Hi everyone,
I am missing 7 episodes of the old TMNT cartoon. I am IRC disabled because mIRC causes my laptop to go bluescreen on me every time I begin a download. Kazaa has been my only option, but these 7 elude me. I have a very fast internet connection here at school, and would welcome anyone to send me any one of the 7 episodes via AIM or, if its the only choice, Yahoo! Messenger...I also have FileTopia and Direct Connect, but little experience with both.
The titles are as listed...someone PLEASE help me complete my collection!
142 - Mr. Nice Guy (Have a few started on Kazaa, so this is least priority.)
158 - The Starchild (Highest priority)
174 - Cry H.A.V.O.C.!
182 - The New Mutation
183 - The Showdown
184 - Split-Second
185 - Carter, The Enforcer
Someone PLEASE assist the IRC disabled :( IM me on AIM or AOL or CS (See my AIM icon on my post), or email me (also see the email icon), or PM me. Someone, come through for me

You got 186 episodes off Kazaa alone? I can't believe that...
I mean, sure there're more on Kazaa than there were a year ago (a LOT more), but I havent' seen the entire series...

Me, if I begin to download them, I'm looking for 220MB mpegs

Don't bother with DC. That hub is a mish-mash of stuff and it is very difficult to find what you are looking for.

Just join the TMNT dedicated Direct Connect hub @ kohn.ath.cx and I could give you at least one of the episodes you mentioned. C ya, and hopefully some others too!

Why do you want oversized MPEGS when you can get a compressed AVI of the same quality but at a lower filesize?

Usually people use MPEG to create VCD's.

ding ding ding. the Divx is still lower quality in the long run. I used to have all 3 seasons of Family Guy in mpegs. took me forever to find em all, but it was a feeling of accomplishment. Quality means something to me with mpegs.

2) I've never seen an MPEG that was better than a good quality AVI in my life.

Can anyone clue me in on how all this IRC or AIM or DC bizness works?
i went to that kohn.ath.cx site but had no idea what to do from there
I want to get as many episodes as i can, esp the first 3 seasons, but kazaa just isn't good enough.
A little help would be greatly appreciated

Necro,
That "site" sint a web site. For that one, you need a program called Direct Connect, and you find that "site" on there where people are sharing TMNT eps. Many use an IRC program, like mIRC to trade eps. I've found, over the last three months or so, almost all the eps from people sharing them on a program called kazaa (www.kazaa.com). AIM is AOL Instant Messenger which can be sued to transfer a file to someone else. (www.aim.com)

Thats not the point, they make VCDs to watch them with their DVD players.

Well, http://kohn.ath.cx actually IS a site aswell... About using IRC - check out http://www.radixpub.com/tmntfiles/guidetoirc.php. I can also recommend a Direct Connect newbie guide @ http://www.zize.net/newbie.htm. However, instead of using Direct Connect I urge you to use DC++ (an open-source, much more slim version), which you'll find @ http://dcplusplus.sourceforge.net. Hope you'll get online in the TMNT community! :)

That's why I think they're a waste. Either buy the DVD itself if it's already out or just wait patiently for it.

Ok...
Ahhhhh what an interesting topic
*cracks his knuckles*
MPEG is only good for making VCDs...that's about it, really.
Sure it may be higher than the 50 mb avis but NOT THAT HIGHER as it's the same resolution...actually a 100 mb avi file could be the same quality a 200 mb mpeg or even better as it can get you higher resolutions like 512x288, 640x480 and such, where an mpeg file in higher resolution would be a SVCD and would take much more size...and a 200 mb avi file, if done right, can give you near-dvd quality.
Of course, it all depends on the encoder, but trust me, done right, an mpeg4 file can kick a mpeg2 file's ass anytime ;)
Of course, it might bother you to have to watch the avis in your pc but for those of us with a TV-Out card that is not a problem...plus there are already dvd players that support divx, i'm guessing more will come.
So yeah, compared to a 50 mb avi file, a 200 mb mpeg might be better, but try making a 50 mb mpg file and i bet it will look like crap, with an avi that size you can fit around 12 episodes in medium quality in a cd, around 5 episodes in high quality, and 3 episodes in near-dvd quality.
With mpg you can fit 3 eps in medium quality (maybe high quality if done right), but that's about it, lower quality than that with an mpg might blur/look like crap (and plus it wont be a resolution accepted by dvd players that play vcds, which was the point of using mpgs in the first place, am i right?, and higher quality than that will require you to use more cds (1 cd per ep actually, unless you have those rare 800 mb cds, then maybe you could fit 2 cds, but im not sure. )
...
So there, your comparision was kind of unfair as you didn't consider the pros.

Oh okay, so then do you know when the original cartoons are being released on DVD's? :|
I doubt they ever will be. And the 50mb avi's look fine when watching on the pc at their standard resolution, but full screen it, and they go all pixely, where as full screen an mpeg, given the right encoding, and they still look 10 times better. Of course if you want to direct me to the larger dvd-quality avi's, feel free, as I could still convert them to put on a vcd.
Anyways, I have the connection to download large mpegs, and I don't mind doing so, the vcd's tend to look just fine when using them for me, i'm not that picky. Why are you all arguing anyway, it's just a matter of preference.

They don't look good on fullscreen because anyrysm encoded them with very low bitrate.

Hey! I'll gladly sent you the episodes you need. I got my episodes from other people so I'd be more than glad to pass on the hospitality! :)
I use Yahoo and MSN mostly.

I can't promise it will work though because for some reason, when I try to send/receive from most people, it won't work. I think my school is behind a firewall or something like that.
