He's an Utrom disguised as a brain! I actually can't recall his species ever being named, but my OT knowledge is fuzzy.

There was a episode where he made clones of himself that started off looking like brains but ended up growing into lizard-men. Dunno what the name of the species is.

Could the Krangezoids be the OT's version of the Utroms?

I think your thinking about the nt series:ohwell:

yes... it's called "Invasion of the krangezoids", i can't recall them being preffered to the term. but i theres a high possibility that's the case!
if not, i guess will never know:ohwell:

I was actually just kidding. Like I said, I can't recall Krang's species ever being given a name other than Krangezoid which obviously is not their official name.

In the new toon krang indeed is a utrom ('secret origins part 3' ^^), but in the old toon the name of his race never gets mentioned and it's not the same krang anyways.
It's one of the myths in the ot. *plays x-files music*

Well I believe the story is that when he was banished from dimension X he was split from his body, so really, Krang isn't so much a particular type of alien as he is...the brain...of a particular type of alien...so really...you COULD consider his species as being "Brain"

Naww, if you were stripped off your body you would still be considered to be from human species, wouldn't you?

EDIT: I get what you're aiming at though.

It was never officially mentioned. 'Krangazoids' was either just the title of an ep or maybe even a guess/nickname of Michaelangelo's creation.

hmmmm good point...although...if you were a human brain sitting on a stool talking to me right now...I'm not sure I would refer to you as "human" either...

The mind truely boggles!

He's not the brain of a human.

I read somewhere (could have been Wikipedia) that Krang was a disembodied brain, as compared to a regular Utrom. But I do not know how official this is.

Well, in the new Toon, Baxter was still human, even when he was just a brain. Maybe Krang used to be one of those rock duders from Dimension X. Or a Neutrino. Them kids did say that their parents were 'obsessed with war'.

Wasn't there a flashback scene where there were several Krang-like guys working together in a lab? This always made me think Krang was an Utrom (gone bad).

In "Four Musketurtles", Krang and some other who look like him are seen teleporting the diamond.
