you know... it woulda been interesting if they kept the shell cracked... and then in FF when they gave them their FF gear... they also healed up Leo's shell since in 2105 fixing something like that is no big deal. They could have easily gone with that explanation...

I know! I hated that! I hope they explain it, or better yet, change it back to the scar.

My logic is that the Tribunal healed it for Leo after the defeat of Demon Shredder.

I would like to have seen the shell heal gradually. Like when Leo comes back from his training with the Ancient One, his shell would have healed in those two months. In fact, it would be great if it had healed even more in that period than in the previous few months after Exodus.

How did his shell get damaged in the first place?

How did his shell get damaged in the first place?

Presumably during the final fight with the Utrom Shredder. Leo got hit hard and his shoulder was bandaged up.

After that, his shell was cracked.

I always thought it was during the explosion. I assumed he was closest to the blast and before the time freeze from the utroms it got blown off or something.

I always thought it was when Karai got knocked into Leonardo with her sword that caused the chunk of shell to be cut off.

That's always what I assumed too Putrescent.

So cool that they actually stuck with the broken shell for a little bit though.

What the kid was saying is has anyone notice how Leo's shell changed from perfect to messed up later on.
So yes he did word it oddly, and the Leo shell change happens at the end of Season 3.

Wasn't the "official" word that Leo's shell got messed up when Exosuit Ch'rell kneed him in the back with his spiky kneeblade? Karai wouldn't be a bad theory, except it's awfully hard to get stabbed in the back when you're facing someone.

I hated that scene. It looked like Leo was run through by Karai's sword... then he's like... magically back to normal with not so much as a scratch on him. Wolverine???

Or maybe...cartoon???

Yeah, definitely "cartoon." Like when Leo gives Splinter a good swipe across the face with his katana and there's no mark - just gray fur that Splinter claps a paw to. All I want is a red line and I'll be satisfied... but then 4Kids would probably censor it.

Heck, in Leo's case it might have been better to keep his front away from the camera at all times, not showing blood by simply hiding it. Keep him facedown or keep the camera looking over his shoulder as he crawls over to Splinter's side. (and have him crawl, instead of being able to get up and walk around - even if it was just his shoulder stabbed, it would make getting up pretty difficult)

But he wasn't the only dubious one in that scene. Michelangelo, after all, is able to get (painfully) to his feet even with both legs broken.

sorry, i mean fast forward it changed. it changed in exodus part 2, when shredder knocked the shell outta leo, and left him with a scarred shell. i actuattlly used to think it was when karai stabbed the crap outta him, but dan b. explained the whole situation to us on his website. i really wish they would keep it like that becuz its like a suvineir, evry time we look at it it reminds of the biggest fight of the turtles life.

aight, its like 3am.i gotta go.:sleep::sleep:

I just assumed his shell got cracked when karai stabbed him. They made it look like she stabbed him through and through. The arm he got stabbed on was the same side the shell was cracked on. So I just thought karai stabbed him through the shoulder and when the blade went out the backside it chipped off his shell.
I like to go with that theory too b/c his scar was always a reminder of sorts of what happened and how that effected him. His emotional change was just relfected in a physical scar.
I would be ok with the scar vanishing in FF if they say it was the future and by then his shell was healed. (of course then they'd have to deal with...why didn't the turtles look aged.. how they'd even be alive..if physical scarrings can heal..then age/time has some effect on the turtles) but for what happened and for the fact that its a kids show...I'd be happy with that. and then show the scar when leo gets back...or a little bit of the scar. It was just such a huge thing in TMNT that I hate that it just got looked over. It was a symbol of what the shredder had done to the family, the breaking of leo and karai and leo's shift in personality.

For BTTS they should have Don mention a device he made to regenerate the missing piece of Leo's shell for it to make sense.

I agree with what you said. His scar did represent the shift in Karai and Leo's personality. Perhapes they will explain it more next season, when Leo sees Karai once again.

I figured the Tribunal healing it at the end of all the Demon Shredder stuff was a simple explanation.

I definitely always assumed it was from Karai stabbing him. I mean his shoulder strap for his katana was hanging off her sword when he fell to the ground. That tells me it went all the way through and probably hooked on to his shell.
A lot of potentially damaging things did go on but for some reason the Karai/Leo shot seemed a little more impactful, like it was a build up.

My other guess is they weren't expecting us to notice or care about a piece of missing shell so they were just going to let it be written out for all newer season purposes...Little do they know we are going to pick out EVERYTHING...lol

They could play it off as the scar represented the leo/karai thing and the burden he carried for his family.but after the lost episodes ending...everything was peachy. Shredder was gone...leo and karai had a truce...his family beat the shredder and all came out alive....so he no longer had that burden to carry..therefore the scar healed. or they might make some reference to it in BTTS by stating it took a year for the scar to heal (they were gone a year)...and we just didn't see it heal.

I wouldn't think the ninja tribunal would heal leo's scar for taking on the shredder. when he was hurt he was fighting Karai and the utrom shredder...not the demon shredder. The ninja tribunal don't care about karai or the utrom shredder. they seem them as insignificant...so would probably see the scar/injury as insignificant. Look at Hamoto yoshi. before he was killed by the utrom shredder the ancient one went to the ninja tribunal asking for their help. they said that the shredder was an imposter...not the real shredder. not worth their time. So...hamoto yoshi died. if they cared that much about those on their side and the injuries they received by the hands of the utrom shredder they would have saved hamoto yoshi. or broght him back (like the ninja tribunal did for the acolytes). But, they did nothing. THey could also argue that it should of happened that way. (like they argued with hamoto yoshi. they said he needed to die so that splinter would come to NY...have the turtles...yoshi would come back and save splinter and the boys). Leo may have had to deal with the scar and the healing of the injury to help him evolve and learn. If it hadn't of happened...leo wouldn't of changed/evolved and gone to the ancient one. If leo hadn't gone to the ancient ones he wouldn't of evolved out of his anger and would of been there when karai attacked his family. Leo being as angry as he was..might of killed karai...breaking the link between the shredders that they needed to defeat the demon shredder.
possibly? ha.

Uh...It was only a temportaly truce, at least that is what Karai said in "Past and Present."

True. But, by the end of the LS. she seemed nicer/in love and with the whole "we will see what the day brings" speech it seemed like she was moving on with things. That's how I took it anyways.

Side note...speaking of the past and present episode and their "temporary truce"...I always thought it was a super sweet moment between leo and karai when he said he was "so glad they had a truce". That was the most genuine I think he's ever sounded throughout the series, about anything. Not that he wasn't genuine about anything else through the series. But when he said that it sounded really heartfelt. I thought it was cute.

Yeah, I was thinking that too. I assumed that it was Karai that caused the shell crack, but when I rewatched the episode later I realized that couldn't happen. Ch'rell is probably the most plausable bet to go on, since I doubt even a hard shell can withstand those spikes. "Walking swiss army knife" and all that.

As for how it healed...erm...well, according to good ol' Wiki, Leo's shell was repaired in Fast Forward. I'd say that the events from the Ninja Tribunal had long gone, probably a month or two, so that would have been enough time for the shell to recover, or for the Utroms to sergically reattach it (I doubt Don would be able to sergically reattach the shell on his own, after all). I don't think that the Ninja Tribunal would be so generous to heal Leo's shell after season 5. They only wanted him and his brothers so then that they could prevent the uprising of Demon Shredder, after all.

So yeah...my two cents...
