How much do Scratch figures usually go for?
HalfcourtGame
09-23-2007, 11:02 PM
I usually see them in the $250 range. So that's a little high it seems to me. I couldn't justify spending that much on one figure even though Scratch would be cool to have. I really wish I would have just got one in store back in the day when they were what like 5 or 6 bucks?

Hehe, I loved playing with Scratch! Him and his little wise-ass stool pigeon. Man, that pigeon was always causing some crazy shenanigans! Then I'd have to get my Hotspot out to put Scratch in line.
Yeah, I'm basically being a bas+ard by telling that story but it is a true account and yes I really do have them; although mine are MITB (mint in toy box!)

Yeah I would never buy a mint in box action figure for more than like 20 bucks. Cuz I would prolly end up playing with it or put it on display posing with all my other figs. No matter how rare it is...I feel like I have to let it breathe. yeah I know...

I've had 8 MOC Scratch's over the years and he is definitely one of the rarer figures from the line.

Yeah, according to Wikipedia, he is the rarest figure. Kinda weird too cause he is such a miniscule character from the whole TMNT universe.

He is probably the most expensive figure. But I wouldn't call him the rarest. MIB Black Belt Boxing Mikes (the recalled Ninja Action Mike figure) are less common. Several of the later releases are less common on eBay in my time looking. Though I will admit that I haven't actively searched vintage TMNT auction in a while.

I've seen them sell in the $150-$160 range a few times over the past few months...you just gotta be patient to find him cheaper than $300 (and willing to spend a little $$)

Really? I would have went into cardiac arrest if I had seen it. Any reason you didn't pick it up or do you just not collect the old line?

Wasn't that an opened one? And without accessories if I recall correctly...

Yep, I still haven't got myself a Scratch, but I'm determined and I'll have one some day. Some day...
I DO have a MIB, Black Belt Boxing Mike, in nearly perfect, C 9.5 packaging, that I bought on Ebay along with the other three N.A. in a lot for just $60. That was early in my collecting days and for a while I didn't know just how lucky I got.
I also managed to land Shogun Triceraton (with metallic blue weapons) and a Shogun Shoate (purple weapons), and both of those are also in excellent MIB shape.
So the collection is coming along nicely, but it won't be complete until Scratch is right next to those guys.

He was in-store. I remember seeing him and passing him up because I didn't know he was and I was much more interested in the familiar characters. Stupid, stupid boy.
But oh well, I would have just sold him at that yard sale with all the others when I turned 12 and was "all grown up".
And now I'm buying them all back. Stupid, stupid boy.

Never saw this guy in the store even once...but
I got mine MOC back in the 90s....traded a bunch of Starting Lineups MOC for it straight up....'course back then Scratch was worth like 350 bucks.

Feh! That's nothing. I know of 2 M.U.S.C.L.E figures that went for hundreds of dollars. They were so extremely rare that only a small amount were produced in the US just before the line ended. Little tiny loose figures for the same amount? it's like child's play.
But I tell you one thing. i wish I never opened my Nightmare before Christmas toys when i was younger...

you also have to remember that the "toy" aspect for those collectors who pay those prices is almost non-existant. These people pay hundreds of dollars for a glimpse back at their childhood, or a piece of history. The fact that they are buying a toy seldom crosses their minds. I know...I'm one of those people. :-P

WOW a shogun shoate and triceraton moc..NICE!!
Yes indeed, but unlike the Black Belt Mike, I had to pay slightly more realistic prices.
Like Archon says though, prices might as well be non-existent for collectors like us. As long as I keep up the bills, I'm not opposed to spending every other penny on TMNT toys. :D

I'm glad that the hardest to find TMNT figure is a figure that, for me, is an uninspired bottom-of-the-barrell character that I would probably never own even if it was the least expensive. Makes it a lot easier for me to just ignore it.
I'm not trying to be condescending, he just never did anything for me.
But I've felt that sting before with lots of other collectables... its always hard to not have that one figure, which ends up feeling like a giant chasm in the middle of the collection.

See, I kind of saw it that way too for awhile but the fact that he is so rare just makes him so great. Being a HUGE fan of the vintage line, there is no figure I wouldn't want to own. I just happen to go for the rare ones first because they are just going to get rarer. Are you saying if someone just gave you a Scratch, you aren't going to take it? I refuse to believe it.

The thing that made Scratch so cool to me was the fact that he was so hard to find I never gave up though and one week day afternoon after months opf searching and almost giving up I went to the now closed Family Toy Warehouse and low and behold there he was sitting there it was like I found my holy grail.:)

Scratch is the only figure that looks great on the Killer Bee figure. The Foot Soldiers look cheap and, in my opinion, don't make sense (Why have one on him and have the others walking?)
Shredder and Krang are too elite to want to sit on a mutant. Bebop and Rocksteady? They would fight about who gets to take turns. The other mutants don't look good or make sense. And Chrome Dome could fly, so why ride a mutant?
Scratch and Killer Bee are pimping out their prison stripes!

Happy feel-good moment. I don't have any figs as rare as scratch but I do remember searching for the foot mystic for months and when I finally found it, I was on cloud nine. Reading your post even made me feel good for you:)

Thanks, :) Searching for TMNT figures every weekend with my mom or mostly my Grandmother was the highlight of my week.
That's why It's been so hard for me to sell most of my collection of but If I've got to sell my past to make my future happen then so be it.
Sadly I've spent more selling the things on ebay than I have been making off my sales...go figure.

I never searched so long and so hard for a figure as a kid as I did the original April figure. I didn't end up getting one till a year and a half after her release. I still have nightmares.

The sad thing is that isn't a joke. When dudes are selling the original Donatello figure's Bo for 5 bucks, there is some porblems.
