The Garbageman!

I recently watched episode "Garbageman", and i just want to proclaim how friggin' hillarious that Garbageman was! Seening the turtles go from fighting footsoldiers and purpledragons to a heavilly obese maniack in a tank look alike wheelchair really cracked me up:lol:

Perhaps that's why the more picky fans (myself included) hate that character. He's an obvious farce compared to the believability we expected of the show. Of course, we had the same knee-jerk reflex when they introduced the idea of superheros in "The Unconvincing Turtle Titan", but that's worn off over the years (though I still find the Justice Force eps to be some of my least favorite, next to the Garbageman eps).

I agree about the Garbageman / super hero episodes. I never really got into them. Epsiodes dealing with the foot, mutated monsters, Triceratons or other ninjas are the ones I enjoy. I did semi-like the nano episodes though because they always had more of a family sense to them.

When this episode first aired I hated it. I was only 11 or so and I thought the first turtle movie was the absoloute greatest thing ever. So any episode that kept me waiting longer for and Shredder/Foot battles was total **** (except Meet Casey Jones). Over time I became more aquainted with the OT, and my obsession with TMNT vs. Shredder has worn off and I see the first Garbageman ep to be a nice breather and a GREAT throwback to the OT (mostly little things: Random ass baddie, disguises, COWABUNGA, "garbage boarding", Don throws his bo like twice).

Also, I love that jazzy beat they play when the turtles are looking for clues, I'm pretty sure they never used it in anything else other than on the DVD screens.

You expect believability in a TV series about 4 mutated turtles and their mutated rat master who remembered martial arts moves his master performed while he watched in a cage? In a series where the main villain is an alien fugitive posing as Shredder, who is actually a man possessed by a tengu demon hundreds of years ago in Japan.

But, alien fugitives actually do exist! Thet're the ones responsible for abductions and cattle-mutilations! Originally, they were just covering covering the tracks of El Chupacabra and gathering slave labor for those stupid crop-circle pranks... But, THEY REALLY FREAKING EXIST!!! *shakes uncontrollably*

But, I get what you're saying, Spit. I meant that good stories are supposed to suspend disbelief. The Garbageman eps and superhero eps just didn't accomplish that very well. They threw in too many unreasonable details.

Watch out the sewer covers on the street when you walk by. They are around us every day in our life, we just never see them because they need to hide from us.

Someone believe they are a legend passed down from generation to generation; Some believe they are a heroic history song of by the successers of modern days. But I believe they do exist and they never leave. They are right here, in our heart.

I can agree with you there. I didn't mind Garbageman though, The concept was pretty solid and if he had origins he wouldn't have been so lame in the end. They tried at least.

It was too much for a children's cartoon. There was the controversial topic of conjoined twins, back-alley surgery, the discarding of TrashBoy like medical waste and the burning of people with acid. Dunno why they couldn't have just toned it down though. :ohwell:

There were, in a way. As they had 2 aired ("Garbageman" and "Junklantis"), and then "Nightmares Recycled" which was scrapped.
