When you were a young ass child, how did you play with your Turtles? Did you have any interesting on-going storylines, did you play in a specific universe (movie, toon, comics?), did you play alone or with others (this usually lead to fights or at least arguments), or do you have any significant memories or interesting anecdotes about your collection of action figuring days of a youth?

I personally used to line all the enemies up throughout the house in about seven or eight "stages" and make Michaelangelo fight his way through them all like a videogame.

I played with them as if I were doing an episode of the cartoon. There was always somewhat of a story, and this is embarrassing, but I even used to time myself and play for only 25 minutes because I wanted it to go on for the length of a normal episode.

My brother was a big fan of the Hasbro WWF wrestling figures when the TMNT figures were first release. So we often created Mutant Wrestling Leagues. I also had a hamster/gerbil cage with connecting tubes that I used as a sewer lair since I didn't have the actual lair play set.

to start with, when turtles just came out, my friends and i all had different members of the turtles......i think leonardo was mine (my friend paul had raph...who i wanted )

we would all get together on weekends and at primary school lunchtimes and play turtles. eventually we all got all 4 members of the turtles, but those days were wicked fun. we would swap figures and stuff too, trade the old archie comics and make our own playsets and vehicles cos we all lived in a small town....and none of the vehicles were readily available. HA!. it was great.

i even recall paul making a helicopter backpack from the saddle thingy of the turtle trooper parachute. batteries and all which powered these little rotor thingys. so cool. 8) i made a sewer lair labyrinth on my bookshelf and on the ceiling of the shelf i think there is still a cardboard manhole cover blutacked on it. i kept all the figures there.

but in answer to your question we were all very careful with one anothers toys! ;)

wow. thanks for the trip down memory lane! :)

I lived in the woods sort-a, and I remember using my moms sewing thread and attaching it from a tree limb to another point that was lower and using it as a zip cord. It was pretty cool at the time. And of course there was the usual fight with the brother!

I used to play TMNT with my lil sister... Elaborate storylines and old school Masters of the Universe figs joined in. Good times were had by all. A few years back my sister asked for the 4 turtles. I gave them to her. She waited almost 13 years to collect what she wanted more than any Barbie.

Now I bust out with my nephew!

I didn't have that many TMNT figures (like maybe 2 or 3 Don's) when I was a kid. I had some friends tho who had ALL the figures of that time. They were members of the fan club so every week while our moms were at the bar across the street me and my friends (a brother and sister) would play with the TMNT figs (sometime with a storyline) or watch the vids of the eps from the U.S (I was in Germany then). Ah...good times... good times...

Aw man I used to play so many ways...
I used to have some Batman, Power Rangers and Biker Mice From Mars along with about 20 or so turtle figures. Then me and my friend Cesar would have a tournament using 32 figures in a wrestiling ring. Each of them had special moves like in wrestling so it was pretty fun.
When I was alone I would do story lines with Shredder and the Power Rangers working together to try and Stop the Turtles. They were all different, like a cartoon, but with more fighting and less plot.
Lastly when I went over to my cousin Eddy's house we would place TMNT villians in differnt parts of his stairway and use the Turtles and fight their way through them until the reached the Top which was the pairing of Shredder and the Dragon Lord. Aww man those wer some fun times...:)

For me, I'd play with my Turtle toys by myself usually. I mostly played out adventures with 'em and had 'em always fight Shredder and his ninjas. Other than that, I can't really remember anything.

I played with TMNt mostly with stories when with myself, then threw that out and just went big action with my friends. Eventually I intergrated the TMNT with Marvel characters then went completly Marvel. As an adult, I still occationally play with my toys...:p The Marvel, DC, and Mirage (and Image in the case if Savage Dragon) all converge: Cap and Wolverine had experiences with the Foot while fighting in WWII for example. All worlds meet and often overlap.

Generally I'd round up anywhere from one to a dozen of my favorite-at-the-time toys and create some intricate storylines that took me all over the house, lawn and surrounding woods. I never segregated figs from different lines. TMNT were right alongside Ghostbusters, Toxic Crusaders, Masters of the Universe, GI Joe, MASK, Visionairies, Barnyard Commandos... well you get the idea!

Sometimes my friends and I would get together for army building, and just have these massive wars between like 100 figs and vehicles. Those were the days. My figs were well traveled back before I kept them packaged and stored them in the closet.

I used to have such an awesome collection. But it was almost all completely given away. However, recently I have picked up a few loose figures for old time's sake.

There are a few "storylines" I remember.

-I had a friend who was really interested in Batman. He loved Batman as much as I liked the Ninja Turtles. Michalangelo was probably the fan favorite at the time, so just about every day we would have a crossover story: "Michaelangelo meets Batman". Robin would occassionally join in too.:)

-One of the scenes from the Archie comic that I always remembered was April squeezing through the storm drain:

I had the audio cassette too. Anyway, because of that scene one storyline I used to play with the action figures involved April getting stuck "just like Winnie the Pooh" as Jay from Jay and Silent Bob would say. I would have her arms outstretched and put her in the manhole in the sewer playset as if she were stuck. Then maybe Shredder would come along and try to cause trouble, and then the turtles would fight him off, and then have to get April unstuck. Because I used to watch Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree as a kid too, I imagined all the turtles having to try to pull her out.

Sure that would mean that it was an awfully small manhole, but I think I just pretended that it was the storm drain again.:)

for me, drama. XD i used to play with shredder serverly enjuring raph or mikey and the turtles would be so worried and such and they should try to take care of the enjured....while the other seeks revenge or...i'd have raph abuse mikey, and mikey would be crying and don would confort him. or soemtimes they would be in theyre van and go out an all out attack on the foot:D but basiclu its just drama and arguing and fighting raph and leo fighting and such. good times. good times.:D

I used the playsets set up in my room, like the sewer and technodrome, and have my own stories. Or, I'd go outside with a few figures and just goof around with friends.

Usually I would play with TMNT toys as if they were in a cartoon episode, but I often played out the Arcade Game with the figures I had available as well.

I rarely got to watch the TV show, I'm guessing because it didn't air at a good time in Mexico City. However I still loved the turtles. I grew up watching anime so actually when I played with the turtles it would be a bloodbath they had super strength and whatnot it was nothing like the show. I don't think Shredder stopped being the main villian I had hatler from Dai no Dabouken (Dragon Quest) as a villian and Cable from X-Men even Dr. Piranha from Street Sharks at one point. Of course SHredder would always morph into Super Shredder as quickly as possible too....

Event hough I had tons of variants I rarely played with them, and when I did they were not "slam dunk" donatello or "Samurai" Leonardo, instead they were "cousins" of the turtles.

I also played re-enacting the two TMNT arcade games/nes/snes games.

good times.8)

I always used to use the Variants as evil clones sent by the Shredder and Krang to confuse the Turtle's allies and defeat the turtles. Sometimes I would pretend that they were turtles from an alternate universe or from the Future.

I didnt realize more people reinacted the video games. I tried to create little sequels for them.

Other memorable moments or concepts in TMNT playing I remember were:

- In about 1992, I had a giant battle of Autobots and Turtles VS Decepticons and the Foot that was to retire my Transformers toys storyline. It was just a massive battle with little story in the living room. I didnt have any major stories or play with the Transformers a whole lot again until 1996. The only other time I actually went through with something that major was when I killed off Bob in my BATMAN toyline.

- One memory that stands out is me and my cousin playing a long, 1-on-1 battle between Raph (his favorite) and Super Shredder, which wasnt my favorite character but definently was my favorite figure. I think it started with regular Shredder and he mutated during the battle. For some reason, I've always remembered my cousin after he "won" the battle made Raphael say "maybe next time I'll be super".

- I dont know if you did this, but it was the coolest thing ever and in fact I still do it sometimes. I would take a plastic cup and fill it with water and work into some story one of the Turtles being hit by a freeze ray or frozen somehow, then place it in the freezer over night. Then I'd put a rag or something on the carpet and beat the ice block out of the cup and I'd have a frozen Turtle to thaw out or mess with in various ways, the best of which was to throw the ice down hard on the concrete since that had a good chance of breaking an arm off or something, which was fresh.

- This is the stupidest thing ever. I got some fake cigarettes from a carnival that blew "smoke" out, and I had a story where Donatello was kicked out of the Turtles for smoking. I guess he was turkey. To dishonor the Turtles, whenever I had them disgraced I'd remove their belt.

hahahahahahahahaha
I had to laugh very hard

thank you

BTW you are not the only one who froze his turtles :D

My battles would normally be epic battles that started out on the sewer playset where things would be pretty even. Then once the TMNT fought their way to the Technodrome the bad guys would take home court advantage and most of them would be injured and/or captured very quickly.

All except one. Usually Raphael.

Whoever was still in fighting shape at the time would rescue his friends, brothers, and whoever else and would regroup with whoever else was still able to fight. The group would then ambush the bad guys one-by-one until the Shredder was the only one left. Then, while all simultaneously attacking the Shredder, they would get their asses handed to them (because Shredder's a badass) until someone gets a lucky shot in and takes him out.

Then I'd grab some of my homemade "Ninja" weapons, go outside, and practice martial arts while pretending to be Turtles with my friends.

I would play with my brother's figures. Sometimes they went on adventures, sometimes they would stay home. They were really off the wall- one involved some bad mutant turtle trying to abduct one of the Turtles claiming he was his biological father and the Turtle refusing.

My stories were closer to that in ridiculousness than a normal, sane TMNT scenario. I wanted most to just do specific things and try to pretend they didnt happen all the time, such as using a turned over clothes hamper as a cage. I always thought that was fun for some reason but didnt want it to seem redundant so I was always cautious not to do it more than once per session. I also liked tying a figure up with twine or hanging it to the ceiling fan with thread. It'd spin around several times and then eventually fly off.

Also, on the story front, I guess my scope was a little too ambitious because most of the time the battle was "the final showdown" and was supposed to determine the fate of everything, and then I'd have to say "okay, that never happend" the next time I played.

Alot of problems were solved by "using the Turtle-Blimp!" because that was the coolest vehicle easily, except for maybe the Turtle Van and the inner-tubes, and I'd stack everyone who could fit on it and then crash it.
