The Most Amazing thing came in the mail today, well sort of...
I got Old School TMNT season 6 box set in the mail today from an auction I won on ebay!
The reason it's only sort of amazing is that it's still missing "Once Upon A Time Machine " & "PLANET OF THE TURTLEOIDS Part One & 2", which is very disappointed but was not unexpected as they where not listed as bonus episode for the set.
Which leads me to my next gripe, they where doing so well with bonus features on recent sets, this one has no bonus's at all.
It's nice to have this set for these great episodes like "ROCK AROUND THE BLOCK " & "SWORD OF YURIKAWA", but like I said what it's missing is the frills they've given us with other recent releases, along with the missing episodes from last season's set.
Like I said I got this off of ebay, the seller had no images up for this, so I was a bit shaky but I only ended up paying $13.00 for it regardless so I didn't mind to much, but in the end it turned out to be the real deal.
The Art for the set is ok, the resort to using stock art again from past sets on the backside of the box, and on the DVD's themselves.
The menus are ok, the opening is interesting enough and sets itself apart from past sets, I do like season 5's layout way more though.
The thing that bothers me is that they stuck trailers on both DVD's yet they couldn't stick the missing episodes from season 5 on either one, and we have "RETURN OF THE TURTLEOIDS" on disk one making the flavor of this set even more bitter, because one could go "oh who is this character?, I've never seen him before".
But like I said that's my only gripe, I'm happy that I can now toss out my old VHS tapes that I recorded years ago off of tv when the episodes first aired.
I'd give this set a 8 out of 10 stars: Should have had those episodes.
I hope they make sure to include them on the next set as bonus episodes or something.

Thats cool, getting the DVDs 2 weeks before the release date. It sucks that this set is missing the 2 skipped episodes and lacks bonus features.

3 weeks before, actually.

But yes, is great. May see of looking for it myself next time I'm out shopping (and, if don't find it, the subsequent times - incase it is put out early at any store).

Nice! You have it already!

I do wonder why they choose to leave eppy's out and skimp on extras.
They hold them hostage for a later disc set, unknowing we were going to buy it anyway...
I can't complain about 13 bucks though that's about what it was running on amazon when I pre-ordered it

My bad it is 3 weeks. I remember last year a Walgreens by where I live was selling TMNT 2 weeks before the actual release date.

Yeah, I've had alot of early finds (mostly at FYE, but also have had some at Best Buy); with various DVDs. Some during the week before release, others 2 or 3 weeks prior.

very dissapointing about the no bonus features. I would have really liked to see an interview with ranae. The interviews on seasons 4 and 5 were really fun.

I count Planet of the Turtleoids as one episode because I'd perfer Lionsgate to release it as the full prime time special and not the split two parter.

yeah we need to make a thread with their contact info and whatnot that can be stickied or something. I'm sure krang wouldn't mind.

Awesome that you got S6 early, it was indeed a risky move, I wouldn't have bid on it since I'd have thought it was a bootleg. I need to go buy S5 to be up to date. Looks like i'm going to have to watch the two parter through other means before I get S6 though...

That's a really neat looking DVD cover. I like how it looks like an old-school comic book. I liked the look of the old comic covers, like the old Archie ones where they had a small pic of a ninja turtle on the upper left with the price and issue number.

Yeah, the seller was very nice though and had very good contact with me, but it was still taking a big chance.
I'm sort of glad I didn't sell my Planet of the Turtleoids vhs now...
I really wouldn't mind if they brough it out on a single dvd release.

Thanks for posting the info and the pics, Putrescent! It's disappointing to hear about the lack if extras and the fact that the missing episodes were not added, but sadly, that's not too surprising considering how disorganized Lionsgate seems to be with this series. Still, I'm looking forward to seeing these episodes again once I can get a hold of the DVD.

I'm loving them, These episodes and next seasons are some of my all time faves.
I just got done watching "Sword of Yurikawa" it's been ages since I watched that episode, and loved it as much now as I did as a kid.
I'm about to watch the now Bitter sweet episode "Return of the Turtleoids".:ohwell:

Ok, So I'm done with this set watched all the episodes in 2 days time.
They where fun to watch again regardless of the missing episodes.
But I've got another gripe now that I didn't think would be a big deal.
But there's a huge error in the show in the episode "Leonardo is Missing" and for some odd reason it never hit me before but the episode should be placed earlier in the season because Krang and Shredder are still stuck in the arctic.
When we clearly see them sink into the Ocean in "Rock Around the Block".
So my guess would be that "Leonardo is Missing" comes before "Rock Around the Block".
Just thought I'd bring yet another error with the old toon out in the open for everyone to talk about.

I do too, when he does it ushually leads to something interesting happening. I also like it when Splinter and April team-up in the old toon. For some reason these two always made a great duo when ever they where together in the old toon, I can't wait to see the turtleoids episode in this season just to see April and Splinter try to fight off that assasin robot.

No bonus features, eh? Not even those episodes as bonuses? Well, I'm still angrier at Lion's gate for not releasing any more ALF and ALFtales, and (even angrier still) at them not selling back the rights to the first 13 episodes of Dragon Ball to Funimation, stopping them from releasing it uncut. And the worst part is, they're just sitting on those rights anyway.

If you're looking at getting the Season 6 DVD, you may want to go and check your local Best Buy locations. A local store in my area had it on the shelf already, and I picked it up this afternoon. Every store will be different, as I checked another one earlier and they didn't have it out but the second store did. This isn't anything new, as I've picked up a number of TMNT DVDs early at Best Buy.

Do a dot com order from Best Buy and make those assholes look for it. They might have some in the back or on order or something. It's a good way to see if they have it before you bother making a trip. It also annoys the crap out of the people working in the warehouse, I would know I used to be one of them, they could use the excitement.

I just watched the first disk. The missing episodes don't effect much. Hokum being there and then being gone all of a sudden is nothing new.

As for Kerma well they did so much explaining of what happened if someone never saw the episodes it's just like some unseen turtles adventure. I mean they even showed the villain from that episode.

I know it sucks their missing I just thought I'd mention that.

Well, it seems that "Planet Of The Turtleoids" and "Leonardo Is Missing" were always problematic episodes...
Here in Brazil, "Planet of the Turtleoids" was only aired in July of 1999 as a 2 parter, "Leonardo Is Missing" was first aired in August of 1994. And "Krangstein Lives" was aired after "Leonardo Cuts Loose", "The Ice Creature Cometh" was skipped the first time Season 5 was aired in July of 1994, it was only aired when there was a rerun of that season around September/October of the same year.
BTW, european episodes premiered here around 1992 after season four...
The reason for such big time gap is that they might have skipped those episodes...
Here, TMNT OT started to be aired in 1990 by Rede Globo channel, the first six episodes aired only twice, one in 1990 premiere and the second on February of 1994.
With the exception of "Mutagem Monster" and "Planet From The Turtleoids", episodes 1 thru 163 ("Escape From the Planet Of The Turtleoids") were dubbed by Herbert Richards Studio, who did an amazing job with voice acting and localizations. Those episodes aired from 1990 thru 1996, but the cartoon used to come and go without warning, with the exception of 1995, the cartoon used to be aired at least six months every year....
Then, after almost a 3 year hiatus, on July of 1999, for my surprise, the TMNT were back, but only for a short period of time. This time, they aired the 3 missing episodes: "Mutagem Monster" and the 2 parts of "Planet Of The Turtleoids" followed by episode 164, "Revenge Of The Fly" up to episode 182 "The Showdown", but the studio dubbing the cartoon was different, it was VTI Rio, who tried to keep the old voices for
at least the main characters: April, Leo, Don, Raph, Shredder, Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady, unfortunately, Master Splinter dubber passed away and I don't know what happened with Mike's dubber. The last 11 episodes were never dubbed with those old voices...
Why old you ask? Well, it seems that when TV Record bought the rights to air the OT, they decided to REDUB EVERYTHING!!!!
They used the voices from the new cartoon. It was HORRIBLE, although the translation was way more accurate, the magic was gone, the jokes weren't funny! They simply KILLED the cartoon!
There was a project for those DVDs being released here, but, I pray to God (who rarely listen to my prayers BTW), that they use the old voices, but with two studios and stations involved... I highly doubt it.

Perhaps if we bug Lionsgate a lot, we can have those missing episodes released on DVD. Still... I'm impressed that they went so far with the series.

Looking at the release dates for the other DVD releases it should be released between August and December.

No but the DVD Box with the 24 Red Sky Eps sucks complettly! Bad Audio quality, only german audio and there is a complettly new dub team!!!
So don't buy it! Just wait till january 2009 the the first 25 Episodes will be released in one Box set in Germany & Austria with english & german audio and complettly uncut. (ya know the german TMNT Version is just the dubt UK version ;))

murph's latest blog says they're leaning towards releasing seasons 7-10 all separately and that 7 will likely be here in December w/ 8 coming in April.
