I think this is fantastic news! The Archie comics where the first comics I've read of the TMNT. And Chris Allan and Dean Clarrain are back too! :D

Huh-za! Finally, how long have we been waiting for this? I just wish it'd be in color, but beggers can't be choosers.

Aw man, it's creeping up on me!
I just finished completing my Archie collection but never got around to reading all the issues (I think I got sidetracked at #20 or so). Finishing my Ghost Rider collection distracted me.
I'd better get reading.

See I tell the people who've been waiting for 3 years for Ultimate Hulk vs Wolverine 3 to come out that they've got nothing on the 14 year wait for Forever War. I need a Tardis so I can travel to May 09!
Woot!! Less than a year for Future Turtles (the proper ones), Ninjara, Shredder, Armaggon (hopefully), Hitler's brain (maybe), Mezcaal (hopefully), Manx (no longer evil...remember that folks), Leo's students (everything's better with Monkeys...as Leo can attest since he's got a mutant baboon as one of his students.), April's Great-Granddaughter (no annoying Cody here! ), and of course environmental stuff that proves that Al Gore was right (cuz it can't be TMNT Adventures without at least one "If we don't save the environment we're doomed!" speach). :D

I have all the specials and minis and annuals...the whole shabang. I was pretty thorough when I was collecting.
I'll just ignore the specials and annuals for now, since trying to figure out where they all fit into continuity would be really annoying (save for the Mutanimals mini, which I already read...not sure where each issue of the Mutanimals on-going fits in).
Heeyyy...maybe I'll write a guide as I read em all. Something a little more in-depth than the one at the official site (AKA, more than just issue summaries).
Hmmm...
The Mini-Series, Specials and Mutanimals Series usually tend to be seperate. Though, one issue of the Mutanimals Series does a cross-over with TMNT Adventures.

The 3 issue mini series of the mutanimals also continued a storyline used in the regular Archie series. And Raph was a guest star :)

Well yes, there is that. And the Mutanimals Main Series had a bit of build-up to the cross-over.

I read this earlier when I was at work and wanted to jump out of my chair!
I am just so glad we are getting to hear about the 25th anniversary and I am really excited about Forever War, I was actually working on the gaps in my archie collection recently and I have been re reading them.

That's awesome news, I can't wait!
I,too, have gotten into the Archie comic series and love it dearly, and I've been looking forward to this arc for a while.
It seems like such a long wait, but I know time will fly by so I'm not worried.

I was hoping they'd specify which issues would be in the trade. Hopefully mostly the later issues, because those seem to be the hardest to find.

The trade will contain issues that help tell the story of the forever war. Because the forever war contains the future turtles, it will be likely that the later issues will be in the trade. I'm guessing (and hoping) that the future shark trillogy will be included. In here, the future turtles make their first appearance. Pretty sweet! :D

The report pretty just confirmed what we all expected about the Archie trade(s); that they're gonna be in black and white.
Hopefully, the price will reflect the downgrade in presentation. I'll be pretty disappointed in Mirage if they demand $20 bucks or more for a collection of fifteen year-old comics, reprinted in black and white when they were originally in color. Unless maybe there's a dozen issues in the trade. Otherwise, they're just being cheap and gauging the audience.

Only complaint with me remains the lack of color in the Forever War stuff itself. Couldn't they just bend the rules this once, for this?

Murph and I tried, I offerd to color the entire series for free and Peter still said no.
He just doesn't feel that it's worth what it would cost.

Ah well. Sucks, but we shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth too close... he didn't have to greenlight this at all.

I wasn't complaining, I'm happy it' coming out.
Hell perhaps I'll scan all the pages in and color them when it comes out.
^^ I'm counting on it. :)
Disclaimer: I'm buyin' your damn b&w book, Mirage. Therefore, I ain't stealing jack from you. So, don't even think it...

Is anyone else less than impressed with the amount of money Mirage puts into the Turtles? It just feels like they just ride the wave of all the licensing money that comes rolling in, but none of it gets put into anything else.
I know they're spending like $1 million+ on next year's Shellabration stuff, but then how can we still not get five measly color comics? :ohwell:
Cuz Peter still harbors bitterness towards it? That's my best guess.

:( I hope not, Archie owns all. I need to track down all the Future Turtle arcs and read them too. Maybe even do the video thing, if I can up the quality with FX and more pans.
And Rose, does even a little over a Mil on the 25th aniversary seem a bit weak? I mean, it's a "Shell-a-bration" $1 million seems like chump change for such a highlight.

I would say it depends on how they end up spending the money and what they intend on getting out of it. To me it seems like A LOT of money for Mirage to be spending, but I don't know that it'll be able to generate the kind of public awareness that we would probably like to see as fans.

I'm happy with black and white over nothing at all, especially now that Future Shark is so hard to find.
My only disappointment is nothing is said of collecting all of TMNT Adventures, although I guess it's possible to track down most of it if you really want it.

Collecting the entire series in Trade would be just awesome. Even if were in black and white!!
I mean, 72 issues is a relatively short series compared to the likes of the big name superheroes. Imagine, 15 issues per trade, 5 trades. Maybe one more to cover Mutanimals. All black and white to lower cost, and perhaps one color trade featuring all 72 covers. At the end will be the black and white Forever War, and there we go!
Honestly, the writing became so fluid as the series went on, that while I applaud and am excited about a limited issue Trade to support Forever War, so many stories intermingle that the whole series would be worth a trade.
I'm thankful I have all 72 issues. But let's be real ... who else wouldn't be able to resist buying all issues in trade, regardless of what we own? :D
Maybe someday, yknow? at the 50th anniversary :) Or if Forever War sells really well...

I own all of them as well. Even though it's only 72 issues, there were a lot of good stories in those 72 issues that really made it a phenominal series.

I have all the TMNTA books too and I'd totally buy them in B&W. Im a TMNTA fan thru and thru and to have varients is ok in my book. Im totally gonna buy Forever War. I've seen how it would look like in B&W as one of the Mirage Mini stories is a B&W TMNTA story that involves Cuddly! It actually looks pretty good IMO.

This is probably the reason why I won't buy this. I have been rereading a lot of my old Archie books lately too, and man, those speaches annoy the heck outta me.
It's not that I'm particularly anti-environmentalism either, but I just don't care for anything where someone else's ideas get crammed down my throat. There are just too many times where the story is totally broken by some out of place little factiod/propaganda about how we need to save the rainforests or something.

Yeah. It's also not like this the type of flood that has never occured at any other point in history. I'm not trying to start any debate about environmentalism or anything. I'm just saying that I didn't like how the old Archie comics artificially added this theme to almost every single comic.

I also hate it when other people's ideas are crammed down my throat, but I honestly don't feel that way when I read the Archie books. They really aren't preachy. It's presented more like, "Here's what IS happening in the rain forests, take this information and do with it what you will."
The Turtles traveled around the world and as they did so they learned about the challenges being faced in those places, and so the reader learned the same. I know it worked wonders on me as a kid, giving me a certain level of global awareness that I wouldn't have otherwise had at that age.

TMNTA does seem to get preachy sometimes, but I try to keep in mind that at the time a lot of people were trying to drive environmentalism into kid's heads. I remember growing up at the time and there were environmentalist messages all over the place. Heck, Captain Planet was around at that time too.
There are a lot of aspects of TMNTA that I enjoy. I like the introduction of more good guy mutants. I like that the stories had more variety than the cartoon. I liked how April finally decided to try some outfits besides the yellow jumpsuit. Heck, they should have made that into a story.

I remember having a book as a kid wherein the Turtles were teaching about the evils of CFC's. Like I said, I do appreciate the fact that it encouraged kids to be aware of the problems facing the world.
I agree that many of the stories from TMNTA were quite good. Some of the art was really phenomenal.

Ya know...
With the 'Green Movement' going on right now with 'global warming/climate change', This could actually be the Best time for TMNTA to come back out onto the shelves. As... fashionable it is nowadays to be environmentally conscious... This could actually be a boost to the comic, if they advertise that angle.

They have a song called "It's a pitty when the city isn't clean".... See the turtles were going "Green" before everyone else!

And incidentally for the 25th annaversary Mirage is in talks with an Environmental group. I figure it's for Forever War or something. *shrugs* Steve mentioned it briefly in his blog

Look at this http://www.ninjaturtles.com/html/upcoming.html#071008. Must be inspired by Krang, not only the name ("Klag"). Remember that Michelangelo was the first of the TMNT in the 1987 cartoon to discover Krang (and Krang helped Michelangelo).
