View Full Version : So are they going to make Bishop a villian again in '08?

Might as well call the new direction 2k8...anyway, we saw in FF that Bishop reforms and creates the PGA from the EPF. Thus becoming a good guy. However, with the Turtles coming back to the present, will Bishop be a dick again or will we see him around the time he reforms?

I don't think he reforms within the Turtles' normal lifespans, right? I think it was a little into the future when the aliens started arriving. Also, since they know how he'll turn out in the future, I don't think they'll fight him as much, unless he gives them a reason to.

Bishop reforms 50 years after the turtles were gone. Well, he actually said 50 years ago, but since the turtles traveled 100 years into the future, it would be 50 years whether it's going forward or backwards. I think since they're turtles, I wouldn't be surprised if they lived as long as real turtles. Considering they're only in their teens right now, 50 years later would only make them Senior Mutant Ninja Turtles.

I think he'll still be a villain. The TMNT are not gonna let him walk all over them, but they won't kill him since they know he will eventually turn a new leaf. It should make for a some good conflict.

I can actually see the writers ignoring Bishop altogether next season to avoid continuity errors. We don't even know if we'll see him.
Dang... My answer was already used. :ohwell: But, since he's a bad guy up until Baxter goes missing, we'll only see him as a here again in the Fast Forward comic strips from the TitanUK magazine, and if they ever make an epilogue ep to the lives of the 2K3 Turtles.

That could create an interesting paradox. Should they tell him that he will eventually change sides? Should they try to convince him to change early?
Personally, I would like to see more with his clone (aka The Rat King). I think eventually the TMNT will have to have some of their memories of the future erased. The temptation to change things will be too great. Maybe they seek out the Utroms, and while they are in space getting intentional amnesia, UTROM SHREDDER comes back!!!! That would be cool.

I tried making that point before. No one dug it. But, it's all predestined to work out the right way. That's why Don hadn't lived through the time yet that he helped build O'Neil Tech, Renet and her boss haven't interfered, and Mike & Raph were able to relay their message to the T in "Timing is Everything". So, it's one of those, 'try as hard as you want to alter the future, but you were meant to make those decisions at the time' sort of thing. Perhaps that's how Renet decided to take herself out of the equation and not interfere in the world of man (and woman) anymore. O_o

So, like that scene in the first Matrix where keanu breaks the vase. And then she says 'would you still have broken it if i hadn't said anything.' I get it.

I think Bishop will still be a villain, but they may not show much of him. I think they need to show Rat King some more because he was freaky. However, I know the Turtles will probably want to let Bishop know of the future, but Splinter will warn them that terrible consequences will happen if the future is revealed.

But the Rat King is Bishop! Sort of. Not really. In fact he's kind of Splinter and the Turtles too. Heh heh. Whatever you want to call him, the Slayer/Rat King is WAY cooler than Bishop.

In the pitch on Murphy's blog, it said that Don spruces up the lair based on the technology he learned about in the future so that means the Turtles don't get their memories wiped.
I said it before, but I'd really love to see Don and April start up O'Neil tech based on the technology of the future. Its such an awesome paradox if O'Neil Tech was started AFTER Don saw it in the future...but it had to happen before he went in the timeline...yeah like Terminator, kind of.

well, it would be better if whenever they plan to finally end the entire TMNT series as a whole, the last episode would deal with April and Casey proposing, and April starting up the plans for O'Neil Tech with Donatello.

As much as I hate Bishop (MAINLY because he's a sadistic, arrogant, self-impotrant a$$), I personally figure that, if he IS in the 2k8 series/season, he'll be the same (see my comment in parentheses) that he was BEFORE they got zapped to the future.
But, ALSO personally, I just wish that they'd ditch him AND Stockman like they did Shredder, and bring in a whole NEW villian (or villianS) for the boys and their family to fight. You know, make it interesting.
But that's just me.;)

I skipped Fast Forward, so I'm hoping they don't tie too much of this new season to it.
I'd love it if they ignore that spin-off/season as much as possible, cause I'm not gonna waste my money on it that's for sure!
I'd love to see more of the Rat King, him being a favorite of mine from the original comics. I'd also love to see Bishop's storyline continue, since I felt they were gearing up to have him be the big baddie to replace the Shredder (cause lets face it, Karai's not a villian...and the Foot just don't work without the Shredder leading them.).
Speaking of one of my favorite characters...I wonder what they'll do with Karai. I really hope they don't continue the dull "I hate you because of your role in my father's death, I must kill you to avenge him" storyline with her...
She's clearly not a bad guy, she just wants to avenge her father...who just happened to be a bad guy (And if it's okay for the Hamato clan to avenge Yoshi...then why can't Karai get upset over her loosing her only family?). We haven't seen her participate in criminal activity since his exile/death either.
Because of certain things that happened in the Lost season...I'm hoping she'll call off her vendetta against the Hamato clan for good, and consider them even. Maybe even fix her broken friendship with Leonardo...she said so herself that he had been her friend, and she did try to fix things with him in that fake story from that "Journal" FF eppy (It was fake, but Spinter did write it, perhaps he felt that she could change...he's the only one besides Leo who seemed to understand her and give her the benefit of the doubt).
I have a lot of high hopes for this season, even though in an earlier post I commented that I wasn't going to get my hopes up.
I miss the show I loved, and it sounds like they're gonna try and bring it back (hopefully, to it's former glory!).

Too bad, the whole new lair is going to be based on what the TMNT observed in the future.
And please stop calling FF a spinoff, its directly tied to what came before and what's coming after it, and uses the same episode numbering.

I call it a spin-off because that's how they promoted it.
It had a whole new theme-song, a subtitle tacked onto the title, and long before it started airing it was referred to as "a brand new series".
So, yeah...even though it shares the same continuality, and even though Mirage themselves call it season 6 (and 7?), to me it's still a spin-off.
If they didn't promote it as one, then I wouldn't think of it as one...but they did.
And I never said they had to totally ignore the events of FF (even though I'd be much happier if they did), I'm aware of the fact that Don's going to rebuild the Lair due to their trip to the future (as implied by Mr. Murphy).
I'm just hoping they don't revisit that much, that's all.
4Kids had officially dubbed >> a spin-off, but the Mirage people didn't want to hear it. Technically, I think that means that the 2008 season will be the spin-off of a spin-off. Crazy...

Hey, Star Trek: TNG is a spin off of the original (and heck DS9 a spin off of TNG and Voyager a spin off of DS9) and they all share a conntinuity. Why can't >> and 2k8 be "spin-offs"?
[blah blah blah] 2k8 [etc etc]
Any other nominations for pet-names of the new direction of the show? This one here sounds like a winner.

I think the FF theme is way better then the 2K3 one. It actually matches the series, unlike the 2K3 intro.
I hope they talk about the future, they need to take what they've learned there and apply it to the new times. I want to see them deal with living in darkness and hiding again. Their used to being able to run around in the day and living in a penthouse.

Sorry, Spit, but I liked 2K3's theme better. However, I think they will talk about some things that happened in the future, though I don't know if they'll tell April and Casey all of it. In "The Journal" none of the Turtles told Casey that in the future he's dead, so I doubt they'd do that to him in 2K8.

OH YEAH!!
But what April?
Seriously, though, Bishop needs to stay dark and evil. Otherwise, there really isn't much point to his character. Like Karai--I can't see 4Kids coming up with any good storylines for her now that she's reformed.
BubblyShell22
11-07-2007, 03:32 PM
Yeah, but who says Karai's totally reformed? It may have seemed that way at the end of TLS, but she didn't really form a truce with the Turtles officially. She may have reformed for now, but she could always go back to her old ways if the writers want her to.
As for Bishop, I definitely feel that he will remain a villain.

Bishop is like Napoleon Bonaparte. Neither a candidate for canonization nor a universal villain everyone loathes and fears. He is a complex character who follows his own morals and goals and is hard to place on either side.

It might be nice to give Bishop one last storyline, but not have the TMNT directly encounter him otherwise risk telling him information about the future.

It would really be funny for Serling to see Bishop as a Villian.

I think we might see FF's Bishop instead of present Bishop, given Splinter is still in the future and might need another "ally" for something.
