No, no, I'm not talking about Leonardo Da Vinci; I'm talking about his namesake, Leonardo the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. :)
About 15 years ago, during my first Turtle craze, I remember reading in the Palladium TMNT RPG book that one of Leonardo's skills was "drawing". I made note of it because I also drew, and I thought it was neat that I had something in common with my favorite turtle.
I also remember the RPG stating that Mikey had a "writing" skill (also like me), and I know we see him exercise this ability in at least Issue No. 17 of Mirage Vol. 1.
However, I don't recall any instances in any other medium (comics, movies, TV) where they made reference to drawing being one of Leonardo's skills or hobbies.
Am I mis-remembering this? Did the RPG list drawing as one of his skills? And if so, did they totally make this up or are there any examples of him doing artwork that I'm not remembering (or am just not aware of)?

I don't recall Leonardo ever drawing in any of the Mirage comics.
I remember that from the Donatello one shot that Don can't draw lol
And Mikey was writting allot in the Image comics TMNT series.

I remember Leonardo drawing a bit in the original toon. I'm not sure how often he did that, but he DID draw Tempestra in that episode with her.

I can see Leonardo appreciating fine art, and even drawing a little on his own.
Donatello I can see doing more technical drawings.
Raphael would be the least artistic of the bunch.

in the old toon Leonardo seemed to be appriciative of lititure and art. I thought that aspect of him made him more multi faceted to have intersts that didn't always related to ninjitsu.
But as far as othe incarnations, I could easily see Leonardo takin up the art of calligraphy writing, since is is also a form of art as well as writing, and it would be in character.

You are correct, In the the Palladium rpg TMNT and other strangeness, drawing is listed as a skill, which implies that it is a hobby.

In "My Hero" (Tales Volume 2 #25), Leonardo is really good at Japanese calligraphy. So I can imagine him wanting to learn more about it and practicing it when he gets older.

I can see Leo drawing. When I have a problem, instead of meditating I draw it. Okay, I'm a visualist, not a ninja.

I rememeber that one old toon episode Back To The Egg, where Leonardo and Michaelangelo had both done a drawing of themselves and at the end were arguing who's was better.

Thanks, Lord Nightwalker, for confirming my memory :)
And thanks to everyone else for your examples and thoughts on Leonardo as an artist. I agree that, if he were to draw, it would probably be in a more exacting style like calligraphy or maybe realistic figure studies. I can't see him doing abstract or cartoony work (or still lifes, although that would be the other end of the scale).
