bland titling on pages 2-3?

the utterly confusing and inane butchering of page 5, backgrounds included?

complete removal of depth in figural drawing?

And you don't see a difference?

Man, I hope your kidding.
