I give the floor to Mikey...

"I think I speak for everyone here when I say, Duh."

:P All facetiousness aside, yeah, there's a noticable difference. Peter Laird loves his futuristic/technological sci-fi, and most TMNT stories are flavored like that nowadays. Whether you like that or not has been debated and argued in many threads on this board, but I think it's pretty clear that there is a distinct difference in what kinds of stories get told when Eastman doesn't have any input.

That is the main thing I can say. That the stories lean more towards Laird's tastes in every way. More sci-fi, more futuristic storylines, more aliens, more technology, more Donatello.

And subsequently less grittiness, less realism, less city-ness, less fights, less Raphael.

How Leonardo and Michelangelo have been affected by this, I am not sure.

Laird seems to like Raphael least (at least in my opinion). Whatever he feels about Leonardo and Michelangelo, I'd say he recognizes their popularity, because the new toon is kind of their show.

Fortunately for Raphael, he has the most obsessive fans. And he owns the movies.

True words of wisdom

But yes, Eastman's absence has affected the turtles. No doubt about that. When you collaborate or work with someone, ideas are affected in a whole new way. With two eyes on the task instead of one, different stories and ways to develop characters will evolve when writing a comic or a book. I'm sure that if Eastman stuck around the TMNT franchise and helped Larid write the stories...well, yeah, things would be very, VERY different.

As Masked did before me I'll allow Mikey to answer for me...Mikey?

Is, like, "Schwarzenegger" hard to spell?

Thank you Mr. Hamato, you may step down.

I'm not saying that it's bad, I'm just saying you can tell it's Laird's baby now, and as a Raphie fan, I'm kinda saddened, though Donnie is my second favorite. (Odd, the 2 I like least, though I love them all, are the 2 that aren't Laird or Eastman's Personal favorites...hmmm.)

Doesn't Kevin Eastman still approve most if not all Turtle stuff? Like scripts and plots? I thought he simply did not write new things or come up with new ideas or characters- but that he still had to give the thumbs up in order for them to go through.

My fave Turtle is not only not a fave of either creator, but often given the shaft in some universes and underappreciated by many fans.

Nope, Peter is primary owner. Kevin has no say but I think still gets some royalties since they are still called "Eastman and Laird's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."

It's so weird when that's the case; Leo is the leader. How can a leader get the least attention?

Power to the little people!

... since they are still called "Eastman and Laird's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."

They actually haven't been called this since the early 90s. Eastman and Laird got dropped from the title with City at War. However, both are still naturally credited with the "created by" and "based on characters and comic books by" titles. Although Peter's name always comes first now.

And also, the reason why the turtles don't have nails on the new movie is because Laird said turtles don't have nails. Uhh...Mr. Laird, I have 4 turtles back home, they all have nails,Duh. I know it's minor but it bugs me, it's like they're incomplete or something.

Turtles have claws. I think only primates have true nails.

But they could have mutated into nails on the other hand.

me couldn't agree with u more!why does he hate Raph anyway?he is not less much handsome than him?or is it because that he has won more obsessive fans than himself from the movie he made for him?why does he do that?he didn't kill his puppy...?:-?

They may be technically classified as nails, but they are certainly not similar to the primate nails they had in the movies.

this may have been discussed before. if so please link me...

but why exactly is eastman no longer involved. Was it a good split? Are they still friends? Did he take a buy out offer from laird? I have never understood whats up.
