I suspect this would have been bought up elsewhere, but I can't find it anywhere; if so, please move this.

Does anyone feel there will be a 25th anniversary EVENT, ie. exhibition/con? Since the first mention of the 25th anniversary, always my impression is of such a con. However, while I remained suspicious of this I have seen absolutely no evidence that this is being considered. But in Tales 38, when Dan talks of (from memory): "the 25th Anniversary celebration", I am quietly suspicious again.

I don't want to get hopeful, but in dreamland: a new "official" turtlecon would be great (with enough advance notice for travel). It could incorporate (support? envelop?) the fan-planned turtlecon 2009.

I know the Star Wars fandom is an incomparable leap from TMNT, but when I first heard of 25th anniversary events, the recent Star Wars Celebration was what first came to mind.

I think when Dan refers to the 25th Anniversary Celebration, it's in a general sense. Kinda like how Star Wars is celebrating 30 years all of this year, although as you point out there was an event to go with that. I think Murphy has also made some (very vague) references to 25th Anniversary stuff in his blog.

I am hopeful of a TMNT event, but have heard nothing to suggest either way.

There's something exciting to look forward to... just gonna have to wait to find out what, though.

Lucasfilm doesn't seem to be taking advantage of this 30th anniversary. Where is a huge DVD release?

Anyway, if nothing else, maybe the 25th anniversary will be noted at Comic-Con.

Uh, of what? The DVDs are available in plenty.

Maybe. Hopefully. But I wouldn't count on it unless Mirage is willing to make the trip.

If there is a TMNT convention, you bet I WILL attend. And I will even dress up like April in one of her incarnations.

That hasn't stopped movie studios before.:)

True. They could do an anniversary edition art box to house all the DVDs and throw in a bonus disc of Star Wars' Christmas Special or whatever. ^_^

Except that the Holiday Special is the one thing the Uncle George has disowned.

Yesterday they had the news on the official site about all the things coming out for the 25th anniversary

http://www.kidscreen.com/articles/daily/20071016/tmnt.html

That made me soo happy and excited because I turn 25 when TMNT does and to be showered in awesome merch and celebration of my all time favorite characters is just icing on the cake.
I was a little taken back that they called them 4kids entertainment's ninja turtles considering...but this is all great news a whole retro boutique at Hot Topic, the Neca figures, and more stuff in the works.
YESSSSSSSSSS!

Yeah, I was a little ticked that whoever wrote the article didn't do any fact-checking on that. But that's exciting, about you turning 25 in the same year! :)

Yeah it's kinda unreal huh? Like another reminder that I am in fact an adult...haha and then I got to thinking I have been a fan for probably 22 of those 25 years...wow it's just kinda mindblowing.
I am hoping they try to get another movie out for the 25th anniversary...wouldn't that be the best present!

Didn't the new movie do pretty well? I remember in the news people kind of made a big deal when it was #1 at the box office. Another movie, even another CGI one, would be great.

For an animated film with characters that haven't hit the big screen in over a decade it did very well :)
It would be perfect timing for a sequel my bet is that it would be CGI again
