View Full Version : So no more OT DVD's then?
It is almost December (when they usually release a new OT DVD,) and still there is no news on any kind of release. They usually don't wait this long, which leads me to believe maybe they gave up on it?
Has anyone heard any news on season 6 coming to DVD anytime soon?

We're going to have to wait until we actually hear something official to start worrying. That's all I'm gonna say.
It would be a cheat to end the series half off. But then they never made follow up DVD's for Alf the Animated Series and Alf Tales.

And, of course, the whole "selling trouble" issue that halted Gargoyles too.
As for Classic TMNT, same here (wouldn't worry, least til actually have news one way or the other).

Well did the Season 5 set sell well?
I also think maybe Lionsgate wants to spread out the releases because there's not that many more episodes left. In 2007 we got all of Season 4 and 5, which totals to about 70 episodes. That's a ton to release in a single year.
Maybe they're just saving Season 6 for next year.

Believe me the TMNT DVDs are selling very well. The OT DVDs went fast, we always had like 5 of each in stock but we always got like 5 of each every week if not more then once a week. They sold better then the movie and the new toon.
So I see no selling issues, that is just my area though so who knows.

I'm not worried about the series getting released or not, but I'm pissed about this ****** release schedule.
The three releases a year just started the year before and since they started doing season sets maybe they decided to only do 2 per year. If we were doing 3 volumes per year we would still be releasing season 4.
So I wouldn't be too scared yet, also remember the 1 year wait we had from volume 1 to volume 2 (season1/2)?

Yeah. unless we get a confirmation that Lionsgate has stopped doing these all together, we shouldn't really fuss much. Maybe if there is a delay, it would be that they're trying to get the European episodes and the Planet of the Turtleoids special to fit into their releases.

I know about the European episodes being a sideseason, but is there a reason why Planet of the Turtleoids wouldn't fit as the first episodes of the next release? Forgive me if I sound dumb, but as a kid, I didn't see more than the first Slash episode after the show went to CBS (I have no clue why that was the only CBS episode I saw). Most of the show is still new territory for me, which makes it all the more fun :D
With the Planet of the Turtleoids episodes as part of Season 6, that would make it 18 episodes. Meaning Liongate is probably planning on the same quality release as Season 5. Then we have the Sideseason (13 Episodes) that could be it's own release, letting people put it where they want it. Then Season 7 (14 Episodes), which I guess can hold it's own as a stand alone set. Lastly Season 8, Season 9, and Season 10 are all 8 episodes each, so I hope they make these 3 into one set (And with the "un-aired episodes" and fixed ordering...I can dream :P).
PS The topic title scared the living crap out of me, you peoples got to stop doing that to me :P

I wonder if that would be the reason for the delay. Would they be choosing to put the rest of the seasons into a collection, or will they release them in single disk form like before?

Seriously. No offense guys, but there are just too many Chicken Little threads on the Internet.
Still, I'm way behind on the cartoon DVDs. I'm still on the ones that were 12-13 episodes per release.
How are those new toon ones coming along? The ones that were half season sets?

Seem to be 'stalled' at the moment (as Season 1 is all that's been released).

I think there was a thread about that not too long ago in the new toon discussion. I think the next one is coming out in Febuary.

Don't forget 4kids is also finally releasing Season 5 on DVD next year so we technically get done with Season 2 and 5 in 2008.
After that all they'd have to re-release is collectors sets for Season 3 and 4 since FF was already released properly.

So Season 1, Part 2 is out already? I think season 1 part 1 has been hinted at as a possible Christmas present. :)
I've only seen a handful of the 2003 episodes, but after tracking down and reading the original comics I've been interested in the TV series.

Yes, Season 1 Part 2 has been out for a while now infact. Nice one (on Christmas gift).
The series is quite good.

I'm sure there'll be more. Besides, they got plenty more voice actors to interview and I would love to see them all get a chance to remenisce!
Sage Ninja
12-16-2007, 06:36 PM
what I would like to see, is all the voice actors giving their comentary on select episodes and what they remeber during that recording.
And does any one think it would be nice if they included some of the old ninja turtles video games along with these releases in some form maybe?
Jephael
12-17-2007, 06:36 AM
Um, well the video games really never had anything to do with the show itself, especially since video game technology didn't have the means to put voice recordings in. The closest thing we ever got to that was some random computerized voices shouting one liners like "Cowabunga!" and "Shell Shock!"

Well, TMNT arcade games seem to be focused on season 1, somehow...
Um, well the video games really never had anything to do with the show itself
Questionable choice of words there... They included 'toon versions of characters when they could have used the Mirage version. But, you're right about it not being likely to happen. Konami only ever gave us a demo of the 2K3 videogame on a 2K3 DVD, and only for the first. So, it's safe to say that was for the sake of cross-promotion, not charity. Plus, Nintendo has a say in the matter as well (for the games developed for Nintendo systems, which were most of them). And, they wouldn't give away what they're still able to sell (on the Wii system). So, this idea is a pipe-dream. :ohwell:

S**t! I can't stand not having any news at all yet. No episode list, no boxart picture, not even a confirmation. Season 5 was released like 5 months ago, and I really don't get the logic behind not having a set available before Christmas... HURRY UP! (with OT and NT discs).

I'd be so depressed if we didn't get the rest of the series on DVD.
C'mon, there's only 5 seasons left! And technically they could finish off the whole series in just 3 more boxsets if you combine seasons 8, 9 and 10 together.
I want to rewatch some Season 6 and 7 episodes that I haven't seen in who knows how many years.

Well I taped them all when they first aired including the next mutation..which I don't think will ever see a dvd release in the states.
But even though I'm lucky I taped them I'd like to trash my tapes for some official dvd's.

I had taped many of the episodes when they aired, but not all of them. Unfortunately for me, the seasons I have the least amount of episodes taped from are 6, 7, and 8, so I'm particularly looking forward to seeing those on DVD. I sure hope that we hear some news about more DVDs soon...

Nope. Half of season four was released in a 14-ep close-but-not-quite-in-order set, leaving the first 10 and 12th eps scattered over multiple DVDs. So, if anything, they'll at least redo the first half of that season. I'm hoping for both halves being redone, but we'll know which to expect after Season 5 is released, early '08.

So... crazy question... did anyone bother to contact Lion'sGate yet?
Yes. They don't want to give us the time of day... perhaps because so many project managers were blown through after I put the word out that they wanted to make the first release "The Epic Begins" and subsequent releases 3 eps each back while the Artisan label was still active. They're just looking out for their best interests. I posted the 'general suggestions' address they gave me a while back, but I don't remember what it was. Just go to their official site and you'll find it.

3-episode releases of the OT?
That's nuts!
Yep. But, it was half a decade ago, and they got the message loud and clear that the fans wouldn't appreciate it one bit. Of course, Mr. David Wise gave the most important opinion on the matter by personally contacting Artisan. I think there were three different project managers working on it before Volume 1 hit.

Season six was announced yesterday (http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-Season-6/8737)
Not quite... It was leaked info. Can we trust it? I hope not. It isn't accounting for the 2nd Hokum Hare ep (again), and the 'Turtleoids' srecial that is sequelized in Season 6.
