what happened to the turtle blimp?

Apologies if this has been asked about before but I've never seen anyone mention it. But what happened to the turtle blimp? I'm still in the middle of season 6 but I noticed that there have been situations in which they could have used it but didn't. Like in Donatello Trashes Slash, they could have used the blimp to get into the Channel 6 building (the forcefield was only halfway), but of course they had grappling hooks.
And then there's the Adventures in Turtle Sitting where they got a ride out to that island with April and the Channel 6 copter. That's when I noticed that I don't even remember the last time the turtle blimp was even used. Was it destroyed in season 5 or 4?

It wasn't destroyed in seasons 4-5. Maybe UK censors objected to blimps as the natural gateway drug to nunchucks? :lol:

The turtle blimp is used in season 7, in the episodes Revenge of the Fly and Dirk Savage: Mutant Hunter.

I figured the turtle blimp would have been seen as too gimmicky and obvious and lame for the later seasons and so they just kinda phased it out with the frogs and neutrinos and other characters. Good to see that it does appear a few more times.

Ironically, on another forum when the Hindenburg tragedy was discussed, the subject of blimps in general had come up. The reason they went out of fashion was because of their large size and long shape, they were too easily affected by the wind and therefore difficult to control. Even without what happened to the Hindenburg, blimps would have fallen into disuse anyway.

Blimps are still pretty common. They just went out of fashion as a means of travel... Because we came up with better things for mass transport.

I think the turtle blimp had to be one of the coolest toys!!

I have been re-watching all the episodes from the start to finish and logging the use of different vehicles and accessories. (Yes I have WAY to much time on my hands) I love when you can spot the toys like the plunge gun or army tubes. Even that blue swimming thing from the sewer swimmin Donatello is used (at east once) in the episodes. But like always they tended to faze things out.

Side note do they ever get the Technodrome back to the surface after season 3?
