Theory on Shredder in Season 2/Return To New York (SPOILERS)

From the toonzone episode summaries for Return To New York we know that the TMNT will face 3 Shredder Clones before facing Shredder in what "promises to be a fight to the finish - or so it seems".

Now since Shredder was killed in the comics before Return To New York and the 3 failed clones were early attempts to bring him back the fact that there were failed clones was not to unrealistic. But in the new cartoon (unless Shredder is killed in Shredder Strikes Part 2 which is unlikely) Shredder has not yet been killed so why would there be any need to clone him?

Therefore in the new series it is possible that the "Shredder" that TMNT face, and presumably kill, in Return To New York is a perfect clone and that the real Shredder is safe to be a threat to to TMNT in Season 2.

Just something I thought about after reading the "or so it seems" part of the summary. What do you think?

Hmm, quite possible. If you have access to cloning technology, why not make a clone of yourself in order to fake your own death. I would.

i think that they will kill the three clones and it will look like the real shredder will die too but it will be a questionable death so they can bring him back in season two. although it is not out of the question that the last shredder they fight is a clone too . . .

Well If they are going to Kill him in RTNY, he probably doesn't come back. But Can they really do it? Atleast graphical death is out of the question... But we were let to belive that the PD leader died. Well we shall know his fate in saturday I hope.

Graphically like in the comics death is out of the question, but they could imply death, as you said about the PD leader. In the highlander series all of the villains were killed by beheading (like Shredder in RTNY comics) yet none of this was shown on screen, all you saw was the sword slash and the body fall to the ground from an angle that did not show the head, though whether this still might be considered too much for saturday morning TV is another question.

Plus they don't have to reveal that it was a clone in that episode, if they left it a secret then if they want to leave Shredder dead they could, but if they wanted him back in series 2 they could reveal that it was a clone.

I don't know...I think having that bit of dramatic irony at the very end of the season ender would build up suspense for the new season to begin, not to mention an excuse to continue the series ;)
