Thanks to Murphy as always, on his blog:
Here's a sneak peek of a new character that will be debuting in the 2K8 season.
Is he a friend or foe? Raph's new human friend? The turtles' new foe? Hun's replacement? A Yakuza leader? April's landlord?
Stay tuned. ;)

Looks cool, he seems to have jumped right out of Jackie Chan Adventures.

hmm, sounds interesting. I'm hoping that he is something more of a Yakuza leader. With all the off the wall futuristic stuff in FF I'm would like some good old gritty urban based stroy lines with gangs and crime sydicates for the turtles to deal with in the back streets and alleys of New York.

Cool! This drawing isn't even cleaned up completely -- you can still see the sketchy places and where the color spilled over. Must be pretty raw and Murphy's sharing it with us. That man is awesome.
Oh, those eyebrows... and that pointy outfit. I like this guy's design! I like it very much.

Man. This new toon might just be pretty good after all. I can't wait to see how this plays out.
Nope, you're not alone. I find that thought hilerious...
To me it looks like Hun's successor, or maybe second in charge for the Purple Dragons. He's got dragons (or snakes...or some sort of long scaley thing) on his robe, so that's usually a bit of a give away. I like his design, save for the gold thing on his face. He looks pretty cool in my eyes. I would love to see him in action now... :D

To me, it's just relieving that he looks at least slightly ninja esque...we could have gotten something really ridiculous if you think about it.

On second look, maybe not. I'm intrigued. Who is this guy? Could he be Oroku Nagi?

He definitely looks like a villain to me.
Whether he is in the Purple Dragons- not necessarily. He may be the head villain of the season. Or another one of Karai's henchmen. Or Darius Dunn's ancestor.
I'm just happy to see the progress.
And hopefully Splinter will be there to help his sons fight this menace.

I'm really glad the news is rolling in. I hope they can take this series in a serious direction. This is supposed to return to the darker roots of 2k3 correct? Or did I make that up?

Or Darius Dunn's ancestor.
Darius is British so I doubt that.
I think he's either related to Karai or Hun or he's Hun's replacement or something. Or Hun went on a diet while the guys were in the future.
April's landlord FTW!! ^_^
This is supposed to return to the darker roots of 2k3 correct? Or did I make that up?
Close. We've only been promised a return to the tone and setting of 2K3. The rest is just presumed to be true.

Unnecesary and rampant speculation: April's landlord (doesn't she own the 2nd Time Around building, though?) will be voiced by Scottie Ray. Wouldn't it be hilarious if he was just a random, nameless extra, though?
As for his design...seems a tad too busy, and a bit too deritative of previous concepts--the face dragon screams "Dragonface", and I've already seen enough stylized ninja garbs in this show to last me a lifetime--but I'll leave my final judgement from when I see more of the guy.

He's got the same markings on his cheeks as Zixx does and his blonde part of his hair is a dragon... gotta be a landlord, but I'm under the impression that April owns her own building like Big Bad said. Maybe he's a tenant?

I see some potential in this character, even though he looks like a refugee from Jackie Chan adventures. I mean, I see him as a villain. Maybe Hun's smaller brother. There's a family resemblance there.

Different design of the same character on Murphy's blog today.

Personally, I find the outfit on this one less interesting, but at the same time it's less "out there." The first one gives the impression that he is a slightly crazed sorcerer type, like a ninja version of Batman:TAS's Ra's Al Ghul. This one makes him look more like a down-to-earth street fighter.
Also you can see his beard more clearly in this one; looks cooler IMO than gold-plated headgear.

Head gear? I thought that gold Stuff was his hair (hense my Hun's Brother theory)
Anyway, looks pretty cool Wish we could find out more about him. just a little more.

Where did you read that he's voiced by Scottie "Im Shredder!" Ray??? Or is that just pure speculation?Like I said, it's "unnecessary and rampant speculation"; the only that makes me think that may be the case is Wayne Grayson's statement that Ray would be returning to the cast along with the rest of the regulars. Since he's probably not playing either Oroku Saki (since one is in space, and the other dead), then one can only assume that he'll either play a third (fourth?) Shredder (not likely--that well is dry), or he'll play an entirely new character.
This new character seems right up his alley.
As for this second design...eh. Less weird, much less interesting. Personally, I'd keep the outfit from the first design, minus the dragon headgear. Also, notice the line below his left eye on both designs--a scar? Also, "for knocking enemies out"; while "enemies" is a pretty morally neutral word, that particular word choice makes me think he's probably not a bad guy. I hope I'm wrong, though.

Is it just me or does his weopon resemble the time cepter from TMNT 3? The new design (his civvies I guess) is a bit plain. Course they were probably looking for that. I thought he had a dragon tattoo in the other one but I guess it's a helmet?

Oh boy can't wait to see generic Asian guy and the turtles battle it out.
Honestly he looks pretty lame so I hope he has some cool powers or something and isn't the leader of some big corporation that is secretly a band of ninja thieves. I think they did that one already. From first looks Bishop is pretty lame to but once you get to know him he's awesome so let's hope that's this guys case.

As I stated in Murphy's blog's comments, I think this guy is a villain. The second design is his civilian attire, while the first one is his battle armor.
I hope they do as good a job of weaving in plots and elements from the comic books as they have done so far.
I think it would be awesome if they make him a good guy. Why? Just to prove the age-old adage that 'appearances can be deceiving'.

Well he doesn't have anything wrapped around his midsection in the first pic, so him being an Utrom is out lol. I like the casual design. Shows us he has his alter ego side as well, just like Saki did.

It never crossed my mind that he could be an Utrom. However, he may not necessarily be a regular human like Hun. He may even be an alien for all we know. But he does have hominid form as his usual form from what I can tell.

I know right? We should have just kept up with FF and had the boys quit the marticial arts thing all together, since they've been doing that for over five seasons straight. ;)

I do to, it's not that I'm against it, it's just I would like to see some more urban based story lines. By the way does any one think that this new guy is from the the Battle Nexus? I think it would be cool if this guy had some connection to the battle nexus and a refreshing direction from all the alines and sci-fi stuff from the previous seasons. This new guy looks like he could be the Damiyo's son's cousen or something? Or hey maybe it's the Damiyo's son himself and aged some how and he's there incognito. Hmmm.

This new guy is bad guy. Turtles already have April and Casey fighting alongside them so if this new "asian ninja guy who is lost from Jackie Chan Adventures" would be allie of the turtles there the rest bad guys would be beaten to death.
I think it would be cool if this new guys was after Ninja Tribunals power and somehow throw underground cities into story to tie old things that this new season won´t be "loose season". I hope they also tie Fast Forward with bringing some stuff or characters from the future.

Just thought I should point this out. As far as we know "that other crazy triceraton guy that was delusional cuz his breather was f*cked up," died. If I remember correctly... he died pushing Shredder though the hole in the boat in the episode Rogue in the House - Part 2 in season 2. Yeah his name was Zog. Poor, poor Zog. :ohwell:

Now, I've never liked 99% of the character design throughout the entire series (FF included). There are some characters I tolerate, but never actually liked their design... until this guy. I honestly must say I like his design. I don't know why.
Also, pure speculation on my part... but based on this image with the staff, I say he's a Chinese Monk. That staff/scepter he's holding looks just like one you'd see with a monk. Of course the man has hair, so god knows whether they actually based that thing on real life, or just a coincidence.
Look at his staff, now compare to the screens I dug up from Journey to the West TV show.
BTW, I like this design better, plus, my images refer to this design as well.
http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/763/newcharacter2hp6.jpg
Not the best angle, but look at what the monk has in his hand.
http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/6658/vlcsnap71372td0.jpg

http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/2686/vlcsnap72734hn4.jpg
Now TMNT isn't exactly based on real life, so you can't expect him to look 100% like a monk. What TMNT does is take real life stuff and randomly puts them into things that don't make sense (like Chi Gong in the Turtles in Space episode) What strikes me is that the colors of the staff/scepter are exactly the same. Well, not all of them end with a gold top, but when I saw the image, this is exactly what popped into my head as well. This guy could very well be a good guy, and a monk. And no, that thing is not used for clobbering people.

Lol not a really serious reply, but it would be funny if they introduced Irma into the new series. Maybe as a friend of April's from school as a lab partner or something. I'd like to add on to that, but I'd probably get this thread closed.
Anyway, I'd hate to see Irma as anything but a throw away gag in the new series. I mean... I really don't want to hear her whining about how she has low standards, jumps on the first thing that moves, and then whines about how she gets into bad relationships. That's pretty much all she was in the old series. Even Vernon had more depth.
The Canadian Kiwi
12-16-2007, 02:38 PM
True, though the idea of Irma was more of a joke. If they really did add her they would undoubtedly re-do her a lot as they did with April.
Scandia

Irma was comic relief. But she was also a contrast to April the self-reliant career woman who seemed content for the most part with the other aspects of her life being full. As much as I want someone to love (most people do), the truth is that it is certainly NOT all I care about. April forged her own path- Irma just wanted to be swept off her feet and carried away in a horse-drawn carriage.
