Hi!

I wonder how many episodes of the cartoon TMNT has been released to date..? I'm also interested to know from where I can order the TMNT episodes for a good price. Any tips?

Greetings to ya all TMNT fans out there!

(TMNT fan from Sweden)

For number of episodes there are 143 total between 2k3 TMNT and Fast Forward

For releases, someone from around your area would do better for what's come out around you. But here in the US most of 2k3 TMNT and all of Fast Forward are out on DVD already. With re-releases of 2k3TMNT recently starting, too.

Do you have a good link?

Initially was going to do one for Amazon, but would have been a basic link to all TMNT DVDs available to buy there.

So for now (so you can at least get a good look at the 2k3 and Fast Forward DVDs), here's a rundown of them from ninjaturtles.com--

143 episodes you say. Hmm.. I've seen 194 episodes in total so far. Weird..

In the ninjaturtles.com listing you mean? If so that's because of what I noted (the 2k3 TMNT Series has been getting re-releases recently). That's what the Season-Part DVDs are, having the previous 3 to 5 ep. DVDs episodes in 12 and 14 episode 2-Disc groupings.

That is the end number for the original TMNT cartoon. There are 143 episodes of the new cartoon (2003) and 194 episodes of the original cartoon (1987?). Of course this is including episodes that were never finished. Both are in the process of releasing season DVD sets. I hope this clears up the confusion (unless it was just me that was confused).

You're right! You're not confused, not in this subject anyway. :-)

When it comes to "the new" cartoons from 2003. What do you think? Are they as good as the old ones from 1987? I've heard that they aren't as good..

The new show is a more serious take on the characters with a much more engaging plot. The original cartoon was excellent because it was a fun adventure/comedy series, but the new show has some really great writing and fun characters.

It also adapts stories from the original Mirage comics while adding new stuff, so its a great series.

I agree with CyberCubed. While the old cartoon has a certain nostalgia factor to it, I can't watch too many episodes at one time. It just doesn't keep my interest that long because in general the same story is rehashed in most episodes. The new cartoon however I can re-watch and am not really afraid to talk friends into watching it because the story is fairly well-written and pretty in-depth. It still has a decent amount of comedy also. The only thing the old cartoon has over the new toon is the nostalgia factor. Other than that, the new toon is pretty much superior in every way.

Fast Forward of the new toon (the last season thus far) most people do not like as much as the main series (seasons 1-5). I think in comparison though, the Fast Forward episodes are still even better than the original cartoon.

On a "cartoon" level the new toon is vastly superior. Voices don't change, animation frames aren't missing, etc.

On a "story" level the new toon is superior as well, IMO, as there are story acrs that last several episodes and entire seasons. Something that was rarely done in the original toon.

The new show is also much more in depth, but if you're a fan of the more wacky, less action show, then watch the old toon. It still has some good humor in it and some good action from time to time, plus many more characters that are likeable.

Some certain episodes of the original toon can stand toe to toe with the new toon, but overall the new toon is more "Turtley" then the original. Both are fun though.

I think we should cut it down to 142 eps of the new show since that one ep may never be finished.

Have to check again, but I thought ninjaturtles.com's guide took that into account -- as I don't think that episode is listed any more.

Edit: "D'oh".. was wrong, it is still listed.
