I've been watching some of my tapes of the turtles that i taped off the tv when they first aired, Mikey seems to get him self wacked in nearly every episode. I mean I know Mikey gets smacked all the time but since I've been watching a bunch of episodes back to back in bulks I'm really noticing just how often Mikey gets nailed. Sometimes he gets smacked two or three times in one episode. I tried to keep count and I lost count around sixty. :o And I think that was just first two seasons. I wonder how many times Mikey has been smacked in the entire series so far? Or why hasn't Mikey learned yet to stop doing what he does that gets him whacked. You think he have learned by now. :ohwell: I wonder if Mikey will ever get tired of it and ask them stop or maybe smack them back when they hit him.

It's your typical slapstick comedy.

Heh heh.

My favorite one is when Don whipped out his bo and cracked him right quick.

Most of the time I think Mikey's doing what he does on purpose. It's the same as me making jokes that make me out to be really really dumb. In reality, though, everyone knows I'm just kidding.

In the first episode? Yeah, that was epic. Even though it didn't involve Mikey, another great one with Don is in one of the mini-eps where after Raph totaled the Sewer Slider, Don chased after him with a sledgehammer.

Maybe Michaelangelo tries to think positive about it saying "Ah, screw it, it's just immature stuff on their part, I ain't gonna stoop down to that level. i'll get some reward for putting up with this, they'll see." That's what i think when I let someone get away with pissing me off.

Mikey really is a glutton for punishment I don't think he will ever learn, I almost think he enjoys negative attention so long as some one is paying attention to him. I sometimes wonder if he knows how to deal with postive attention because he always seems to take anthing postive and quickly turn it negative with his attitude. I think most of the time he thinks he deserves it so he lets it slide but there are times I think he gets annoyed with the constant slaps, In Nobody's Fool the boys where doing pull ups and both Don and then Raph slap him in the head and he looked a little peeved by it, so i think it does bug him more than what he lets on.

As to whether he'll ever smack his brothers back? I don't think he ever will, because if he does I think he would get the beat down of his life. Though I would love to see Mikey one day just deck one of them after they slap him, just once, just to see what his brothers reactions to it.

yeah but do his brothers know he is just kidding or do they think he really is a idiot?

Do you really think if Mikey ever slapped one of his brothers back that they would beat him up for it? Has April or Casey ever smacked Mikey before? I know alot of people who aren't his family have wacked Mikey ut what about April or Casey?

Does any one think that if Mikey ever got tired of getting slapped and told his brothers to stop doing it because it bothered would they would stop? or do you think they would keep doing it?

I see one possibility for Mikey slapping his brothers back: if he gets traumatized like Leo was in season 4. But Mikey being so easygoing and happy go lucky- ie not as hard on himself and perfectionistic as Leo- he is thus not as prone to developing PTSD like Leo did.

I really don't see mikey going to that extreme. His character just isn't the sort to get emo to that extreme. Besides even if he did I don't think he would be taken seriouslylike Leowas when he went wacko.

I honestly do not see Mikey ever slapping his brothers back even if he get to the point where he really doesn't like it. It's just not him. I can see him maybe telling them to nock it off if he gets aggravated enough with them doing it, although if they keep doing it even after he's told them not to a few times I could see him getting angry enough to hit them back or at least shove them.

Personaly I just wish Mikey would stand up for him self in general instead of letting every one, including Splinter, talk down to him all the time. Mikey often comes across as being kind of submissive at times :|

I don't think the word "submissive" should ever go with any of the turtles. Some dirty minded dromers might think something sexual about it, not me of course. :tangel:

I notice that the poll is equal of people who think Mikey will smack his bothers back and those who don't. Kinda cool. If Mikey ever does slap the guys back wihich brother do you think it more likely to be? Leo, Raph, or Don?

Sage Ninja
06-12-2008, 01:18 AM
uh, I think you better check that poll again, it's not equal, it's 9 to 7 with "no" being in the lead. And I'm not suprised, Mikey will slap his brothers back when he decides he doesn't like to chew solid food any more.

Mikey is to much a no balls "all mouth no action" wimp to ever hit any one back, let alone his brothers. He mouths off all the time but as soon as he gets menaced he gets scared and wusses out. And it's not just with his brothers it's with any one (Big Brawl any one?). Even in battle when he's supposed to be fighting he's always the most scared and reluctant.

I was thinking about how much Mikey gets hit the other day. I managed to get the first 2 seasons of the show cheap off of ebay, and watching it I've noticed he gets hit A LOT. I think he just takes it because he knows in a way he deserves it. He loves doing stupid things and cracking jokes even if it kills him.

Mikey is the type of person who over looks the small stuff, and part of the reason he is the way he is is because of his ability to not hold grudges against those who are close to him. If Mikey gets mad (which is rare) he is more likely to react in a passive aggressive way, like deliberately aggrivate some one to get them lose their cool, than react directly. I think Mikey gets a bit of satisfaction when he is able to drive some one crazy that irks him. I think that is his own little anger coping technique.

Any body no matter how easy going they might be, can get angry and I think it would have to be a situation that was really provoking him that would get him to react that way. Mikey doesn't sweat the little stuff but he does sweat the biggies. So watch it out if you ever cross that line.

I was rewatching the tribunal episodes and I noticed that the ancient one was really letting Mikey have it a few times. The familarity kind of annoyed me, even though I don't like it, I kind of only accept Splinter and his brothers smacking him, since the're close to him. I know that the Anceint One is supposed to be "family" or what ever, but he really isn't close enough to him to smack him. I mean Casey and April are much closer to Mikey than the anicent one and I don't think they've ever smacked him upside the head. Does...any one get what I mean here?

I know that they were sparing and all, but in, I think it was the begining of the fourth ep of the 1st season, Mikey did slap Raph on the back of the head......or it could have been his shell, I havn't seen it recently.

They were sparing, but I did get a chuckle out of him doing that.

"You're just a little too, SLOW!" SMACK! "Acttually, much too slow."-Mikey S01E04 (I think)

that was in the wicked early part of the series, like episode four or five or something. It is a bit suprising that Mikey was shown besting Raph in sparring in the early part of the series on mere skill and physical prowess. It's in stark contrast to how things play out later on in the series where Mikey appears frightened by Raph and gets beat up all the time. And Mikey does smack Raph in this episode but they where sparring so hitting Raph would in character in this context, he wasn't doing it in annoyance or anger.

Maybe Raph attacking Mikey with a pipe made him more wary of Raph so he acts chicken when confronted by him.

I don't get what you mean that the Ancient One smacking Mikey is too familiar? What does knowing Mikey well have to do with being able to give him a smack or not? :-?

I don't get that eighther, Why shouldn't the ancient one have as much right to go up side Mikey's head as his Splinter and his brothers do?

Not really chicken. Maybe it's just his nature. Thoguh being almost whacked by a pipe is traumatizing, I can agree.

you know...I'm getting tired that Mikey is forever viewed as being this useless coward, thats nothing but a chump. This is exactly why I want Mikey to finally tell his brother to back the eff off when they deck him.

and what else am I supposed to think when he runs away or acts like a pancy when he is confronted in a fight? Or when he screws up and causes more problems than prevents them?

I'm sorry but seriously most of the time Mikey isn't that useful in a fight and doesn't make much of a diffrence. Most of time the Don, Raph, and Leo would have managed to complete a mission even if he wasn't there. In fact if he wasn't they would probably get a mission done with alot less hassle.

If that doesn't spell "chump" or "tool" than I don't know what does.

Sadly true.. in most fights Mikey always seems to either need saving, or be the first to go down... I mean, geez, he has the same training as the others, wether he takes it seriously or not, he'd still a friggin experienced ninja!

And Mikey was just annoying and getting in the way of the Notes from the Underground fight....

what about what he's done in BTTS? He's certainly proven he's no slouch in BTT and doesn't run away like a coward any more. Who defeated Cyber Shredder in City Under Siege?

I think Mikey is a seriously underrated fighter and thinker. I would say he has more speed than his brothers, the natural... look at him with his skating etc. As for the thinking, he's the clown, he says what he says on purpose to get people around him to lighten up, you gotta love him for it :)
