This is my dream to own one of the first TMNT movie costumes like this on that the lucky owner just had restored. Take a look at the link below and here is a pic from the site.

Oh wow!, they did a great job restoring the parts that needed to be fixed. Excellent find :D. It is also my dream to own a Movie 1 costume, along with others here who love TMNT 1.

Oh man I didn't know that this happened to the original movie costumes. They did a great job in fixing it up. I too want a original tmnt I movie costume, my favorite movie out of all! Where are all the other original movie I costumes being held now? Did they just sell them to places like studios or anywhere else?

Ok now I'm impressed. That looks awesome, totally freaking awesome. The bandana should be bluer IMO but even in the movie i think it was this pale. So what, he looks GREAT!

Restore me a TMNT1 Raph FULL body like this, coat and everything, I'd take one. If i had the $.
I just wouldn't want old parts laying around, disembodied heads and stuff.

Honestly I didnt know any one had the origial costumes still I figured they would have all been thrown away or something. I am really jealous of the guy who owns this suit. Although I would love to have it I would prefer Raphael from the first film. :)

I love the before pictures!
Some cool star wars characters there too. It's fun to see how bad they were before restoration. That Leo looked horrible before the makeover.

Wow they even restored other memorible movie muppets and masks.

But yeah, that's cool on how they're able to restore TMNT Movie 1's Leonard costume.

Actually this is the non animatronic head used in the 1st film. Each turtle had a separate head used for fighting scenes that had a fixed expression on its face. go back and watch the first movie again and look at Leonardo when he is fighting and you will notice this is exactly his mask. Leonardo in number 2 had a bigger head and looked different overall I am suprised you could not tell.

Nope, clearly TMNT 1 Leo stunt head.

TMNT 2 heads were completely redesigned and funnier looking

I thought it was 2 at first, but I think it may be due to the restorers emphasizing the spots a bit, but I could be wrong. That or the bandanna fabric....something makes it look a little like a SotO head. If only a little. ;)

Great job. Not only in restoration, but also in having it being able to stand up like that. After so many years and being worn so many times while shooting the movie, it must have been pretty worn out. But they are being quite accurate. Looks fantastic.

And I'm glad my pop-up blocker is back to normal again. Yesterday it would not let me view any attachments or links that opened another page.

There where stunt heads for the turtles?!?! No wonder why Mikey's face looked so different when he was facing that foot soldier in a nunchuck duel. Same goes for the other turtles in their moments. Thanks for clearing that up! :P But wait, where are the real heads where the animatronics are applied when they speak in a scene? Do they just take the electronic crap out when they need to?

Bmaga123

No, they had 2 heads per turtle a stunt head and an animatronic head.

Wow that's really cool. I'm surpised that we see so less of TMNT costumes, because they made a lot of them for each Turtle.

I'm sure I heard one (a Mikey circa movie 3) was donated to the Smithsonean along with a first printing of E&L TMNT. That was the most complete one I had seen prior to this one.

I think that looks amazing! I want to know who owns it to see if they'd be willing to part with it, because I think I'd sell my car, all my stuff, and my soul to get that costume.

I saw a segment on VH1 superfans about a TMNT fan who has a Leo head. Not sure which movie, or if it's a replica. Saw it like a year ago, so I can't remember details. Pretty interesting tho. That chick was a hardcore TMNT fan. :o

That would be IveyAngelo who owns Movie III Mikey and Leo's head. She is very well known on every TMNT board :).

yeah she has leo and mike and tons of other stuff. DO NOT BELIEVE THAT VH1 "Totally Obsessed" show; they purposely made her look like a wacko. She's not that bad. Obsessed yes, not wacko. Look up Fanatical on you tube, it features her and yours truely. :P

While I've not seen that show at all, I've known her for years (as I'm sure most of ye veterans are), and I can truly deny that she is wacko.

Comic and movie head in the museum? That's new to me.

Ya, I tend to take all of that with a grain of salt. I wasn't really paying attention to what they were saying about her, I was more in awe of that kind of dedication to TMNT.

Besides, shows like that are into sensationalism. They purposely make people seem as crazy as possible in order to get the viewers' attention. They could probably do a whole hour on all the crazy hobbies I have. lol.

Trust me I'm extremely dedicated it's been a huge part o almost every aspect of my life, everyone that knows me knows I love the TMNT just about as much as I love the Muppets.
You don't have to be crazy, beg people for things, or write an fics where you'r having sex with cartoon characters to be an extremely dedicated fan ;)
Quite frankly I'm sick and tired of Turtle fans getting a bad wrap because everyone thinks we're crazy losers with no life.
I think the coolest thing about this site alone is that so many of us come from so many differnt walks of life. :)

OHHHHHHHHH I sooooooo agree with this.
TMNT is so universal we have such a fantastic variety of folks of all walks of life, it brings us all together to share one common interest.

Indeed, that's why I get aggravated when people bash the turtles no matter what universe it is.
We are all here for the TMNT and that's all that should matter not which one we thinks the best or which one we hate.
And hating on each other for enjoying one universe over the other has seriously become a huge pet peeve of mine.
I mean seriously how many times do we need the same people to say something sucks over and over again one maybe 2 times ok more than that seriously we get it shut up already.

Just wanted to bump this thread for people who didn't get to see this suite the first time I posted it. Here is a large closeup pic showing some more detail of the restoration that I found as well.

Very awesome, though the blue does look faded. Would be nice if they can restore that. Just add some dye.

These restorations are done by a very cool guy named Tom south of New York.

I didn't read this entire thread, so I hope I don't repeat anyone on here.

This piece is owned by a very private collector. It is yes a movie 1 stunt suit of Leo. The movie heads sometimes looked slightly different as they had a thick wire in the lips to allow for mouth positioning. The mouths were also larger so they stunt men could see out.

The problem with foam latex is it turns to dust when exposed to oxygen. Depending on how you store them they may last a number of years. I have been in contact with two movie 1 stunt suits. Both of which have been left to decay over the years, but it is interesting how in just slightly different environments the latex fell apart completely on one, and the other is still holding up a little.

There are (as far as I know) two Hero heads left. Which would have made it into the Documentary for everyone to see for probably the last time ever considering their location. However at the moment in time we needed money to view them, and I guess no one else on the board had money to help in that respect. Sorry guys, I know its tough times.

Those heads are all but gone as well. One of them is only the under shell and controls, the other has most of the skin still on it for now, and even that is speculative.

Who knows, if we can, and we are in that area again. Maybe we can get them out for a final view before they are completely lost to time.
