Midtown is listing these as coming out on Wednedsay (Feb 27th).
Here's what ninjaturtles.com says about Tales 43:
Casey's no-good cousin Sid has joined the Foot Clan as a lowly initiate. In order to advance his standing, the former thug leads Karai to the Jones family farmhouse in Northampton, Massachusetts to ruin Casey and April's engagement party. The ninjas plan to steal the ring in Casey's possession because Sid believes it to be the magical talisman that Karai is seeking.
I just have to say... Gods Sid is a moron...
Tales of the TMNT Collected Book 5 collects issues 2, 9, 15, 17, and 25 of Tales of the TMNT Vol 2

Oh, so the trades are under exclusives now? I had to look for it for a bit, I was just looking under TMNT and assumed they stopped selling them.

Just read #43.
Pretty good. I rather liked the resolution, as Karai honors the truce peacefully. The Lord of the Rings homage was a bit too in-your-face, but I thought Sid's comeuppance was appropriate.
Man, check out page 20, though. The last panel with Casey in the "Blind Sight" style. It looks like he has a skeleton-hand. That aside, Lawson's art didn't seem so bad for a change. He actually drew an April that didn't look completely hideus. I was impressed.

I just cant get into his art, I'll agree that this issue wasnt too bad compared some of his others, but I hate the way he draws the turtles. The story wasnt too bad, it was enjoyable to read.

It's funny, I actually find his Turtles to be the best thing about his art while his humans are what turn me away the most.

Yeah that's how I am to Dr, I just can't get past his people they're just so boxy looking.
His turtles I'm fine and same goes for the aliens because they can look anyway they want I don't really care about them.
But It's all so odd to his art style has changed soooo dramaticly it's shocking to the eyes or atleast it was. Sadly I think I'm getting used to it.
The way the people are drawn just come off as lazy to me, because that's how I'd draw if I wasn't really trying.

Dont get me wrong, his people bug me a lot, but I dont pick up the comics for the people, I pick it up for the turtles, so I wanna see well drawn turtles and let the poorly drawn humans slide. Just my preference I guess...

My thoughts exactly.
Pretty clever issue, sweet on Casey's part. "I gotta go!"

Page 18 had me cracking up! I loved the expression in Casey's eyes as he was gulping down his soda! Then the way April looks at him with that quirk asking if he is getting drunk! LMAO! :D
Really fun issue, not at all what I expected. I was glad to see that djurkhwad Sid get turned into a toad-boy.
Was it me, or did April look as if a little more care had went into drawing her and trying to capture the subtle face gestures?
Also, there were a couple of panels where the Turtles were talking and there beaks were really wavy...still makes me wonder if Jim has something wrong with his hand.
All in all I really liked this book a lot!

I was wondering the same exact thing!!
The wavey faces of the turtles is most def. a wtf moment!
and his humans are better in this issue but nothing to go wooooo!! about.
I do love what happend to Sid though, I wonder how long he will live and if we will ever see the little imp again.

Loved the proposal part of the story.
April looked absolutely beautiful. I really liked her wavy hair. Did I tell you that I like wavy and curly hair a lot?
Shadow seemed a bit older- both appearance and speech wise- than in The Bait. But Mirage is so inconsistent that if there is other evidence that The Bait happened after The Proposal, it would trump Shadow's appearance. In both she does seem to be between a year and 18 months old- she just seems a month or two older in The Proposal.

I think it really helped that he gave April an actual woman's haircut. He usually has just flattened their hair as close to their head as possible.

I have to say that I actually liked this issue. Shadow appears to be around 1 1/2 the way she was repeating "Pinter! Pinter!", "Ikey! Ikey!", ect. April actually looked human.
Anybody ever hear of that tho?? A stacked circle of stones is good luck??? So that must mean Stonehenge is REALLY lucky. *lol* That was sweet of Mikey to make that henge.
As for poor Sid. Um....so they never thought to check up on him??? Um.. Karai....there's a little Kappa looking creature in your dungeon with the One Ring....

I got the trade. First one I read was the Klunk story. It was nice that Michelangelo had a chance to shine in a story. As someone who has mainly only read Vol. 1, I'm surprised how little attention his character gets, considering he might be the most popular turtle for those who remember the cartoon.

That's a good point about Mikey in Vol. 1. He really got the shaft, personality wise. Sure, he eventually got his own 1-shot and some nice moments along the way, but early on in the run, he was the Mystery Man of the TMNT.
Especially in the first issue, he gets no characterization. Leo is established as the leader and initial "narrator" equivalent. Raph gets his own section in which he narrates, and shows off as the lone ranger. Donatello doesn't get much, but he does land the final blow on Shredder. But Mikey? Nadda! Very ironic he became as popular as he did.
I guess you could say the animated series "brought him out of his shell.":D

Apparently in these trades they don't include the bonus stories at the end of some issues. Not a big deal, as I got the books because I'm mainly interested in the main stories, but I guess I'm used to most current trades that reprint everything about the book, including the issue cover (I wonder if the TMNT covers could still look good in black and white).

I guess since Mikey had no personality and not much lines... the cartoon guys decided to make him a surfer dude to give him something to do.
Leo... the leader... check
Don... the more scientifically-minded... let's make him create all the vehicles from the toyline so we can promote them on the show
Raph.. too violent and hardcore... let's keep his sarcastic streak and a bit of anger, but make him more loveable and cuddly since it's still a kid's show
Mike- uhh... um..... hm... doesn't do or say much... I know, let's make him a surrfer dude obsessed with pizza!!! COWABUNGA!!!
