Ah, what a wonderful day. Nobody could have guessed that the original cartoon would go on to last for 10 seasons and make almost 200 episodes.

We all have fond memories of the old cartoon, and we can watch them again with the new DVDs, but its still a great feeling.

Hopefully Lionsgate gets out the rest of the seasons so we can have the full collection to rewatch whenever we want.

Wow, I was still in my diapers when this first aired. I'm still waiting for a region 4 release of the OT but the odds are I'll probably just end up importing some of the region 1 box sets.

Yeah, cause a Region 4 release is probably a long way off.

Happy 20th!!

I think I first saw the OT in Spring or Summer of 1988. That's when it started airing on AFN in Germany.

Ah those were the days...watching it in english then going to my neighbors house and watching it in German.

Ninjaturtles.com saids that Turtle Tracks indeed first aired on December 28, 1987.

Man, 20 years already, I was only six years old when it came on. Many Saturday mornings were spent watching it. Never got into the new one though.

Yeah Happy Bday OT...even if it wasn't what made me a huge fan....it was still enjoyable. Corny, but enjoyable.

Where were you when TMNT OT began?

Wow. Twenty years. Time sure flies. I was in the fifth grade when TMNT debuted- but probably did not find out about it till late 6th grade or even 7th grade.

The OT's OP is so catchy. Part of me wishes they had kept it for the NT.

Ah, one of the defining television shows of my life. Right up there with The Muppet Show, Sesame Street, inspector Gadget, and Darkwing Duck. Indeed, one of the biggest, and most important shows of the 1980's. Leading to 4 movies, 3 series (including one live action), a rock band, and a whole lot of happy memories.

And to think, it started from a modest little black and white indie comic.

20 years of the OT. That's a long time. That's most of my life, right there. 20 years since Leo had a blue bandana, Mikey loved Pizza, Raph sarcastically snapped back, and Donny tinkered with an exploding coffee maker at the beginning of every episode.

So, go green machines, and always fight with honor.

Well, I'm a day late but I'll still celebrate. And feel old. Now I can start saying I've been a TMNT fan for 20 years, since as a toddler I didn't want to do anything other than watch cartoons and play with toys from said cartons. Better than starting fires, my mom used to say.

I got in right on the ground floor of the OT, so I still vividly recall watching the first episodes with the mousers. My first day of school, I don't recall, but the first time I heard that theme song is etched in my mind.

I had no idea there were TMNT comics at that point, I thought the cartoon was the beginning. It would be about 2 more years before I even started reading comics, and even then I thought the Archie TMNT comics were all there was. It was a real brain bomb when an older cousin showed me some of the Mirage stuff a few years later.

Ah, my favorite show when I was a young 'un. I didn't watch its debut (being only one year old) but it pretty much made up my early childhood. I still like it... it's great when I'm in the mood for something light and ridiculous. :)

As we marked on our event calendar, today (December 28th) is the official 20th anniversary of the original cartoon! It's hard to believe that it's been that long since 1987 when "Turtle Tracks" first aired on TV. Happy birthday to what still remains one of my all-time favorite shows! :D

Whoa!

I was in the 5th grade- although I do not think that I started watching the Turtles till late 6th or early 7th grade.

The OT ROCKS! It was my gateway drug. In many ways, it is an improvement. I laughed SO MUCH when I rewatched it earlier this year. When I get more space, I will buy the episode box sets.

Wow, twenty years already....let us all join together and sing a hymn. "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, teenage mutant ninja turtles, teenage mutant ninja turtles! Heroes in a half shell - TURTLE POWER!"

I remember watching it at my grandparents apartment when my mom and grandma went somewhere and my grandpa asked me what I wanted to watch and I remembered seeing the show advertised and had him put it on Fox for me. Hehehe, I remember getting so stoked at the action I was beating the hell out of my Raggedy Andy for being a Foot Soldier with my new found ninja powers!
