ugh and double ugh!!! they need to seriously stop bringing in things from 2k3 into the irage comics I don't mind it the other way around this is bothering the heck out of me. Perhaps it's because it comes off as a selling point gimmic to me but oh well I'm sure I will get over it.
And I'm sorry to sound like a broken record but for the love of god please if your going to have a monumental issue like that do not have jim lawson do the comics art work or pay him more money so he does better art work or something shesh can his style slide any lower down the pole.
I do love the idea of Sid coming back but the way those foot mystics look bother me to no end.

FREAKIN' FINALLY!
Yeah, I'm not too sure 'bout those Foot Mystics, but I love the cover--and bringing back Sid sounds great!
Raph would no doubt be best man. Wonder what the bachelor party would be like? Bustin' heads?

Bachelor party = Body count? lol I have to agree with Putre about bringing 2k3 into the comics, but at the same time, this is a Tales issue, so who knows where it falls in the timeline...

Surprisingly, I do like this cover. I hope the interior art is up to the same standard.
The Foot Mystics also do nothing for me...

Bodycount Bachelor Party! Yee-ah! Love that!
Hey, how come April's got a katana behind her back? Since when has she fought with one in Mirage continuity?

I dont see any problem. If Pete happened to stumble on a good thing with the Mystics when producing the series, then he's welcome to incorporate it into the comics.

The problem is this entire time in the series they where never there.
He's taking things from the show and incorperating them into the comic that never even had such characters untill now.
Like I said I am sure I'll get over it but I really don't like the mixing of the universes unless it's some sort of cross over.
I thought Pete didn't write Tales 2, but supervised. Am I mistaken?

Supervised means he approved it though... BTW aren't the current comics using the 2K3 Foot symbol now instead of the original Foot Clan symbol that actually looked like a foot?

Depends on the issue. For this one it says he came up with the plot (while Dan wrote the actual script).

And seriously also if Sid is part of the foot clan they've seriously lost their minds...the foot would never let a loser thug like sid join their ranks.
Supervised means he approved it though...
Approving it makes it all his fault? That doesn't seem fair.

Approving it makes it all his fault? That doesn't seem fair.
It doesn't matter who it is it's a matter that it just seems stupid when he gets all ticked about people asking him to bring in other characters to the cartoon and into comics yet they take from the new cartoon and slap it all over the old mirage comics like it's some sort frosting on a cake.
And if you ask me the cakes stale.
It's the same exact thing though they might as well just toss bebop and rocksteady in there while they're at it.
He's also the head of the company if he didn't like an idea or the way something looks he tells them no or to change it so really when it comes down to it it's really on his head or whomever is in charge of ideas and editing.
Also The Foot Mystics have been in tales of tmnt before and did not look as they did in the cartoon as they do on this cover.
But like I am saying I don't care who's at fault the idea is not a good one.
You want to make a 2k3 or cartoon based comic than make than don't edit out the past and change everything because you've got some vision.
But like I am saying I don't care who's at fault the idea is not a good one.
Agreed. .

Hey, how come April's got a katana behind her back? Since when has she fought with one in Mirage continuity?
I don't know, but she has been involved in at least one scrap with the Turtles, Casey, and Shadow in TMNT 4.6 (or was it 4.7?) after she sets off a metal detector due to the Nanobots in her system. She displayed some martial arts ability and suggested that her spending time around the Turtles rubs off. Maybe she developed some interest in the Katana?

What's with the constant assault of Casey stories in Tales? Isn't it Tales of the TMNT, not Tales of the Goongala?
a_big_apple
10-11-2007, 11:55 PM
A blade has been her weapon of choice in other continuities, like in the Archies, and in the new movie...but I'm only just starting to be up on the Mirage stuff as I slowly accumulate those comics, so I'm not sure if we've ever seen her with one in Mirage before. I'm excited for this issue, though!

Oh, and a Tales set in the future featuring Cody Jones.

But then Cody would be a descendent of Shadow since April's unable to have kids due to her not being real. Course this would make Cody not biologically descended from April and Casey.
The Ninja Tribunal and Ancient One will probably end up in the comics. They appeared in Leo's issue for the new movie.

Please, I'll put up with everything else as long as Mirage WILL NOT put Cody Jones in any issue or form of the TMNT comics.
Bishop or Hun, okay--worse could happen. But Cody? I DON'T THINK SO.

Isn't Bishop based off Braunzel from Volume 2?
Also, April was a drawing originally only in the Mirage universe. This does not mean that the OT/Archie/movie/2k3 April is also a line drawing.

Ya know, I think it would actually be okay if 4Kids brings in April's Volume 4 backstory/origin. Maybe this time they'd get it right.
Not right, really, but a version we'd all be happier with. And it beats TMNT: Overload any friggin' day.

The art looks awful as usual, and I too don't like the inclusion of the 2k3 mystics.

I think I'll give this one a miss, man this is becoming a regular occurrence for me.

The S: Isn't it Tales of the TMNT, not Tales of the Goongala?
LOL!
Even though I have been begging for more Casey stories for years, and he has always been my favourite character, even I am drowning in this current flood.
And I don't mind creating common elements among the universes, but we already have Mirage mystics, there is no need to give them this very 2K3 look.
Who designed and created the Mystics anyway? Or the Battle Nexus? Who has the rights over these names/designs/characters??
Jester: I dunna....in the 2k3 series Renet said she'd met April in her past and April's future....*shrugs* I guess >> changed that a bit...maybe...

Laird. Laird. Laird. Laird. Laird, and...oh...Laird.
Design may not be entirely accurate, the mystics could have been by the animation team and he's just told Lawson to accept the design they have, but everything becoming canon presently is all Laird's to begin with.
As for why they are being used, simple. Money. If MIRAGE continues to use sources of animated canon in their own, they can attract possible viewers of that series (mostly the inexperianced teenage or older demographic to be honest given the market) so that when they pick up the issue, they recognise elements they are familiar with and can read something that is new at the same time.
Ya know, I think it would actually be okay if 4Kids brings in April's Volume 4 backstory/origin. Maybe this time they'd get it right. .
Nothing wrong with it in the first place.

i mean that they may have wanted to do the "April is a drawing" thing in 2k3 but with the release of >> April would be assumed to be human, since she could have kids, something the drawing Vol 4 April can't do.

Too true. One must not forget, however...
"Creativity is more than just being different. Anybody can plan weird; that's easy. What's hard is to be as simple as Bach. Making the simple, awesomely simple, that's creativity."
New ideas, experimentation is great -- But it's not enough to be "new." It has to be new, but it should be at least match the old in its "harmonies." Not everything different is better. Not everything new is superior.

Huh? I don't get your point.
In the comics, Rennet took April back in time to witness her own 'birth' as a drawing. And yeah, Cody Jones proves April can have kids, something Mirage drawing April can't. However... that doesn't mean the 2K3 cartoon can't make up something like... her father used a ball-point pen/fountain pen/etc etc to explain why she might still have kids???

That, as always, has been the subject of opinion. Minority or majority, makes no difference. If it bends to one's quality standard, it remains a quality standard no matter which way you sway it in an argument to the other.

He does have April's red hair and Casey's blue eyes.
He does show April's interest in technology and Casey's impulsiveness and enjoyment of action.
He could still be adopted- OR the descendant of the adopted Shadow. But there is some O'Neil and Jones resemblance there.
Yep. It's nature vs. nurture. Were this my comic concept, a bunch of people on the internet saying, "No friggin' way! There's no way in hell it could ever work like that!", would make me go out and find a way to prove them wrong.
