Wow, great issues! I've been dying to read these ever since I first found ninjaturtles.com and wait was worth it. When the animated versions of these aired back in the day I was blown away, but the comic versions are honestly way better (The film dosen't do it justice either).

One odd thing, Splinter refers to his sons as Don, Mike and Leo at one point, seemed really odd to me.

These issues + 11 are my favorite TMNT story. And, obviously, the first movie borrowed from these. :tthumbsu::tthumbsu:

TMNT Vol. 1 #10, 11, the Leo special, City at War (#19-21) is the very best TMNT ever printed.

My favorite story far and wide remains #19-21, though, with the crown going to #21.

I like the art style of Leo's one shot. Gritty, with great detail and shading when it comes to leo's battle with the Foot, but light with less shading for the Christmas scenes at April's.

Volume four of the First Comics color collections was the first thing I ever read from the comics. It collects these issues and it blew my mind. They are still probably my favorite, too.

I LOVE those First books...whenever I'm in the mood to read some of the original books, they are almost always my books of choice...

Speaking of TPBs and favorite stories, is there a TPB of City at War? I mean, everything up through Worm Shredder's death is in TPB form. It'd be nice to not have to open up my individual issues to read it.

I don't think one was ever made. Wouldn't it be listed at the official website if it was? Maybe Mirage will make a trade some day, but in the mean time I guess people have to track down the issues.

I have to admit that I've been trying to track down both trades and singles issues. Normally I'm not such a completest, but with the Turtles the things are a little more rare so I try to get both.

Plus, with the Turtles every variation tends to have some type of exclusive content.

Nope. Never one made. But I would love to see that in trade form as well.

Heh, I imagine that a TPB of City at War would look like a huge block.

Return to New York was by far my favorite TMNT story. Moreso than City at War because there was the Shredder in there. :)
